Chapter 121: Big Con and Little Con
“I know how to get in?”
Ye Wenxin’s lips parted slightly, and in the end, she was speechless for a long time.
“Brother Liangchen, you guys know each other?” Zhao Teddy finally reacted from the shock and watched the interaction between Ye Wenxin and Third Senior Sister Liu Yansheng with a playful expression.
Ye Wenxin had yet to answer when Liu Yansheng replied for her.
“Of course, we know each other. Otherwise, I would have exposed your little trick earlier,” she said, taking out the talisman that had not been burned yet and continued, “Using this kind of small trick to deceive my Senior Sister is one thing, but to deceive me, you still have a long way to go.”
She smiled coquettishly, maintaining a human demeanor, but Ye Wenxin seemed to see the outline of a fox. However, Ye Wenxin had no other choice but to nod and explain her and Liu Yansheng’s relationship.
“We’ve met a few times.”
“Wasn’t it a few romantic nights?” Liu Yansheng interrupted, leaving Ye Wenxin speechless. She hugged her waist tightly, gently pinching Liu Yansheng as a warning not to speak nonsense.
Zhao Teddy’s surprise turned into envy. Looking at Liu Yansheng’s sultry appearance, his mind could not help but fantasize if Ye Wenxin would allow him to taste the flavor of such an enticing woman.
His gaze was too intense. Liu Yansheng did not like the hedonistic air around Zhao Teddy, so she leaned into Ye Wenxin’s arms.
Shura Hall’s revealing attire, from this angle, showed even more of her lithe and graceful figure, like a night butterfly in the darkness, using her beauty to seduce the unsuspecting prey before her.
Ye Wenxin did not know why she had such thoughts. She gently pushed Liu Yansheng away and looked at Xi Mengxuan, who was standing there in a daze.
“Thank you for your help, Miss Xi. Let’s part ways here.” Ye Wenxin looked at the kind and intelligent girl, not wanting her to get involved any further.
But Xi Mengxuan showed a bitter smile. “No, considering Head Senior Sister’s character, I’m afraid even if I go back, I’ll be suspected. It’s better to leave with young master.”
Ye Wenxin felt gultier. Second Senior Sister’s negative example was well-known in Shura Hall. Even if Xi Mengxuan went back, she would suffer. Moreover, this girl seemed too clean-cut to be suitable for Shura Hall. After thinking it over, taking Xi Mengxuan away was indeed the best choice.
However, they were about to enter the backwoods’ forbidden area. Having the two burdens Zhao Teddy and Liu Yansheng was already enough of a headache. Imagine if Xi Mengxuan were to join them now.
‘Hold on, seems like having another burden won’t make that much of a difference.’
After figuring this out in an instant, Ye Wenxin wore a very ashamed expression. “I’ve troubled you so, miss.”
“It’s alright. I should thank young master instead. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have made up my mind.” Xi Mengxuan smiled instead, and both of them spoke in soft and gentle tones, seemingly casting meaningful glances at each other.
Liu Yansheng felt a little jealous. She kept feeling that Ye Wenxin treated her much worse than she treated others. Ye Wenxin should be seeking her help, so why did she suddenly feel like an unnecessary person?
“Cough, cough, cough… Young Master Ye should do something to show gratitude. After all, I risked committing a grave crime of betraying my master and ancestors to help you,” Liu Yansheng said with a pitiful tone, but coupled with her aura, it seemed more like she was acting coy.
Ye Wenxin did not like this deliberate pretense much, especially since she, a woman, did not have that inclination. With a slight frown, she took a few steps towards Xi Mengxuan.
Seeing this, Zhao Teddy trotted over to Liu Yansheng, his eager-to-please demeanor resembling a “licking dog (a simp)” that Ye Wenxin knew well.
Seeing Liu Yansheng’s disgust, Ye Wenxin effectively diverted her attention and continued, “Brother Zhao, it’s a matter of life and death now. Don’t act like a licking dog.”
“Even if I should die beneath a peony flower, I’ll still be charming as a ghost1. Miss Liu, my bed at home is big and soft…” Zhao Teddy said affectionately, but Liu Yansheng smiled faintly, a long sword had manifested in her hand at some point, now pointing directly at Zhao Teddy’s crotch.
She was still smiling, with a seductive demeanor, yet the words she spoke sent a chill down Ye Wenxin’s spine.
“What do you have in mind, young master?”
“Nothing…at all.”
Zhao Teddy obediently shut his mouth, making various faces at Ye Wenxin, pleading for her to quickly take this tigress away.
Ye Wenxin suppressed a smile but still said, “Could Miss Liu please show us the way?”
“Hmph.”
Liu Yansheng, displeased, put away her sword and took out a talisman crafted from blood essence from her bag of holding. She tossed it forward, and in an instant, a dimly lit path appeared in the air.
This talisman bore some resemblance to the one Ye Wenxin had drawn earlier, but while Ye Wenxin’s was just an illusion talisman, this talisman was a genuine spirit talisman that allowed entrance into the backwoods’ forbidden area.
Looking at the blood essence and the drawn talisman, it seemed to have several years’ worth of history. It was unclear whether Liu Yansheng had drawn it herself or found it somewhere.
