Chapter 200: District Leaders Will Attend (Part 2/2)
Su Gang watched his precious daughter’s back as she left, shaking his head in disbelief.
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli texted back and forth for a long time.
They discussed many issues.
Some of these issues couldn’t be discussed face to face.
They could only communicate this way.
After an unknown period, Su Xiaoli couldn’t stay awake any longer and fell asleep.
Tang Feng waited a while, and seeing no more messages, placed his phone on the nightstand and then went to sleep contentedly.
When he woke up in the morning, his mother had already prepared breakfast.
“Little Feng, breakfast is in the pot. Remember to eat when you get up,” his mother reminded him from outside the door.
“Are you leaving now?” Tang Feng asked.
“Yes, we’re heading there early!” his mother replied.
“Will you come back for lunch or eat there?” Tang Feng continued.
“We’ll eat there with your uncle and the others.”
Tang Feng didn’t say anything more.
He checked his phone, then got up to wash up.
Halfway through, his phone rang.
He hurried over to pick it up.
He initially thought it was Su Xiaoli but was surprised to find it was Principal Fang.
“Tang Feng, did I disturb your rest?” Principal Fang asked with a chuckle.
“No,” Tang Feng shook his head.
“I’ve reported your intention to establish a scholarship to the higher authorities. They are very pleased with the news! If all goes well, the District’s main leaders will attend,” Principal Fang revealed.
“You mean the District’s top officials will attend?” Tang Feng was surprised.
“Yes,” Principal Fang nodded, “Secretary Yu and Mayor Ding will attend.”
“Principal Fang, isn’t this a bit too high-profile? I thought only the leaders in charge of the school would attend,” Tang Feng inquired.
“Tang Feng, if I may be frank, if it were just about establishing a scholarship, indeed, not so many leaders would attend. However, your status is quite special. Not only are you an outstanding graduate of Binjiang No. 1 mIDDLE School, but you have also achieved remarkable results in many fields! Secretary Yu and others have long admired you and wish to take this opportunity to get to know you,” Principal Fang explained after a moment’s hesitation.
Tang Feng suddenly understood.
“In that case, should I host a banquet tomorrow noon to entertain these leaders?” Tang Feng asked.
“No need!” Principal Fang shook his head, “Secretary Yu has already arranged everything. After the ceremony, everyone will dine at the guesthouse.”
“What time should I be there tomorrow?” Tang Feng continued.
“Before 7:30 is fine. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 8,” Principal Fang replied.
“Okay! I’ll be there on time!” Tang Feng affirmed.
“See you tomorrow!”
“See you tomorrow!”
The call ended.
Tang Feng finished washing up, then his phone rang again.
This time it was Su Xiaoli.
“Brother Feng, why was your line busy just now?” Su Xiaoli inquired.
“Principal Fang called me,” Tang Feng replied.
“Ah? What did he want so early in the morning?” Su Xiaoli was surprised.
“He just told me about the scholarship ceremony scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8,” Tang Feng explained.
“Oh! I thought it was something else. What are your plans for today?” Su Xiaoli asked.
“I called Guo Wei yesterday to have a batch of computers delivered. I plan to distribute these to our relatives,” Tang Feng shared.
“When will the computers arrive?” Su Xiaoli continued.
“Around 9.”
“Then I’ll come over and help you,” Su Xiaoli offered.
“Okay!” Tang Feng agreed.
After hanging up, Tang Feng quickly had something to eat.
Then, he went downstairs.
“Tang Feng! When did you get back?” a neighbor auntie, who happened to be taking out the trash, saw him and was somewhat surprised.
“The day before yesterday,” Tang Feng replied.
“You’re back just in time! Could you sign something for my daughter? She’s been listening to your songs lately!” the auntie eagerly requested.
“No problem! Is she home now? If so, she can just come to me,” Tang Feng readily agreed.
“She’s still at school. Will you be home tonight? If so, I’ll bring her over in the evening,” the auntie suggested.
“I should be. If I’m not, she can leave whatever she needs signed at my place, and I’ll sign it and send it back to her,” Tang Feng offered.
“Great!” The auntie nodded and went back upstairs.
A while later, Su Xiaoli drove over.
“Has the delivery not arrived yet?” Su Xiaoli got out of the car.
“Not yet,” Tang Feng shook his head, “It’s cold today, you should wait in the car.”
“It’s okay! I wore an extra sweater,” Su Xiaoli said, opening her coat to reveal the high-neck sweater underneath.
Tang Feng quickly buttoned her coat for her.
At that moment, the delivery truck with the computers arrived.
“Are you Mr. Tang?” The driver approached and greeted.
“Yes, I’m Tang Feng!”
“There are a hundred computers on the truck. Where would you like them placed?” the driver asked.
“In the garage. A hundred computers should fit, right?” Tang Feng replied.
After inspecting the garage, the driver confirmed, “No problem!”
Then, the driver began moving the computers from the truck to the garage.
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli didn’t just stand by; they helped out as well.
Soon, all hundred computers were moved into the garage.
“Mr. Tang, here’s the delivery slip! Could you sign it for me, so I can report back?” the driver said.
Tang Feng quickly signed the slip.
The driver was about to leave.
“Wait a minute!” Tang Feng called out.
“Mr. Tang! Is there something else?” the driver inquired.
Tang Feng took out a box of Zhonghua cigarettes from his car and handed it to the driver.
“Mr. Tang! There’s no need for this! These cigarettes are too expensive!” the driver hastily refused.
“Take it! Drive safely on your way back,” Tang Feng insisted.
Seeing him insist, the driver no longer refused and left.
