Chapter 47: Choosing the Right Gift
“It’s getting late; you two chat, I’ll go cook!” Tang Feng’s Mother said before turning to head to the kitchen.
“Mom! Let me do it!” Tang Feng quickly stepped into the kitchen ahead of her.
“I’ll assist you,” Tang Feng’s Mother offered.
“No need!” Tang Feng shook his head, “You and Dad just wait to eat.”
Seeing this, Tang Feng’s Mother smiled knowingly and did not insist further.
She went to sit by Tang Long’s side.
“Old Tang, what’s going on with our son? It feels like he’s become a different person!” Tang Feng’s Mother muttered.
“What? You don’t want our son to cook for us?” Tang Long asked with a smile.
“That’s not what I mean. It’s just a bit puzzling. The change in our son is just too great!” Tang Feng’s Mother replied.
“People are supposed to change. Besides, he’s still a child. Maybe it’s just a trivial matter that can cause a big change in him. Anyway, I think it’s good this way; it really puts our minds at ease,” Tang Long said happily.
“Anyway, we need to pay more attention to him,” Tang Feng’s Mother said.
“Uh-huh,” Tang Long nodded.
Soon, delicious smells wafted from the kitchen.
Tang Long and his wife’s stomachs began to growl.
When Tang Feng brought the dishes to the table, they couldn’t wait to pick up their chopsticks.
“Dad, do you want to drink some liquor?” Tang Feng suggested.
“Yes! With such good dishes, it would be a shame not to drink a bit,” Tang Long answered.
Tang Feng took out the Moutai and poured his father a full glass.
“Mom, how about you? Do you want to drink a bit too?” Tang Feng turned his attention to Tang Feng’s Mother.
“Pour me half a glass!” Tang Feng’s Mother instructed.
Tang Feng did as she requested and poured himself a cup of tea.
“Here’s to you with tea instead of wine,” Tang Feng said, raising his tea cup.
Tang Long and his wife exchanged glances and raised their glasses.
The pleasant sound of clinking glasses filled the living room.
Tang Long took a big gulp.
“Old Tang, take it easy! Don’t drink so fast!” Tang Feng’s Mother hurriedly advised him.
“Don’t worry! I know my limits,” Tang Long put down his glass and started to feast.
He was genuinely happy!
Eating the dishes made by his son and drinking the Moutai given by his future in-laws, he felt his life was at its peak!
Tang Feng’s Mother was also smiling happily.
The family of three enjoyed a harmonious meal!
After dinner, Tang Feng cleaned up the table.
“Dad, Mom, do you want to start learning to cook now or after a nap?” Tang Feng discussed with them.
“I drank quite a bit just now; I want to sleep for a bit first, then learn,” Tang Long answered.
“In that case, I’ll also take a nap. We can talk after you wake up,” Tang Feng said, returning to his bedroom.
Just as he had lain down for a short while, his phone beeped with a message.
He saw it was from Su Xiaoli and quickly replied.
Back and forth, he hardly had any rest.
When his mother knocked on the door, he reluctantly put down his phone.
“Little Feng, your dad and I have woken up. When do we start?” his mother asked with a smile.
“Right away! I’ll just wash my face,” Tang Feng said, heading to the bathroom.
Once everything was ready, Tang Feng began to teach his parents to cook.
He slowed down as much as possible.
That way, his parents could keep up with his pace.
When Tang Feng felt his parents had mastered it well enough, he stepped aside and let them practice.
Time passed by.
After an entire afternoon, Tang Feng’s parents finally mastered one dish!
Perhaps because his mother had always been the one cooking, she performed much better than his father in the learning process!
“Dad, when the restaurant opens, I think we should let Mom be the head chef, and you can assist her,” Tang Feng suggested.
“That won’t do! Stirring so many dishes a day, your mom’s small body can’t bear it! It has to be me who becomes the chef!” Tang Long immediately rejected his son’s suggestion without hesitation.
“Then you need to work hard at learning! Otherwise, the customers might specifically ask for Mom to cook,” Tang Feng laughed.
“Don’t worry! Even if I have to stay up all night tonight, I must master this dish!” Tang Long’s competitive spirit kicked in.
“I’ll join you,” Tang Feng’s Mother offered.
“Okay!” Tang Long nodded.
“By the way, I invited Uncle Su and Xiaoli over for dinner tomorrow night,” Tang Feng changed the subject.
“Weren’t they just here the other day? Why are they coming again?” Tang Long was surprised.
“The last preparation was a bit rushed, and I didn’t get to showcase my real skills. This time, I plan to prepare a feast to satisfy everyone,” Tang Feng replied.
“Little Feng, with you saying that, I’m really looking forward to it,” Tang Feng’s Mother laughed happily.
Tang Feng just chuckled.
Quickly, the night passed.
After breakfast, Tang Feng said goodbye to his parents and went to the mall.
After careful selection, he decided to buy a gold bracelet for his grandmother.
According to his memory, his grandmother once owned a gold bracelet!
The gold bracelet was bought by his grandfather with the money earned from raising pigs!
For his grandmother, that bracelet held a special meaning, encapsulating his grandfather’s love for her!
Later, when his elder uncle fell ill and needed a substantial amount of medical fees, his grandmother sold all the gold and silver jewelry in the house to gather the money for his uncle.
Of course, his grandmother had no regrets about this decision.
After all, her elder son was her own flesh and blood! Not to mention jewelry, even if it cost her life, she wouldn’t hesitate!
But Tang Feng felt quite sad when he heard about this.
He also wanted to take this opportunity to give his grandmother a surprise!
Although the gold bracelet cost him more than three thousand yuan, he felt it was very worthwhile.
After buying the gift, he went to the market to prepare all the ingredients needed for the dinner.
By the time he returned home, it was nearly noon.
Tang Long and his wife had also been busy all morning.
Since Tang Feng left, they had been tirelessly practicing cooking.
Over and over again.
They knew very well that the only way to make better dishes was through relentless practice.
“Little Feng, you’re back just in time! Taste what I made,” Tang Long said, bringing the dishes to Tang Feng.
After tasting, Tang Feng gave a thumbs up and said, “Dad, I must say, your progress is incredible! It’s a world of difference compared to yesterday!”
“Really? I feel like you’re just flattering me,” Tang Long was somewhat skeptical.
“It’s true! But there are two areas where you still need improvement. Let me show you again,” Tang Feng said, heading into the kitchen.
Tang Long followed closely behind.
