Chapter 111: It Won’t Be Long Before China Becomes the World’s Number One! (Part 3/3)
Professor Gao Mingzhou and Lawrence, along with others, were already waiting at the entrance. Tang Feng approached and greeted them.
“Mr. Lawrence, we meet again!”
“I had not expected to see you so soon! Your accomplishments are truly remarkable, having consecutively solved two world-class mathematical problems. Impressive, truly impressive!” Lawrence couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up as he spoke.
“I’m currently working on solving the remaining world-class problems. I believe we’ll meet again in the not-so-distant future!” Tang Feng said with a slight smile.
Hearing this, Lawrence felt his heart skip a beat. The young man in front of him was performing astonishingly well.
Unfortunately, Tang Feng was a citizen of China and had declined his invitation to study in America. If Tang Feng had accepted the offer, all these achievements would have belonged to America, maintaining its lead in basic sciences worldwide.
This thought made him feel a pang of regret.
“Mr. Lawrence, are you alright?” Gao Mingzhou noticed the change in Laurence’s expression and quickly inquired.
“I’m fine,” Lawrence shook his head, saying, “Perhaps the long flight has left me feeling a bit unwell.”
“In that case, let’s go inside and sit down for a chat,” Gao Mingzhou suggested.
“No, thank you.” Lawrence gestured for his assistant to bring out the prepared cheque.
He then handed Tang Feng the cheque for one million dollars, which Tang Feng accepted with thanks. An assistant took their photo.
“Tang Feng, you are truly excellent! If there’s a chance in the future, I hope you can visit America! Contact me in advance, and I’ll arrange everything. I believe you will love America,” Laurence confidently stated.
“Thank you for your kind offer,” Tang Feng responded.
Afterward, Lawrence bid farewell to Gao Mingzhou and the others and left the area.
“Professor Lu, I’ll need your help to take Tang Feng to the bank to cash the cheque,” Gao Mingzhou said with a smile.
“It’s no trouble at all. Shall we go now, Tang Feng?” Lu Tao asked.
“Yes!” Tang Feng nodded.
Then, Tang Feng got into Lu Tao’s car.
“Tang Feng, what have you been up to lately?” Lu Tao asked as he drove.
“Just keeping busy! I participated in the campus singing contest last night,” Tang Feng replied.
“Did you win first place?” Lu Tao asked with a smile.
“Yes! How did you know?” Tang Feng was surprised.
“Of course, the students told me. You’re now the talk of our school!” Lu Tao replied.
Tang Feng didn’t say much, just chuckled.
“Tang Feng, it’s great that you have hobbies, but you’ve already achieved some success in mathematics, and you need to keep pushing forward. In my opinion, you have the potential to become a leading figure in the world of mathematics! Right now, countless eyes are watching you. You must not slack off or take anything lightly,” Lu Tao earnestly advised.
“Professor Lu, don’t worry! My hobbies don’t take up much time. I’ve already told Lawrence that I’m working on solving the remaining world-class mathematical problems. I believe it won’t be long before I solve the last four,” Tang Feng confidently stated.
“I thought you were just bluffing him,” Lu Tao commented.
“Solving mathematical problems is a serious matter; I couldn’t possibly bluff him. Honestly, I’ve already solved two and have two left. This afternoon, I plan to spend a few hours to see if I can solve another,” Tang Feng casually mentioned.
“What did you say?” Lu Tao was so startled he involuntarily hit the brakes.
He stared at Tang Feng, disbelief written all over his face.
“Professor Lu, you’re driving; could you not get so excited?” Tang Feng couldn’t help but feel helpless.
“Stop talking nonsense! Did you really mean what you just said?” Lu Tao urgently sought confirmation.
“Of course, it’s true,” Tang Feng nodded. “I wouldn’t lie about such a serious topic.”
“Where are the manuscripts?” Lu Tao’s excitement grew.
“They’re at my place. I don’t plan to bring them out just yet,” Tang Feng replied.
“Why not?” Lu Tao was puzzled.
“I plan to solve all four problems before revealing them,” Tang Feng explained.
“But what if someone else solves these world-class problems first?” Lu Tao was concerned.
“That shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, if all goes well, I should solve the remaining two within three days,” Tang Feng said with a smile.
“Four world-class problems… No, I must report this to Professor Gao and the others. After all, this is a matter that will shock the world!” Lu Tao said, reaching for his phone.
Tang Feng quickly stopped him.
“Professor Lu, it’s not appropriate to call Professor Gao now. How about this: once I solve the third problem, I’ll report to Professor Gao and the others. Let them prepare for verification in advance,” Tang Feng proposed.
“That works,” Lu Tao agreed.
“Verifying four world-class problems will be quite challenging. It seems we’ll need to gather more manpower,” Lu Tao mused.
“Could we involve some of our department’s students? I think it would be a great learning opportunity,” Tang Feng suggested.
“For students, at least doctoral students would be needed. Undergraduates wouldn’t be much help,” Lu Tao replied.
“In that case, let’s involve some outstanding doctoral students. We should create more learning opportunities for them,” Tang Feng said.
“I’ll consider it. Let’s focus on the mission at hand for now,” Lu Tao said as they continued driving towards the bank.
At the bank, with Lu Tao’s help, the cheque was quickly cashed.
“Mr. Tang, if I may ask, with so much money in your account, have you considered entrusting it to our bank for management?” the bank manager asked with a smile.
After all, it was 2003, and having tens of millions in cash in one’s account was quite rare, even among billionaires.
“I plan to invest this money myself,” Tang Feng honestly replied.
“In that case, I won’t say more. Best of luck!” the bank manager said, somewhat embarrassed.
Tang Feng and Lu Tao left the bank.
“Tang Feng, with so much cash on hand, you really should find a reliable investment channel. Bank wealth management is not a bad option,” Lu Tao suggested on the way back to the school.
“Bank wealth management yields are too low. I’m planning to invest in the stock market,” Tang Feng laughed.
“The stock market? Do you even know how to trade stocks?” Lu Tao was surprised.
“Isn’t trading stocks an advantage for mathematicians? Especially in analyzing financial reports. Besides, you know my girlfriend is majoring in finance; this would be a good practical experience for her,” Tang Feng replied.
“The stock market is risky. Investment requires caution!” Lu Tao warned.
“I understand,” Tang Feng nodded. “I’ll manage the risk.”
Seeing Tang Feng’s confidence, Lu Tao didn’t say more.
Back at the school, Tang Feng said goodbye to Lu Tao and got off the car.
Lu Tao watched him walk away, shaking his head in disbelief.
This Tang Feng was truly astonishing!”
