Yu Mian looked at the boy opposite her while holding her chopsticks, not uttering a word for a long time.
Wen Quyi didn’t urge her either and just smiled at her, appearing particularly refined.
Yu Mian felt that the young man at this moment was like a cat having fun with the mouse it caught. It was on the side watching the other panic for a way out and was waiting for it to fall into the trap.
She shook her head to get rid of the scene that popped up in her mind. Yu Mian took another look at Wen Quyi.
The young man was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and a light gray plaid sweater. His face was fair and handsome, his eyes were as clear as water, and his gaze was soft with a hint of smile. The bright light from the window fell on the side of his face, making his entire body look like it was carved out of jade.
Noticing her gaze, he put down the chopsticks in his hand and said in a friendly manner, “What’s wrong? Is my question difficult to answer?”
Yu Mian pursed her lips hard, so anxious that she couldn’t eat her meal.
She was certain that the childhood friend in front of her, who had grown up with her since little, must have discovered something.
Even if he hadn’t guessed that she’s his friend Yu Mian, he must have doubts about her current identity and her ‘friendship’ with her old self.
If he asked and noticed the details, such as this other Yu Mian’s inconsistent changes, the two people who were hospitalized at the same time where one of them died, and why she went to express condolences to ‘Yu Mian’ when she clearly had nothing to do with her…… she believe that with Wen Quyi’s intelligence, he could definitely guess the ultimate reason.
Perhaps those who engage in art were more sensitive to emotions. When Yu Mian went to the Wen family’s house to express condolences, it was obviously their ‘first time’ meeting each other, however, Wen Quyi could still detect something off about her.
Even though he was her childhood friend, Yu Mian still didn’t dare to take too many risks when she wasn’t clear about the other party’s attitude.
She was silent, subconsciously turning her head to avoid Wen Quyi’s gaze as she racked brains to think of a way to deal with the situation.
“Um, I……” Just as she was about to casually put it off, a figure suddenly flashed in front of her eyes. Yu Mian suddenly smiled with surprise as if seeing a savior. “Teacher!”
She stood up hurriedly and said to Wen Quyi, “I’m sorry, I saw my teacher. I’m going over there for a moment.”
She said she was going over for a moment, however, she also took away her plate of food with her, clearly not intending to return.
Wen Quyi’s expression remained motionless, the smile on his lips was still gentle, and he watched quietly as she ran towards a man without looking back.
That seemed to really be her teacher, rather than a deliberate lie to deceive him. Yu Mian tilted her face to talk to the man with a hint of unconscious intimacy and trust in her expression. She turned to look at him midway, and the man looked over shortly after. The two of them must be talking about him.
But they soon they averted their gazes. The man walked straight up stairs. Yu Mian stood still and hesitated for a while before finally trotting along.
Wen Quyi saw a trace of guilt and embarrassment on her face. The stairs leading upstairs weren’t far from where he was, but she didn’t even dare to lift her eyes to look at him.
The hem of the young woman’s dress disappeared up the stairs and Wen Quyi slowly retracted his gaze. His eyelids dropped slightly and covered the flash of gloom in his eyes.

Yu Mian sat absentmindedly while chewing the food in her mouth. Shen Shang, who was sitting opposite her, gave her a faint glance. He saw her stuffing a piece of green pepper into her mouth and eating it without changing expression.
“Do you like him?” he asked abruptly.
Yu Mian didn’t hear his question clearly and said blankly, “What?”
Her eyes were clear and bright, and her expression was normal. She didn’t have the appearance of a young woman in love. After contemplating silently, Shen Shang shook his head as if nothing had happened. “……Nothing.”
She’s the little sister of a good friend so he should also look after her.
During this period, the relationship between Yu Xing and Yu Mian gradually eased. As Yu Mian’s private tutor, Shen Shang watched the process of reconciliation between the two siblings and had also changed his opinion of Yu Mian a lot in the time he had spent with her.
“Oh.” Yu Mian started to lose focus again while eating.
As she ate the third piece of green pepper, Shen Shang asked, “Are the green peppers good?”
Sometimes when lessons ended late, Shen Shang would stay at the Yu family’s house for dinner. There, he learned that Yu Mian didn’t like green peppers.
She likes to eat the meat in stir-fried pork with green peppers, so she picked that dish today. She sorted out the green peppers that she didn’t want to eat and piled them aside. But since she was distracted, she had unconsciously picked them up and ate several pieces.
Yu Mian woke up in the middle of chewing a green pepper. She suddenly felt a spicy taste spread from the tip of her tongue to her throat. It was so spicy that her eyes reddened in an instant.
She couldn’t eat spicy food at all. She doesn’t like green peppers because she couldn’t stand its spiciness. But she lost concentration and ate some green peppers, and now, not only was her mouth burning, but so was her stomach, which had never been stimulated by spicy food before.
As her mind return, so does her senses.
Yu Mian opened her mouth and exhaled softly, blinking away the moisture from her eyes as she silently waited for the intense heat to pass.
