Chapter 106: Tang Feng’s Singing Shocks the Entire Dormitory! (Part 1/3)
By this time, Li Ping had already arrived at the office of Zheng Qiang, the Dean of the School of Economics.
“Professor Li, do you need anything?” Zheng Qiang saw her and quickly stood up.
“Dean Zheng, I hope I’m not interrupting your work,” Li Ping felt a bit embarrassed.
“Not at all,” Zheng Qiang shook his head and gestured for her to sit down.
“Dean Zheng, please take a look at this manuscript. I’ve been looking at it for a long time, but I can’t make heads or tails of it. You’re an expert in finance, could you please take a look?” Li Ping said as she handed over the manuscript.
Zheng Qiang’s eyes lit up when he saw the manuscript.
“Whose masterwork is this? The handwriting is also too beautiful!” Zheng Qiang couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Dean Zheng, let’s not focus on that for now, please look at the content of the manuscript,” Li Ping reminded him.
Zheng Qiang nodded and started reading seriously.
His expression became more and more solemn, and his eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
Halfway through, he looked at Li Ping and asked, “Where did you get this manuscript? The level of understanding in finance demonstrated here is enough to make me feel ashamed!”
“Well, this manuscript comes from a student in the mathematics department,” Li Ping honestly replied.
“What? The mathematics department?” Zheng Qiang’s tone rose an octave.
“Yes,” Li Ping nodded, saying, “You might know this student. His name is Tang Feng, a freshman in the mathematics department.”
“Tang Feng? That name does sound familiar,” Zheng Qiang began to recall.
“He recently succeeded in proving the Riemann Hypothesis and was interviewed by China TV and China Daily,” Li Ping reminded him.
“Now I remember! The student you’re talking about is a genius from the mathematics department!”
“That’s him!” Li Ping nodded.
“How did you come by his manuscript? What’s going on?” Zheng Qiang was very puzzled.
Li Ping briefly explained the situation.
“So you’re saying all these questions were for Tang Feng to solve?” Zheng Qiang asked.
“Yes. I just wanted to see if he could provide a different perspective. I didn’t expect him to solve all six questions in less than an hour. I’m not sure if his answers are correct, so I had to come to you for help,” Li Ping answered.
“He used a lot of financial terms in these manuscripts, some of which I’ve never seen before. Take me to him now; I want to ask him some questions,” Zheng Qiang was eager.
Li Ping took him to her office.
Su Xiaoli, hearing footsteps outside, quickly woke Tang Feng up.
Tang Feng, like a reflex, sat up straight.
Li Ping opened the door and invited Zheng Qiang in.
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli stood up to greet the visitor.
“Tang Feng, Xiaoli, let me introduce you. This is Dean Zheng Qiang of our school’s School of Economics.”
“Dean Zheng, Su Xiaoli is a freshman in our finance program. Tang Feng is her boyfriend,”
Li Ping made the introductions.
“Tang Feng, you are now a celebrity in our school. Professor Li came to me with your manuscript! To be honest, when I first saw this manuscript, I thought it was the work of a master! I never dreamed that it was written by a student from our school, and a freshman from the mathematics department at that!” Zheng Qiang admired him.
“Dean Zheng, you flatter me,” Tang Feng said with an embarrassed smile.
“I briefly looked over this manuscript, and I feel there are some terms that I’ve never come across. Could you help explain them?” Zheng Qiang asked.
“No problem!” Tang Feng agreed readily.
Zheng Qiang pointed out the terms he didn’t recognize, and Tang Feng explained them patiently.
Li Ping listened intently, not daring to be distracted.
“Dean Zheng, I’ve explained all these terms. Do you have any other questions?” Tang Feng asked with a smile.
“No,” Zheng Qiang shook his head, “Could I keep these manuscripts for a while? I plan to invite some experts in finance to study them together.”
“That’s fine. If there’s anything I can help with, feel free to call me,” Tang Feng said, leaving his phone number with Zheng Qiang.
Zheng Qiang dialed his number, and Tang Feng received the call display.
He also saved Zheng Qiang’s number in his phone book.
“Tang Feng, do you have time coming up? I’d like to invite you to give a lecture at our school,” Zheng Qiang asked with a smile.
“Not recently. I still have a lot of things to do. Let’s talk about it after I’m less busy,” Tang Feng replied.
“Okay,” Zheng Qiang nodded, “You go ahead with your work.”
“Dean Zheng, Professor Li, if there’s nothing else, we’ll be leaving now,” Tang Feng said.
Zheng Qiang and Li Ping escorted them to the entrance of the teaching building.
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli waved goodbye and then left.
“Professor Li, I’ll call the experts later for a meeting, and you should join,” Dean Zheng suggested.
“Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to attend? They’re all experts in the field of finance,” Li Ping was worried.
“What’s inappropriate about it? If it weren’t for you asking Tang Feng to solve these questions, we wouldn’t have seen this manuscript. That makes you the most qualified to attend this seminar,” Zheng Qiang responded.
“In that case, I’ll also come to learn,” Li Ping said with a laugh.
“Professor Li, this Tang Feng is something special! He’s a student of mathematics, but he has a deep understanding of finance as well. I’m even thinking about poaching him from the mathematics department. After all, such a genius is very much needed in our School of Economics,” Zheng Qiang shared his thoughts.
“The mathematics department definitely won’t agree. But Dean Zheng, I have an idea. We can focus on cultivating Su Xiaoli, after all, she is Tang Feng’s girlfriend. She once gave me a paper she wrote, which I found quite good. Although she can’t compare to Tang Feng, she’s already very outstanding compared to her peers in the same major,” Li Ping shared her opinion.
“In that case, let her also attend the seminar tomorrow. It’s a good opportunity for her to learn,” Zheng Qiang decided.
“Alright! I’ll call her later to inform her,” Li Ping agreed.
After chatting a bit more, Zheng Qiang and Li Ping parted ways.
By this time, Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli were already on their way to the cafeteria.
“Tang Feng, you’re really amazing! Even our dean can’t stop praising you! He even wants to invite you to give a lecture at our school!” Su Xiaoli said, full of admiration.
Although she knew Tang Feng was accomplished in finance, she hadn’t expected him to be this impressive!
