Chapter 23: Are You Threatening Me?
Jiang Shiqing had always known about Ruan Yu’s existence. She didn’t care about status or social standing. As long as her son loved her, she wouldn’t mind. But now she realized that this woman had caused chaos in the Gu residence, trampling on her son’s heart with reckless abandon. Any mother would be heartbroken to see her son hurt.
“Auntie,” Ruan Yu put down the documents in her hand, “I don’t deny any of this, but please believe me, I will be with Yan Zhi Ge Ge for good, and I will make up for the hurt I caused him.”
“Make up for it? How will you make up for it?” Jiang Shiqing scoffed, turning to Tang Ma, “Such a big thing happened and you didn’t tell me?”
Jiang Shiqing had received a mysterious package last night, containing these documents. Initially, she didn’t believe it, but the documents were accurate to the time. She casually questioned a servant in the Gu residence, and everything that happened in the Gu residence was revealed.
She never imagined that this seemingly sweet girl had stirred up such a storm in the Gu residence, and she was even planning to elope with another man. If it weren’t for this package, her good son would have kept it from her for a lifetime.
“Madam… Mr. Gu didn’t allow it.” Tang Ma said timidly. Gu Yan Zhi had given orders that anyone who dared to tell Jiang Shiqing about what happened in the Gu residence would face the consequences.
Everyone knew that Gu Yan Zhi was ruthless, so no one dared to talk nonsense in front of Jiang Shiqing. Losing their job would be a small matter, losing their life would be a big deal.
Hearing Tang Ma’s words, Ruan Yu was stunned. It turned out that Gu Yan Zhi had done so much for her, covering up all those unforgivable things.
Jiang Shiqing didn’t care about those things for now. She would settle the score with her son when he came back. Her sharp gaze swept over Ruan Yu, “I don’t care about what you did before. You want to live a good life with my son now, you just want his money and power. I have only one purpose, leave my son, and I will fulfill all your conditions.”
Her son was so precious, he deserved the best girl in the world, not wasting time on this troublesome woman.
Ruan Yu met Jiang Shiqing’s gaze without flinching, “Auntie, if it were before, even if you didn’t offer such tempting conditions, I would have left Gu Yan Zhi. But now, even if he had no money, no power, no status, I wouldn’t leave him. We’ve missed so much, I hope you’ll let us be.”
The seriousness and determination in her eyes made Jiang Shiqing pause for a moment, but she couldn’t forgive the woman who had hurt her precious son.
“I won’t allow you to be with my son. If you don’t leave him, don’t blame me for using force.” Jiang Shiqing’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile.
Ruan Yu respected Jiang Shiqing because she was Gu Yan Zhi’s mother, and everything she did was for Gu Yan Zhi’s good. “Auntie, please give me another chance. If I can’t satisfy you by then, I will leave him on my own.”
She wanted their marriage to be blessed by Jiang Shiqing. She didn’t want to hide behind Gu Yan Zhi in this matter, it would only make their mother-son relationship stiff. Now, she could only try her best to change Jiang Shiqing’s opinion of her.
“Why should I believe you?” Jiang Shiqing said, “Don’t be ungrateful, or I will make you disappear from this world for my Yan Zhi.”
Ruan Yu believed her. But in this life, there was only death, not separation. Even if she died, she wouldn’t leave Gu Yan Zhi, unless he didn’t want her anymore.
“Auntie, I believe that if you wanted me to disappear from this world, it would be easy.” Ruan Yu said, “But if I died, Gu Yan Zhi wouldn’t be happy. You know his abilities, after I die, would he be happy if he found out the truth? Or is your desired outcome for mother and son to turn against each other?”
“Are you threatening me?” Jiang Shiqing’s eyes were filled with undisguised anger.
“Auntie, I’m not threatening you.” Ruan Yu paused, “Gu Yan Zhi and I are legally married, I hope you can give me a chance. If you’re still not satisfied with me then, you don’t need to chase me away, I’ll leave on my own.”
Tang Ma, who had been standing silently beside them, stepped forward, “Madam, Miss has indeed been changing lately. Mr. Gu has more smiles on his face, he’s not cold anymore.”
Tang Ma saw that Gu Yan Zhi was finally getting what he deserved, and she also saw Ruan Yu’s change. She could tell that this time, Ruan Yu was wholeheartedly devoted to Gu Yan Zhi.
Seeing Tang Ma speak up for her, Ruan Yu felt a wave of gratitude, she looked at Tang Ma with appreciation.
Jiang Shiqing didn’t want her son to suffer, after all, she knew what Ruan Yu meant to Gu Yan Zhi. Plus, with Zhang Ma’s words, she believed that her son had been very happy lately. “I’ll give you two months. If you do anything to betray my son again, you’ll face the consequences.”
“Thank you, Auntie.” Ruan Yu was confident in herself, two months was enough.
“Don’t get too excited.” Jiang Shiqing turned to Tang Ma, “Report to me every day from now on.”
Tang Ma: “Yes, Madam.”
Although she said that, she still had to settle the score with Ruan Yu. She wouldn’t forgive her so easily for hurting her precious son. “Except for Tang Ma, everyone else is on paid leave.”
The servants looked at each other, not daring to speak.
“Tang Ma, from now on, you only need to cook and report to me.” Jiang Shiqing looked at Ruan Yu, “From now on, you’ll be responsible for all the cleaning and chores in the Gu residence, do you have any objections?”
Before Ruan Yu could speak, Tang Ma hesitated and said, “Madam… this…”
Jiang Shiqing glared at Tang Ma in displeasure.
“No objections.” Ruan Yu looked seriously into Jiang Shiqing’s eyes, “Auntie, I’m already grateful that you’re giving me a chance. I’m willing to do anything.”
The chores in the Gu residence weren’t that difficult. Besides, this was her home, doing things herself would give it a sense of family. She could also use this opportunity to experience life, anyway, she had nothing to do at home.
Jiang Shiqing didn’t expect her to agree so readily, she frowned slightly, it seemed that she hadn’t made it difficult enough. What were these compared to the hurt her son had suffered? They were simply insignificant.
“I have one more condition.” Jiang Shiqing said, “You have to go back to the old house with Yan Zhi for dinner every week.”
Gu Yan Zhi was busy with work, he didn’t go back to the old house on his days off. Jiang Shiqing couldn’t see him, so maybe she could see her son every week from now on.
Ruan Yu smiled sweetly and agreed to Jiang Shiqing, “I’ll try my best.”
Ruan Yu thought that maybe Jiang Shiqing was alone in the old house, the huge villa was only left with her and the servants, she must be very lonely. It just so happened that she had nothing to do, she could go and keep her company more often, and it would also help to build a relationship.
