The Six Little Ones Feeling Wronged
Over on Mo Mo’s side, he sent all the plants he found to Ye Mo. However, since Ye Mo was busy training, it was the old butler who received them. After examining these plants, Mo Mo ended up with six edible plants and four medicinal herbs. Among these herbs was one called hemostatic herb, which was abundant on that planet. Mo Mo had his team harvest a good amount, but he was smart enough not to uproot them completely, leaving the roots so they could regrow.
Mo Mo and Yan Mingke spent about half a month on this planet before leaving with two of the ships, while the remaining two stayed behind to establish a base. Over ten days, they discovered that the planet’s strong repulsion field could dodge the floating debris, making it an ideal location for a base. More importantly, it was located close to the Beast Clan, and with a potential wormhole connection, they could bring in people from both districts Seven and Eight.
The idea was to get regular folks from both districts to come and work, as the sheer number of plants on the planet made it impractical for just the military to handle.
As Mo Mo and Yan Mingke continued on their journey, the people from districts Seven and Eight eagerly awaited the completion of the wormhole, which would allow them to leave their star district and enter another.
Meanwhile, the success of Districts Seven and Eight made other districts envious, especially Districts Three and Four. They were stuck in tough battles, and while districts One, Two, Five, and Six initially offered support, they were mostly there to watch the drama unfold, rather than sincerely helping. Unfortunately for Districts Three and Four, their actions had driven the genuinely helpful Districts Seven and Eight away. Now they were truly regretting their choices, but it was too late—the consequences were clear.
The envious stares intensified when word spread that districts Seven and Eight had discovered a lush, plant-rich planet. The generals of districts One and Two started to get ideas of their own. About a month after Mo and Yan Mingke left the plant planet, the troops from the other districts all withdrew from districts Three and Four and set their sights on the Beast Clan territory instead.
With over half of their forces lost, and no external support, the casualties for districts Three and Four continued to mount. Their generals were filled with regret—they had driven away the sectors that truly wanted to help them.
As if to add insult to injury, the newly encountered Zerg and Beast Clan creatures were unfamiliar, and their attempts to cook them resulted in terrible-tasting dishes, with some even causing poisoning. After this, their chefs didn’t dare try anything new.
Ye Mo emerged from her seclusion two months later, her cultivation having advanced to the 42nd level. Now a mid-tier ghost warrior, she felt a surge of power within her, and the progress filled her with excitement. However, when she stepped out of her training, she found her six little ones sitting listlessly on the play mat near the Yin-Yang pool. They sat there like puppets, surrounded by toys but too lost in their own world to play with them.
The old butler, on the verge of tears, greeted Ye Mo, “Young Master, you’re finally out. Please, look at the little ones—they’ve fallen into a deep longing for you.”
Ye Mo quickly rushed to her children, but they continued to sit there, staring blankly. She immediately picked up Guaiguai, the eldest, saying, “Guaiguai! Guaiguai! It’s Mom. Mom’s here for you.”
Guaiguai’s unfocused eyes flickered as he recognized his mother. Realizing she was real and not just a stand-in, he clung to her neck and started crying loudly. The sound of his cries startled the other five, who quickly turned their attention to him. Even though they were still small, they usually followed Guaiguai’s lead.
Ye Mo held Guaiguai tightly and sat down on the play mat, gently touching each of the other five children’s heads. “There, there. It’s okay, don’t be scared.”
Her comforting touch seemed to bring them back to their senses. Each of them looked at Ye Mo with tear-filled eyes, clearly overwhelmed by the absence of their mother.
Each of the children had dark circles under their eyes. They felt so aggrieved. Their mother had been missing for two months and they missed her so much
Although the old butler had a clone named Ye Mo come out, they could not sense the strong aura of their mother and did not welcome the clone at all
“Mama! Mama!” Beibei cried, crawling towards Ye Mo’s body with all his might.
Ye Mo quickly caught him. After setting Guaiguai down, she picked up each of her children one by one, embracing them all until their emotions finally calmed down a bit.
“I promise, Mama won’t train for so long ever again,” Ye Mo said, her voice filled with love and regret. “Mama will always stay with you, my little ones, okay?”
“Mommy!” Niuniu clung to her hand, rubbing her small face against it. Even though they were only five months old, all six of them had learned to call her ‘Mommy.’ Over the past two months, they had crawled all over the space trying to find her, breaking the old butler’s heart in the process. But he knew interrupting Ye Mo’s training was not an option.
As the old butler continued to recount the past two months, Ye Mo gently touched each of her children’s small hands, noticing calluses from their efforts to search for her. Had she not set up protective formations around the Black Water, they might have crawled into it long ago.
Heart aching for her little ones, Ye Mo brought them back to the villa and made them steamed egg custard. It was their first solid food, and the delicious taste delighted them so much that each of them ate a whole serving and still looked at her expectantly for more.
Ye Mo lightly tapped each of their little noses, “Not satisfied yet, huh? Let’s wait until tomorrow, okay? From now on, one steamed egg a day, alright?”
The six of them nodded eagerly, their limited vocabulary not yet extending beyond ‘Mommy.’ Even though they were exhausted, they couldn’t bear to close their eyes with their mother finally by their side.
Seeing their reluctance, Ye Mo led them to the master bedroom in the villa. She laid them down on the big bed, three on each side of her, and she took the middle spot. After patting their little heads, she softly hummed a lullaby, soothing them to sleep.
