Chapter 137: It’s Good If It Hurts
Ling Jue was fairly worried upon noticing the grimace on Ye Wenxin’s face. “Little Sister Wenxin, don’t fret. It’s likely that you’re just too young to understand these things.”
She placated Ye Wenxin, for fear that her guidance had forced herself into a dead end instead of awakening the girl to the truth.
“Maybe.” Ye Wenxin’s words stuck in her throat. Thinking carefully, in her more than fifty years of life in this world, she had been overwhelmingly strong in the first twenty or so years, and in the latter twenty years, she was even more overwhelmingly strong.
In the last ten or so years, she had been growing stronger.
Cultivation compensated for the uneasiness and emptiness she harbored for this world and made Ye Wenxin so busy every day. She must become strong so she would not be killed.
She must become strong to obtain the freedom she desired.
But for Ye Wenxin, who had started afresh with an alternate character, what did she hope to gain from her journey this time?
All this just because she was jealous of Fairy Fengya’s popularity. What should she do after killing Fairy Fengya then?
Ye Wenxin’s mind was a mess. Perhaps because she had not pondered these senseless things in a long time, thinking about them now scared her.
Those who lived without purpose were like zombies; Ye Wenxin’s eyes held a touch of desperation, longing for an answer.
“Big Sister Ling, what are your dreams?”
“Dreams? To stand at the top of the world as a woman and be with you.” Considering Ye Wenxin was already aware of her intentions, Ling Jue gave a natural and unrestrained answer.
Her eyes carried a gentle smile as she held Ye Wenxin’s hand, feeling like she could not touch it enough. But she left it at that, not doing anything that would disgust or annoy Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin frowned slightly, but not because she disliked being part of Ling Jue’s dreams.
On the contrary, she had already reached the pinnacle of her so-called dream on this long, long road of life.
“Let me ask you then, Big Sister Ling. If one was already the best in the world, what else could she quest for?” After thinking about it briefly, Ye Wenxin changed to simpler and more direct wording.
“Best in the world, that’s rather difficult. Even Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng may not be able to sit on the number one throne for that long.” Ling Jue, assuming that Ye Wenxin did not know about the current situation, patiently explained the vague concept regarding the world’s best.
This seemed to be the first serious discussion the two had about this issue. Ye Wenxin listened with keen interest and continued to ask, “Why does Big Sister Ling say so? Wasn’t the Demon Lord seated in this position for decades?”
“Indeed, she was at the time but it’s been a year now. The Wind and Moon Palace’s former Saintess is in closed-door training and has been succeeded by the new Saintess, while the Demon Lord has gone missing after breaking through to Tribulation. Some people say that she may have ascended to immortality.” Ling Jue did not give a direct answer this time and instead, carefully summarized Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng’s matter in various aspects.
“Ascended to immortality? They sure can think.” Ye Wenxin smiled somewhat bitterly. Who could believe that the Demon Lord had not ascended, but was running away?
“After all, from ancient times to the present, there are no small amount of rumors about ascending to immortality. Take the secret I’m about to tell you as an example; in truth, my Medicine King Valley has a senior who has ascended as well. That senior was the one who gave our Medicine King Valley that secret healing technique you just witnessed via dream message.”
Judging by Ye Wenxin’s attitude, Ling Jue thought the girl did not believe in ascending and thus forthrightly said the secret she had intended to tell Ye Wenxin earlier.
Ye Wenxin was surprised. “You mean immortal techniques actually exist in this world?”
“Of course. In fact, many ancient inheritances came from the higher realm, it’s just that no one has ever met a true immortal before, so it’s assumed that they’re just ancient, esoteric manuals or cultivation methods. No one ever thought that the realm we’re in is merely this world’s lowest level.” Ling Jue smiled somewhat sadly. As she was saying this, she suddenly realized that she did not belong in the strong individual category, even in this lowest-level realm.
Ye Wenxin went silent, even more shocked by Ling Jue’s argument.
If this world truly did consist of many realms, could she keep aiming to be the best in the world?
Wanting to avoid dwelling on this distressing topic, Ye Wenxin fell back onto the grassy ground. Staring up at the moonlit and starry sky, she suddenly relaxed again.
“The world is so vast, and humanity’s existence is so insignificant, but if they work hard, anyone can become a star.” Ling Jue, seeing the change in Ye Wenxin’s mentality, took this moment to lie back on the grass as well, and softly offered her consolation.
Unbeknownst to her, Ye Wenxin had not realized her own insignificance at all, but was thinking of becoming much stronger. Strong enough to go and explore new realms, to travel around……
But she did not say this. After messing around with Ling Jue all night, her already limited brain cells were completely exhausted. Now feeling Ling Jue’s warmth again, she could not help but get a little closer, shutting her eyes near Ling Jue.
“Little Sister Wenxin, don’t sleep here. You’ll catch a cold.”
“Little Sister Wenxin, how can I leave at ease with you being like this?”
