She Recognizes This Soul
The other guards looked enviously at Lan Feng. If they weren’t supposed to avoid disturbing the lady too often, they would have rushed in themselves to see the six young masters.
Lan Feng discreetly pulled up a photo—a picture of the six little ones. “You can look, but this photo must not be shared. Once you’ve seen it, it has to be deleted. Got it?”
After all, there was still someone over there raising a puppet child. If they found out that no child was missing on this side, they’d probably lose their mind, wouldn’t they? Most likely, right? After all, that puppet had already worn down both Yu He and her mother terribly.
Everyone eagerly took in the sight of the six little masters as Lan Feng introduced them, “This is Qianqian, the little princess who gave me the fruit. This one is Niuniu, and that one is Yueyue. Over here, we have Guaiguai, Baobao, and Beibei. Make sure you remember their names. The lady said no more titles like ‘little master’ or ‘little princess.’ Just call them by their names.”
The guards quickly memorized the appearance of the six little ones. Although they looked almost identical, there were subtle differences if you observed closely. These guards, trained in reconnaissance, could notice the smallest details.
Once everyone had memorized the photo, Lan Feng sent it to his general and then deleted it, even though it pained him to do so. He had no choice—to keep the appearance and existence of the six little masters secret, it had to be done!
Recently, another puppet child had been sent over by Mo Mo. This one was quite well-behaved, and even the fake lady next door would occasionally take it out for a stroll.
Because a puppet child had been given away recently, people had been lingering near the fake lady’s door, hoping to acquire another troublesome child. After all, if they didn’t have to raise it themselves, they could easily sell it for a billion.
Yu He’s puppet child had already received an offer of two billion! However, Yu He wasn’t after money anymore—she wanted status. Once she achieved that, wealth would come easily.
Yu He’s goal now was the position of concubine.
Meanwhile, Ye Mo was busy playing puzzles with her six little ones. It might seem early for them to be playing with puzzles, but Ye Mo believed her kids were smart, so starting early was good for them.
“Where does this piece go?” Ye Mo asked Guaiguai. He looked at his mom, then at the puzzle, and placed the piece in the empty spot. Ye Mo remembered the completed image, and although it was just a simple six-piece puzzle, she wasn’t surprised that Guaiguai placed his piece correctly.
“You’re amazing, Guaiguai!” Ye Mo praised him, patting his head. She turned to Baobao next, who also placed his piece correctly. “Great job, Baobao!” she said, patting his head.
Next was Niuniu, who grabbed a piece and put it in the right place. “Wow! You’re so clever, Niuniu!” praised Ye Mo as she patted her head.
Next were Yueyue, Qianqian, and finally Beibei, who also placed their pieces without any mistakes. With Beibei having no choice but to place the last piece, Ye Mo switched to a slightly more challenging ten-piece puzzle after showing them the complete image once.
Once again, no mistakes. Shocked, Ye Mo upped the difficulty, moving on to a twenty-piece puzzle, but they still made no errors.
If it were just one time, she might chalk it up to luck, but this was no coincidence. Her kids clearly had incredible memories. Maybe they were ready for training already.
Ye Mo summoned her clone, who had been meditating. The clone, which contained part of Ye Mo’s consciousness, could handle simple tasks without needing Ye Mo to control it directly. However, before Ye Mo could guide her Ye Mo, something unexpected happened. Her six children started crawling towards her, clearly rejecting the clone.
“What’s going on?”
“Scared!”
“Scared!” Guaiguai and the others repeated, using the few words they knew.
Ye Mo found this odd. Although Yu Mo’s soul had been sent away, why were the children still afraid?
Ye Mo grabbed the clone’s hand and inspected it inch by inch, but found nothing unusual.
“Guaiguai, what exactly are you afraid of?” she asked, noticing Guaiguai pointing to the clone’s head. Ye Mo squinted her eyes and focused on the head. Before she could investigate further, the clone suddenly went berserk.
Fortunately, since the clone’s cultivation wasn’t as high as Ye Mo’s, she quickly subdued it. During the inspection, Ye Mo discovered something shocking: in addition to her own consciousness, there was another, unfamiliar soul.
Oh my…
Ye Mo was startled. How could there be another strange soul here? Upon sensing its presence, she realized it was the spirit of someone from the Dark Realm—the one who had attacked her with a brick.
Ye Mo laughed, “Killing me once wasn’t enough, huh? You came after me?”
She promptly extracted the foreign soul and shielded her six little ones’ eyes. She was about to devour it.
Ye Mo quickly sent her children to the space, leaving them in the care of the old butler.
This soul was merely a superior ghost soldier, and devouring it was relatively easy for Ye Mo. It turned out that the brick used against her in the Dark Realm could absorb souls, and since it had once recognized its master, the soul fragment remained inside the brick.
Ironically, the person who had attacked her with the brick met his end within a day of her own demise, and the brick had absorbed his shattered soul. From the memories, she gathered that this soul had only recently awakened, which reassured Ye Mo. But the idea of such a dangerous presence lurking in her space was terrifying.
With the devouring complete, Ye Mo’s strength had surged; she was now an advanced ghost warrior, having jumped to level fifty-five. It confirmed the merits of her devouring path, though opportunities for more souls were limited in this world.
When the children woke up again, Ye Mo brought the clone before them. This time, they weren’t afraid anymore, and Ye Mo finally felt at ease. She had already made up her mind: if something went wrong again, she would abandon Yu Mo’s body altogether!