Ye Wenxin did not ask. The four hurriedly entered the tunnel and quickly set foot within the backwoods’ boundaries.
It was early spring now, and the weather should have been mild, but there was a stifling heat in the backwoods, giving the feeling of suddenly stepping into a tropical rainforest.
They just walked several steps, and even Ye Wenxin felt sweat soaking her body. The others were also a bit disheveled, completely unaware of why there would be such an anomaly in the backwoods’ forbidden area.
“Miss Liu, what exactly is the background of Shura Hall’s backwoods?” Ye Wenxin wiped the sweat from her forehead and asked Liu Yansheng beside her.
“I heard there are tombs of previous Hall Masters here, as well as some inheritance.” Liu Yansheng’s voice sounded weak, wishing she could release her ears and tail, but as a Demon, she was extremely sensitive and had to endure twice the heat. Her cheeks were slightly red, making her even more of a feast for the eyes.
Watching from behind, Zhao Teddy’s eyes widened, feeling more admiration for Ye Wenxin.
Little did he know, if it were not for Ye Wenxin’s intervention, both Liu Yansheng and Xi Mengxuan would have become members of his harem in the future. However, Zhao Teddy would never have the chance to know this. He was still pondering how to follow Ye Wenxin’s example and be liked by women…
Xi Mengxuan remained the quietest, walking behind the three, constantly taking note of everything around her. If someone were to turn around at this moment, they would notice that the red ribbon on Xi Mengxuan’s body moved a few times.
If one looked closely, one would see a snake head slightly protruding from Xi Mengxuan’s arms, examining the people in front of it, quietly flicking its forked tongue…
Ye Wenxin finally felt a cool sensation on her back. She turned abruptly to look at the few people behind her, only to find Xi Mengxuan missing.
“What… where’s Xi Mengxuan?” Liu Yansheng’s reaction was a bit slower than Ye Wenxin’s, but as soon as she turned around, she realized that Xi Mengxuan, who had been following behind them, was gone.
Silent and stealthy, even Ye Wenxin had no idea when it had happened.
“Brother Zhao, let’s walk side by side with the three of us.” Ye Wenxin’s face turned serious as she called Zhao Teddy to move forward.
She brought Zhao Teddy here this time to snatch away his opportunity. If she lost Zhao Teddy, Ye Wenxin’s purpose would be in vain.
“Fine, I’ll go over now, but can I stay next to Miss Liu?” Zhao Teddy had barely taken a few steps when a poisonous snake suddenly emerged from the ground, its fangs aiming for his crotch.
Ye Wenxin quickly pulled him back by his collar and then struck her palm at the snake’s head, splitting it in half.
Blood splattered, and the venom from the fangs flowed onto the ground, emitting a sizzling sound as it corroded the area.
But the snake’s death was not the beginning of the end. As the venom overflowed, more hidden snakes emerged from underground, attacking the three of them.
Liu Yansheng immediately leaped onto a tree, while Ye Wenxin once again grabbed Zhao Teddy, who was so frightened that his legs had gone soft, and nonchalantly went up to stand atop the tree.
“Young Master Ye, you really don’t know how to cherish a lady. You didn’t even save me, but instead, you were concerned about that Brother Zhao,” Liu Yansheng was not at all afraid, and even had the mood to tease Ye Wenxin’s special care towards Zhao Teddy.
Zhao Teddy was already so frightened that he missed the appearance of some mysterious liquid. Quite embarrassedly, he could only return Liu Yansheng’s teasing with false bravado, “Of course, I’m Brother Liangchen’s gay partner.”
Little did he know, his ‘gay partner’ Ye Wenxin had repeatedly desired the demise of his crotch.
“Get lost! I’m not into that!” Ye Wenxin laughed in response, finding a bit of warmth just talking about some Earthly terms.
The snakes under the tree continued to climb up incessantly. There were thousands of them, each no longer than five meters. This situation made Ye Wenxin suspect that Shura Hall’s founding ancestor might have been a snake demon, treating Shura Hall as a base for raising snakes.
However, she quickly dismissed this notion. If Shura Hall’s founding ancestor was a demon, they would not have altered a Demon Race cultivation method for human use. Perhaps, there was some connection between Shura Hall and snakes, which led them to create this sanctuary for the snakes’ offspring.
Ye Wenxin pondered for a rather long time, while Liu Yansheng was already caught in a dilemma of being surrounded by snakes.
“Young Master, please come and help me quickly.” Liu Yansheng seemed to be very bad with snakes, almost on the verge of tears. For some reason, seeing Liu Yansheng in such a distressed state made Ye Wenxin feel strangely happy.
Liu Yansheng’s cultivation was enough to deal with these small snakes, so Ye Wenxin had no intention of helping. Instead, she turned to Zhao Teddy and said, “What do you think of Miss Liu?”
Zhao Teddy’s eyes lit up when he heard this, thinking that the scenario he had imagined was finally happening.
“Very big, very fair.”
Ye Wenxin was frustrated to hear this but still resisted the urge to kick Zhao Teddy off the tree. She continued to coax, “Ahem, I didn’t mean that… I meant, do you want to reach the pinnacle of life and marry Ms Perfect…”
