Chapter 163: Trapped by Emotions (First Update)
Fairy Fengya shifted her gaze once again, looking towards where Ye Wenxin was.
Ye Wenxin reflexively took out a book from her bag of holding to block her face, pretending she had not noticed Fairy Fengya’s caring gaze.
“Big Sister, Fairy Fengya is looking at me!”
“Do you know what the biggest delusions in life are?” Ye Wenxin turned her head to look at Fatty. He did not have a male lead halo, yet, somehow thought like a lead character.
“Dunno, what is it?” Fatty, his attention still completely on Fairy Fengya, did not notice Ye Wenxin’s scornful eyes, and naturally responded.
“Firstly, you think that the person you like, likes you back.”
Ye Wenxin recalled and stated the first point.
“Sigh, but I feel like girls should like me. I mean, look at my… Wait, where did all my fat go?!” Fatty could no longer be called fat; he had lost all his excess weight, and looked like a model youth. If only he could be a bit more reserved in the way he looked at women, he might actually manage to find a Dao companion.
Ye Wenxin chuckled without saying a word, then continued, “Secondly, you think that you will never become an ordinary person.”
Fatty grinned even more smugly. “I used to think I was just an ordinary person, but ever since I met you, Big Sister, I realized my life has changed completely.”
His flattery skills were steadily improving too. Ye Wenxin just smiled lightly, not exposing his pandering. To be honest, even if Gu Aotian was still a male lead, it would not necessarily help Fatty grow.
Most lead characters were self-centered, focusing on their own prosperity and power before considering others. This was human nature; however, Gu Aotian seemed to have missed this opportunity.
“But I really think Fairy Fengya is looking at me!” Fatty repeated excitedly. Ye Wenxin was speechless. She had intended to remind him not to indulge in daydreams, but instead, his fantasies had only grown more intense.
Ye Wenxin put down the book in her hand and smoothly looked toward where Fairy Fengya was. This time, she did not avoid her gaze. When their eyes met, Ye Wenxin’s heart involuntarily skipped a beat.
“She’s looking at me.”
“Big Sister, you’re really funny. You just talked about the three great delusions in life. You and Fairy Fengya have no connection whatsoever; why would she be looking at you?” Fatty laughed; Ye Wenxin was the delusional one.
“What about you, then? What connection do you have with Fairy Fengya?” Ye Wenxin rolled her eyes at Fatty. Interacting with him was far more relaxing than dealing with those girls.
Wait, why had no man shown interest in her despite her Iceborn Constitution? Logically, it should not cause such an imbalance in gender attraction. Suddenly reminded of this oddity, Ye Wenxin’s words faltered, and for a moment, she felt a wave of discomfort.
However, Fatty did not notice Ye Wenxin’s expression and continued boastfully, “Of course I have a connection with Fairy Fengya; Aotian used to be my brother!”
This convoluted connection exasperated Ye Wenxin even more, but that was no longer her main concern. She leaned in closer and quietly asked, “Fatty, do you think men would like me?”
Fatty shuddered and looked terrified, as if he found Ye Wenxin’s question incredibly frightening.
“Big S-Sister, before Xiao Zhang left, she said that if any of us dared to have improper thoughts about you, she would come back and cut off our third legs! Y-you better not fall for me now!”
“What kind of weird misconception are you having now?! Hold on, Xiao Zhang actually threatened you guys?” Ye Wenxin became even more unsettled. She thought that everything Xiao Zhang had done was already the full set, but it turned out there was still more.
No wonder these underlings were always reluctant to get close to her—Xiao Zhang had already made all the preparations to secure a future with her.
Thinking of this, she looked up at the high spectator stand and could not help but glare at Xiao Zhang for a few beats.
Just a few seconds after doing this, Ye Wenxin sensed bitingly cold sword energy (jian qi) pass by her shoulder, looking again, she saw a large mark left by a sword beside her. Fatty had already collapsed to the ground, his legs weakened by fear, while Ye Wenxin had not even sensed killing intent.
Confused, she turned her head, and saw Fairy Fengya gracefully approaching to stand right in front of her.
“Fairy Fengya, what are you doing?! If you step out of the ring like this, it will be considered your loss!” Fairy Caihong gritted her teeth in hatred. She had used all her strength just now, but could not even scratch Fairy Fengya, and with just one move, Fairy Fengya had forced her into a miserable state and even ran down from the ring.
Fairy Caihong felt even more humiliated and could not help but curse angrily.
Fairy Fengya just gave a faint glance, and then looked at her own unruly disciple again.
Even though she was the one on the ring, it seemed her only disciple lacked too much reverence, which made Fairy Fengya unable to resist a slight tremor in her hand, causing her sword to veer off course.
“Are you hurt?” Fairy Fengya asked.