Noticing that Shen Shang had been staring at her, and fearing that he would be startled by her reaction, Yu Mian explained, “They’re alright, Teacher, I just can’t eat spicy food.”
Shen Shang looked at her red rabbit-like eyes that were covered with a thin layer of mist. They were hazy like clouds and mountains covered with fog.
She opened her mouth slightly and her small lips were as red and full as fresh rose petals, and as red as if they were about to drip blood.
After two seconds of silence, Shen Shang stood up and left his seat.
Yu Mian could only wipe the tears that kept coming out of her eyes, feeling slightly embarrassed. She felt guilty for avoiding his childhood friend, Wen Quyi, so she became distracted and showed such an embarrassing side in front of her teacher.
After a while, the person who left came back again with a glass of water in hand.
He placed it in front of her and said, “Drink some water.”
Yu Mian looked at him in surprise. Shen Shang looked calm and natural. He picked up his chopsticks and continued to eat.
A slight warmth rose in her heart. Yu Mian had always been a little afraid of this teacher. He always had a cold and aloof appearance, like an outsider untouched by dust, without the slightest warmth and very distant.
It turned out that her teacher wasn’t cold-hearted, he’s just not good at expressing himself.
Yu Mian picked up the water glass and found that it was actually ice water. When she drank it, it was like a ladle of water pouring down her mouth, cooling it all the way to her abdomen and extinguishing the scorching flames.
Her beautiful eyes curved into small crescents and she gratefully thanked her teacher.
Shen Shang remained aloof but his left hand placed on the side moved lightly, as if he wanted to hold something, but there was nothing to hold, so he noiselessly fold his fingers.

At the same time, the thread on Shengming University forum remained very popular and the number of onlookers increased. With the exposure of Yu Mian’s photo, it once again set off a climax.
In the exposed photo, there’s a young woman wearing heavy makeup and seductive clothing. Her powdered face was so white that she looked like a ghost, her lips were as red as if she had drunk blood, and her long hair was curled into large waves and draped over her shoulders. She’s wearing a black midriff tank top paired with baggy jeans. Her outfit was very unconventional.
Tang Yao’s simps responded one after another, 【Vomit. What the f*ck is this ugliness?】
【I’m going to go blind. I’ll hurry back and look at my goddess’s beautiful photos to wash my eyes.】
【I thought my goddess’s best friend must also be a goddess, but it turns out to be this thing. It’s good that goddess broke ties with her!】
【Ugh, this old witch is Tang Yao’s best friend? Did Tang Yao deliberately find a clown to serve as a foil?】
【It stands to reason that since she’s been absent from so many classes, she should be expelled, right? I strongly recommend that the school expelled this person! Letting her out there will hugely affect the school’s image and will lower the average score of our Shengming’s face value.】
【I seconded Upstairs!】
【Seconded +1】
The comments were getting more and more outrageous. Seeing that everyone was asking to have Yu Mian expelled, Tong Yao, who was sitting behind a computer, breathed a sigh of relief and showed a soft brief smile.
Next to her, Qin Lili said with a smug smile, “Hmph, Yu Mian isn’t going to end up well. With so many people giving feedback, the school will definitely deal with it.”
“Don’t worry, Yaoyao, I’ll definitely help you vent your anger!”
Tang Yao moved the mouse and watched as the comments increase one by one, and said softly, “Lilli, Mianmian is just in a bad mood, there’s no need to be too extreme……”
The rest of her words were suddenly blocked as a new comment appeared in front of her, which was from a simp she was familiar with.
【Brothers, take a look next door! A fairy has come to school! She’s really super pretty! Aaahhhh, awsl[1]ah, I’m dead!】
Tang Yao exited the thread, and sure enough, a new post had appeared below and it was moving up in an extremely fast pace.
【Does anyone know who this newly discovered fairy is? Can you please give me her contact information?】
Once inside, everyone would see several pictures, obviously taken by passersby. They weren’t as clear as Tang Yao’s photo that seemed as if it was deliberately staged.
These ones weren’t taken very close, so they appear a bit blurry, and the person in the photos has her head lowered most of the time, with only one or two capturing her face.
Everyone who sees the photos had only one thought—— Beautiful.
She’s truly beautiful. Even if the front of her face wasn’t shown and only her profile, it was still as beautiful as a painting.
The young woman in the photo was wearing a long blue dress with a fluttering hem. Her black hair was blown up by the wind, and she was petite and had a slender waist.
She was lowering her head to look at her phone, her back straight, her neck as long as a swan’s, and her profile as graceful as if it was painted.
In the two photos showing her whole face, she was looking up in a certain direction, probably gazing at someone. Her pair of beautiful, incredibly clear eyes were filled with bright skylight, and anyone who saw them wouldn’t be able to move their eyes away.
There was a momentary pause in the comments, followed by an uproar.
【Dang, where hell did this fairy come from? I’m dead, dead, dead, ahhhhhhhh.】
【My mom asked me why I’m kneeling while looking at the computer. Because it’s easier for me to lick the screen.】
【I’m sorry, Goddess Tang Yao, I’m no longer your face dog. I’ve decided to become the fairy’s lapdog from now on~】
