Chapter 7
Zhao Hongyin’s heart beat faster and faster, as if it was about to jump out of his throat.
“Ning Jun, what’s wrong with you? Speak.” Zhao Hongyin’s voice was trembling. Her hands were tightly holding the oil lamp, fearing that it would fall.
However, her husband did not answer her, and the whole house was silent, with only the sound of her own footsteps and heartbeat.
Zhao Hongyin gritted his teeth and continued to move forward.
When she walked into the main room, she saw a person lying on the ground in the dim light. It was her husband Ning Jun.
Ning Jun’s body was motionless, as if he had lost his life.
Zhao Hongyin’s heartbeat almost stopped. She stared at the scene in horror with her eyes wide open.
When she got closer, in the light of the oil lamp, she saw a blood-red fox squatting next to Ning Jun.
The fox was reaching his hand into Ning Jun’s chest, as if trying to dig out his heart!
“Ah–!” Zhao Hongyin finally couldn’t help but let out a scream, and the oil lamp in her hand suddenly fell to the ground as if it were cast by magic.
The oil in the oil lamp spilled out, and the flames instantly jumped onto the dried vegetables drying nearby, and the dried vegetables immediately caught fire.
“Ghost! Help!” Zhao Hongyin was so scared that she turned around and crawled back to the bedroom, then slammed the door shut.
After returning to the bedroom, Zhao Hongyin collapsed on the ground like a puddle of mud. Her body kept shaking and she felt a warm sensation in her crotch. It turned out that she had become incontinent due to fear.
At the same time, Ning Xiangcao and Ning Jinzhu in the next room were also awakened by their parents’ screams.
Ning Xiangcao opened the bedroom door sleepily, mumbling, “Mom, are you going to let me sleep?”
However, before she could finish her words, she was suddenly frozen in place as if under a spell.
Because she saw the most unforgettable scene in her life – a fox was standing next to her father’s body, holding her father’s heart in its hand!
“Ah… someone’s murdered! Help!”
Ning Xiangcao screamed loudly, slammed the door shut, hid back in the quilt, shivering and muttering to herself.
“God bless me! Please don’t come looking for me, Great Fox Fairy! You ate my father’s heart, so don’t eat mine…”
Ning Jinzhu from the next room rarely went out to fool around tonight and wanted to have a good sleep, but in the middle of the night, everyone in the house was screaming like a ghost.
“Fuck!” He cursed inwardly, got out of bed, and just as he walked to the door and opened it to curse, when he saw the scene outside, he quickly covered his mouth, closed the door, and hid behind it.
“Fuck, what was that just now? The Fox Immortal?”
Just when Ning Jinzhu was puzzled, there was a knock on the door.
He was startled by the sound and quickly stepped back, looking for something to protect himself in the house.
The knocks on the door became more and more urgent. Ning Jinzhu frantically picked up the stool at the head of the bed and shouted at the door: “Don’t come in! If you knock again, I will be rude!”
Zhao Hongyin’s tearful voice came from outside the door: “Jinzhu, it’s mother, open the door quickly!”
Ning Jinzhu finally breathed a sigh of relief and quickly opened the door. When the door opened, he saw Fox, wearing a blood-red wedding dress and with blood on his hands, standing at the door and looking at him coldly.
“Ah…someone come, help!” Ning Jinzhu cried loudly and waved the bench in his hand wildly.
Jiang Ning looked at Ning Jinzhu’s frightened expression and sneered in her heart. She took out a tranquilizer gun from behind and shot Ning Jinzhu.
With a clang, the bench fell to the ground with a loud noise, and Ning Jinzhu fell to the ground.
Jiang Ning took out a hemp rope from behind him and threw one end onto the beam. The rope passed through the beam and hung there.
She walked up to Ning Jinzhu, removed the anesthetic needle from his chest, and put it into the space.
Then she lifted Ning Jinzhu’s legs and tried to hang him upside down on the beam.
However, the original owner’s body was too weak and she had been malnourished for a long time, so she was now unable to do what she wanted.
She tried several times but failed to hang Ning Jinzhu up, and Jiang Ning instantly lost her patience.
She took out a saber from the space and slashed it along Ning Jinzhu’s right neck to below his left ear.
Jiang Ning stood up, wiped the saber on his arm, turned and walked towards Zhao Hongyin’s room.
After a while, a shrill scream was heard from the bedroom, and the voice was filled with a strong crying tone.
“Help…”
“Please spare me…”
Ning Xiangcao hid under the quilt with tears streaming down her face. She bit her arm tightly to prevent herself from making any sound.
Soon, Zhao Hongyin’s voice stopped abruptly, and Ning Xiangcao became even more panicked.
Jiang Ning rummaged through Zhao Hongyin’s kang cabinet and found an iron box in the compartment on the side of the cabinet.
She opened the box and saw a stack of small banknotes, cloth coupons and food coupons inside.
The 30 yuan betrothal money given by the Ji family was also included.
Lin Qiuqiu put the iron box into the space, and then put all the valuable and decent furniture and daily necessities in the house into the space.
At this time, there was a noise outside the courtyard gate. It turned out that the neighbor next door heard the noise and came over.
A hint of displeasure flashed in Jiang Ning’s fox eyes. She quickly came to Ning Xiangcao’s door, kicked it open, walked to the bed and pulled the quilt open.
“Ah… please forgive me!” Ning Xiangcao knelt on the ground and cried for mercy.
Jiang Ning raised his knife and slashed her face several times, but did not choose to take her life.
She walked out of the bedroom and set the house on fire.
Then, she slowly walked out of the room and paced to the yard. Her blood-stained body looked particularly eerie in the night.
When the villagers watching outside the courtyard saw this scene, they were so scared that their legs went weak and they retreated in all directions.
“Oh my, the fox fairy is here to take my life!”
“It must be Village Doctor Jiang who has come to seek justice for his daughter…”
Jiang Ning turned around and took a look at the place where the original owner and her father had lived. The depressed feeling in her heart dissipated a little, and she jumped and disappeared into the darkness.
Seeing this, the onlookers became even more convinced that it was the fox fairy who came to avenge the Jiang father and daughter.
The fire soon engulfed the entire house, but no one in the village dared to go forward to put out the fire. They were worried about angering the fox fairy and being retaliated against.
The village chief hurried to the scene with his coat on. Seeing the flames shooting up into the sky, he slapped his thigh and said, “Hurry up and put out the fire!”
When everyone heard the village chief’s orders, they had no choice but to go home and fetch water to put out the fire.
After a whole night’s effort, everyone finally worked together to put out the fire. When he rushed into the house, he found the bodies of Ning Jun’s family.
That night, everything in this family changed completely.
“Village…Village Chief, what should we do? Call the police?” A man with a dirty face asked in a low voice.
“Call the police? What police?” The village chief gasped and glared at the man. “If we call the police, will our village still be honored as an advanced village this year?”
“But the whole family is dead. How can such a big thing be hidden?”
“They accidentally set their house on fire when they lit an oil lamp at night. What can we do?” the village chief said impatiently. “Are you going to tell the police that it was a fox spirit that was taking our lives?”
The man quickly shut his mouth when he heard this. He didn’t want to go to jail for promoting feudal superstition.
As for Jiang Ning, she had already changed her clothes and returned to Qinghe Village.
The first thing she did when she got home was to go into the space to check on Ji Yanli. Seeing that he had not yet woken up, she walked to the CT machine next to her and lay down to rest.
The next day, Jiang Ning was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the door!
She did not rush out of the space to open the door, but first checked Ji Yanli’s physical condition. Seeing that all his indicators had stabilized, she took him out of the space.