“Does emotional pain count?” Ye Wenxin looked at the situation, realized something was wrong, and sat down on the ground, faking pain, while cursing eighteen generations of Fairy Fengya’s ancestors in her heart.
She just knew Fairy Fengya did it on purpose. Now she was even dragging hatred onto her; was she forcing her to face the whole world’s malice?
Fairy Fengya’s lips twitched, her prepared lines were completely choked back by Ye Wenxin’s words. She gave Ye Wenxin a faint glance and eventually took out a bottle of pills from her bag of holding.
The bottle of pills looked familiar—it was clearly the pills that Ye Wenxin had given her initially.
Ye Wenxin wanted to cry. She inwardly cursed Fairy Fengya for being petty, but with so many people around, it would be bad to make Fairy Fengya lose face, so she reluctantly accepted the pills. The moment she drew near, Fairy Fengya said a few words and then quickly left.
Upon hearing this, Fairy Caihong shouted loudly, “Fairy Fengya, are you admitting defeat?”
“Yes, I am.” Fairy Fengya nodded without a care, leaving Fairy Caihong red-faced with anger. Even though she had won, she felt as if she had lost the entire world.
Moreover, Fairy Fengya successfully harvested a group of die-hard fans.
“No wonder she’s Fairy Fengya; she cares so much about us ordinary disciples!”
“Fairy Fengya is truly worthy of her reputation; she’s not just the top unparalleled beauty, even her heart is as pure as a fairy’s.”
“Ah, I want to be that pill.”
Everyone expressed inexplicable emotions, and their envy and jealousy towards Ye Wenxin were self-evident.
But they had no idea that the long-rumored Fairy Fengya had even lost her first kiss to this unknown small character.
Ye Wenxin’s mood was even more complicated. She regretted not throwing a tantrum to demand something from her stingy master earlier.
“Bi-big Sister, can I lick one?” Fatty’s expression was weird, like some peculiar creature entering puberty, but his words were still honest.
However, the pills originally belonged to Ye Wenxin, and the thought of Fatty using them as Fairy Fengya’s goods sent shivers down her spine.
She forced a smile and gritted her teeth, saying, “No, it’s mine.” With everyone watching, she put the bottle into her bag of holding.
Many Azure Wings Sect disciples who recognized Ye Wenxin’s identity knew she was the biggest merchant among the outer disciples, and several who had been prepared to bid felt Ye Wenxin’s actions were a great pity.
As the next round of battles continued, everyone’s attention was not on the matches, because Fairy Fengya had just left.
Although she was beautiful, the damage she caused was significant.
People still had her image in their minds, but they did not know she had come for someone and, even more infuriating, that someone had not even watched her fight from start to finish.
At this moment, that unforgettable person was standing on a certain high platform.
Fairy Fengya: Zhu Ling, is it really effective?
She was looking at a certain completely oblivious someone. The more she looked, the more regretful she felt. The great-grandma’s tricks had no effect at all; Ye Wenxin still lacked reverence.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, I think you can try a few more times. Maybe she will notice your greatness.
Fairy Fengya: …
Zhu Ling: Mistress, you’re getting emotional.
Fairy Fengya: I’m just a little angry.
Fairy Fengya narrowed her eyes slightly, but soon opened them again, her eyes clear once more. Whenever she thought of those words from Ye Wenxin, and her disdainful actions, it triggered annoyance.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, maybe she did it on purpose to get your attention.
Fairy Fengya: I think she did it on purpose to provoke me emotionally, to make me fall into Qi Deviation again.
Fairy Fengya could not understand; she always felt that Ye Wenxin deliberately behaved the way she did, to annoy her. But little did she know, Ye Wenxin was still resisting her in her heart. Because of Fairy Fengya, she even went so far as to lower herself from the mighty Demon Lord, the strongest in the world, to an ordinary person, just to come to the Azure Wings Sect.
However, neither of them knew about all this. They were still trying to understand the other party’s intentions based on their own perspectives.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, I also think she wants to see you go into Qi Deviation again.
The great-grandma nodded in agreement. For some reason, ever since they came to know Ye Wenxin, their discussions had become quite twisted.
After this statement, Fairy Fengya fell silent, as did the great-grandma. It seemed like they were both thinking about what Ye Wenxin had done in a certain cavern.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, you’re getting emotional again.
Fairy Fengya: Once I overcome this Tribulation of Emotions, can I kill her?
A fire burned in Fairy Fengya’s heart as she recalled those events.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, aren’t you afraid you won’t be able to bear it when the time comes?
Fairy Fengya: Impossible.
Zhu Ling: Tribulation of Emotions, being trapped by emotions, only by facing them can you overcome them.
As the great-grandma’s voice continued to echo in Fairy Fengya’s mind, she looked at the figure in the distance, her white skirts swaying gracefully without wind, looking quite enchanting