In her sleep, Ye Wenxin only heard the melancholy in these two sentences from Ling Jue, but she did not want to move or muse; she only wanted to sleep beneath this warmth until the end of time……
Ye Wenxin woke up with the rising sun, yet found that at some point, she and Ling Jue had returned to the nearby abandoned cabin.
Ling Jue slept next to her, breathing evenly, the corners of her mouth lifting up in a smile, seemingly in the midst of a wonderful dream.
Thinking about it now, yesterday’s Ling Jue was, to put it plainly, like the most vivid nightmare Ye Wenxin had ever experienced. Ling Jue struggled in the dream, summoning up all her courage and choosing to confess her love.
Ye Wenxin vaguely answered in the manner of their agreement, and looking back now, she felt as if she had been too evasive. But for Ling Jue and Ye Wenxin, under this agreement, they could maintain their relationship as both teacher and friend.
‘We’re fine the way we are now.’ Ye Wenxin comforted herself, and then felt Ling Jue move. Without avoiding it, she watched Ling Jue slowly open those beautiful eyes.
Without using the Yin-Yang Transformation, and without wearing male clothing, she looked absolutely eminent.
“Everything feels like a dream.” Ling Jue, noticing Ye Wenxin’s gaze, could not help smiling. Her hair was still a bit disheveled, and as long as Ye Wenxin’s gaze lowered, it seemed like she could see snow-white skin.
Her body was slightly more slender than the average woman’s, yet unexpectedly fleshy. Ling Jue’s beauty lay in her slimness. Even though the side effects had been healed, she still gave off the illusion of being delicate and fragile, as beautiful as water, calm and unruffled.
“Yes, like a dream.” Ye Wenxin, unwittingly drawn in by Ling Jue, responded a moment later.
Ling Jue remained smiling, much sweeter and more buttery than earlier, as if she could not restrain her joy at all.
“I really don’t want to wake from this dream.”
Her voice carried some regret, as if she too had noticed that the sun was already high in the sky. As the Junior Valley Master of Medicine King Valley, this was the first time Ling Jue had gotten up so late.
“Then sleep some more.” Ye Wenxin could not help but feel tenderness towards Ling Jue, wanting to let her rest a bit longer while she went to find some food to fill their stomachs. Then, she felt pressure around her waist.
“What’s the point of dreaming alone? I want to dream with you.” She tightened her hold, once again pressing against Ye Wenxin. It was another gentle kiss, yet a little too prolonged.
Ye Wenxin did not refuse and was even a bit enchanted by Ling Jue’s kiss. She did not know whether it was due to her Iceborn Constitution or whether Ling Jue had aroused her passion for kissing.
Ye Wenxin grimaced in pain from the occasional touches on the spot Ling Jue had bitten, but Ling Jue had no intention of healing it, and even naturally kissed it a few times.
“Does it hurt?”
“Why don’t you try having me bite you once?” Ye Wenxin was quite helpless, finding Ling Jue at this moment somewhat terrifying, yet she did not dare to act recklessly.
“It’s good that it hurts. That way, you’ll remember me… Little Sister Wenxin, you must remember me.” Ling Jue’s voice carried her stubbornness, and Ye Wenxin allowed her greedy demands.
She kissed so reverently, so slowly, as if she wanted to carve everything about Ye Wenxin deep into her bones.
They both knew how difficult it was to fulfill this agreement in the current world, and precisely because of this understanding, Ye Wenxin did not stop Ling Jue from acting bold.
Needless to say, it all came to an end eventually, but a sense of reluctance was still visible in Ling Jue’s eyes. She watched Ye Wenxin look at her skin, every inch and every part.
“It would be better if I wasn’t such a sensible person.” Ling Jue, feeling it was a little hard to bear, let out a helpless sigh. She knew that if she crossed the line, Ye Wenxin would have no hope of hiding her Iceborn Constitution.
Its overly pleasant scent would drive every cultivator in this world crazy.
“If you weren’t such a sensible person, I probably wouldn’t bother to care about you.” Ye Wenxin unhurriedly straightened out her clothes. Maybe because the pleasant lingering effect on her face had yet to fade, she looked even more languid, just like a cat.
If Ye Wenxin were to transform into the appearance of Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, one could only imagine how rapturous that posture would be.
But just Ye Wenxin’s current appearance as a little beauty was enough for Ling Jue to not dare to keep looking, and she mentally chanted sutras to calm the heat in her Dantian.
Ye Wenxin did not dare to continue disturbing her, lest she burn herself from playing with fire. She dutifully dressed herself neatly and waited outside for Ling Jue.
Ling Jue came out after a while. Her voice was gentle as usual, but her eyes carried a bit of shyness.
“Little Sister Wenxin, I’m done.”
In fact, Ye Wenxin was the one most embarrassed, not knowing how it had carelessly happened again. When she realized it, they had almost crossed over the line.
But she was uncertain if she had imagined it, when she was with Ling Jue, she could even sense a certain gentle force slowly engulfing the hostile energy produced from long-time killing within her body.
Ye Wenxin had more doubts in her heart, but basically speaking, she did not dislike being intimate with Ling Jue.
