Chapter 24: The Little Thing Has Become Obedient

After Jiang Shiqing left, all the servants were dismissed except for the bodyguards, Tang Ma, and Zhang Shu. Ruan Yu sat on the sofa, looking around, not knowing where to start.

“Miss, don’t take Madam’s words to heart,” Tang Ma stepped forward, “Madam doesn’t really want to make things difficult for you, she just wants you to be good with the young master.”

Tang Ma knew how difficult it was for Jiang Shiqing to raise Gu Yan Zhi alone when he was young. She didn’t have anyone she could trust, but Jiang Shiqing never gave up. It was incredibly hard for her to manage the company and take care of the family.

“I know,” Ruan Yu shook her head, indicating that she wasn’t thinking too much about it. But to be a good wife and mother, she had to know how to do housework and cook. Even if she didn’t need to do these things in the future, she still had to learn. “Tang Ma, I’ll do it myself.”

After all, this was her home, and it was very satisfying to do things herself.

Ruan Yu seemed to think of something and looked at Tang Ma, “Don’t tell Gu Yan Zhi that Auntie came today. If he asks about the servants, just say I let them go home for a few days.”

Knowing Gu Yan Zhi’s temperament, if he knew it was Jiang Shiqing who did it, he would definitely have a grudge.

Tang Ma nodded. Ruan Yu spent the whole morning cleaning the Gu residence from top to bottom. It looked so easy when she watched Tang Ma clean, but when she started doing it herself, it was so tiring.

For several days in a row, Ruan Yu got up to clean, trim the flowers and plants after Gu Yan Zhi went to work. She felt a sense of satisfaction amidst the fatigue.

When Gu Yan Zhi asked about the servants in the Gu residence, she and Tang Ma gave the same answer, and he didn’t think much of it. Maybe he thought she liked the quiet.

A few days passed, and Gu Yan Zhi noticed that Ruan Yu was staying at home all day, obediently, without complaining. Seeing her obedient appearance, he felt a pang of heartache.

He remembered what Ruan Yu said that day, hoping he would trust her a little more.

Gu Yan Zhi had a strong possessive nature. He wanted to keep Ruan Yu like a canary in a cage, but he knew that wasn’t love.

In the evening, Ruan Yu was curled up on the sofa watching a drama. Gu Yan Zhi came out of the study and sat down beside her, gently pulling her into his arms. “A-Yu.”

Ruan Yu leaned against Gu Yan Zhi’s chest, a pleasant, magnetic voice came from above her head. She looked up and met his gaze. “What’s wrong?”

“Be good and listen to me,” Gu Yan Zhi rubbed her hair, “I’ll give you freedom, okay?”

Ruan Yu was a little surprised. Gu Yan Zhi had imprisoned her at home, and she hadn’t protested. Why was he suddenly bringing this up? “Why are you suddenly saying this?”

“I’ll try to trust A-Yu more in the future,” Gu Yan Zhi’s eyes darkened, “You must be bored at home, let’s go out tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Ruan Yu smiled, this man was slowly changing for her, “I’ll report my itinerary to you.”

Her eyes sparkled, she was genuinely happy because this man with a strong possessive and controlling nature was changing for her, bit by bit.

“Gu Yan Zhi, let’s go back and see Auntie every week, okay?”

Gu Yan Zhi was stunned. He had previously suggested taking her home, but she had rejected him with disgust. He fell into thought and didn’t say anything.

Seeing him silent, Ruan Yu smiled and spoke, dispelling his doubts, “We’re legally married now, we’ll have to meet the parents sooner or later. Auntie is alone in the old Gu residence, such a big villa, it’s empty. Maybe she doesn’t say anything, but when it’s late at night, she must feel lonely. As children, it’s our duty to spend more time with our elders.”

“Okay.” Gu Yan Zhi tightened his grip on her hand, holding her tightly in his arms, “The little thing has become obedient.”

He was overjoyed. His little girl was starting to think from his perspective, not only considering his feelings, but also his family.

“I’ve always been good, you just discovered it too late.” Ruan Yu pouted, with a hint of coquettishness, she snuggled into Gu Yan Zhi’s arms.

“Yes,” Gu Yan Zhi laughed, “It’s my fault for being blind.”

He picked up the TV remote and turned off the TV. Ruan Yu was watching with great interest, she looked at him with dissatisfaction, “Gu Yan Zhi, what are you doing? Give me the remote.”

Gu Yan Zhi threw the remote onto the single sofa next to him, “You can watch the drama tomorrow, it’s getting late, we should get down to business.”

As he spoke, he picked Ruan Yu up from the sofa. The sudden feeling of weightlessness made her hug Gu Yan Zhi’s neck tightly, her face flushed red because of his words.

Since Gu Yan Zhi found out that Ruan Yu thought he was physically incapable, he had been going at it until late every night, as if he was expressing his dissatisfaction, or proving that he could.

Every night, Ruan Yu was so tired that she fell asleep, only then would Gu Yan Zhi let her go.

“Husband, I’m so tired, I want to sleep.” Ruan Yu coquettishly hugged Gu Yan Zhi’s neck.

“I know,” Gu Yan Zhi chuckled, “You say this every night.”

He wasn’t buying it. Ruan Yu didn’t have much hope at first, she was afraid that she would have to do this every day from now on.

The next day, Gu Yan Zhi went to the company. After Ruan Yu woke up, she washed up briefly and went into the kitchen. Tang Ma came over to help, but Ruan Yu refused.

She started the soup, then Ruan Yu went to have breakfast and then started cleaning. Tang Ma helped her, and soon the inside and outside of the Gu residence were cleaned, and the soup in the kitchen was ready.

Ruan Yu took out two thermoses and poured the soup into them. “Tang Ma, is Auntie at the Gu residence today?”

“I’ll call and ask.” Tang Ma called the old Gu residence, and after a while, she hung up, “Zhang Shen said Madam is at home.”

“Okay.” Ruan Yu took one of the thermoses and handed it to Tang Ma, “I’ll go to the old Gu residence, you take this to Gu Yan Zhi. He doesn’t have time to eat when he’s busy, don’t tell him I’m going to the old residence.”

“Okay.” Tang Ma took the thermos and went out.

After Tang Ma left, Ruan Yu asked the driver to take her to the old Gu residence. The driver waited at the gate, the bodyguards at the gate knew that she was the woman Gu Yan Zhi held dear, the future daughter-in-law of the Gu family, so they didn’t stop her.

Ruan Yu went straight into the courtyard, Zhang Shen walked towards her, “Miss Ruan, please rest in the living room first, I’ll go and inform Madam.”

Ruan Yu nodded and entered the living room.

After a while, Zhang Shen came to the living room, she looked at Ruan Yu with some difficulty, “Miss Ruan, please go back, Madam said she doesn’t want to see you.”

Ruan Yu smiled lightly, as if it was expected, she handed the soup in her hand to Zhang Shen, “This is the soup I made, it’s good for beauty and health, please help me give it to Madam, thank you.”

Zhang Shen took the thermos, and Ruan Yu left the old Gu residence.

After Ruan Yu left, Zhang Shen was about to leave the living room and dispose of the soup.
