Chapter 174: Another Wild Love Rival Appears
“Ye Meijing” knew she could not avoid Fairy Fengya, but she still subconsciously lowered her voice and asked, “Then why inform me this early?”
“Oh, Her Highness was afraid you’d be too busy?” Xiao Zhang said this a little confusedly; she did not understand why Her Highness had been so strange lately, both in conduct and bearing.
“Hahaha, then let’s do as Her Highness wishes.”
“Ye Meijing” laughed happily. She was eager to catch up with Long Qingyue; however, thinking about how she would have to watch over the socially awkward Fairy Fengya for the next three days, she decided to follow Long Qingyue’s plan.
Xiao Zhang nodded. She should be leaving, but for some reason she leaned back in and hooked arms with “Ye Meijing”, beckoning her closer.
“Ye Meijing” thought this was even stranger, but seeing the solemn look on Xiao Zhang’s face, she complied and leaned in. She then heard her say, “Careful with this mercenary; she has other things in mind for you.”
“Ye Meijing” wanted to laugh even more. As she was about to comfort Xiao Zhang by saying, ‘She’s really not your love rival’, she felt a soft lick on her ear.
“Ye Meijing” quivered before she could get her words out.
“You don’t even know when someone’s selling you out. The way she looks at you, it’s very suspicious,” added Xiao Zhang uneasily. She could not help feeling that she should follow Long Qingyue’s suggestion to take things by force, but she was afraid doing so would traumatize Ye Wenxin, so she kept hesitating.
“She looks at me like I’m a dead person, er, no…Cough, cough, I shouldn’t be jinxing myself. Anyways, don’t worry, I won’t be like that with her even in the next life.”
“Ye Meijing” covered her ear, backed away slightly, and quickly explained the pure relationship between her and Fairy Fengya.
What a joke! That was Fairy Fengya; how could that martial maniac develop any feelings towards humans?!
“But who is she?”
“Fairy Fengya.”
“Ye Meijing” shrugged. Xiao Zhang, looking helpless, could only poke her cheek lightly in warning: “Know your place a little; stop flirting with women.” Saying this, she gave Fairy Fengya a rather meaningful glance and walked away, heading towards the high platform.
Xiao Zhang’s intimidation confounded “Ye Meijing”. She cried out, “I clearly denied it, didn’t I?!”
She did not care that she was shouting like this in public, yet Xiao Zhang ignored her and soon returned to Long Qingyue’s side.
“So? Is it a love rival?” Before Xiao Zhang could report the results, Long Qingyue had already started with the questions.
This was the Golden Age Dynasty’s Eldest Princess, but Xiao Zhang was finding out more and more that Her Highness the Eldest Princess was like a little girl who loved to gossip.
“Answering Your Highness, Wenxin said she wasn’t.”
“And you believed that thick-skulled Miss Ye’s words?”
“This Subordinate naturally doesn’t, so I gave her a little reminder,” responded Xiao Zhang seethingly. She sounded very frustrated.
She had just been observing Ye Wenxin and that stranger “Ye Meijing” from a distance, but a few sentences from Long Qingyue stirred her inner fears. She was concerned that Ye Wenxin, being so young, might be easily misled emotionally.
And then, Long Qingyue smoothly took advantage of the situation and brought up the matter of inviting Ye Wenxin, which led Xiao Zhang to impatiently jump into the fray.
Seeing Xiao Zhang’s crestfallen face finally satisfied Long Qingyue’s playful heart, but she hid it and assumed the airs of the Eldest Princess again, saying, “Then who is that person?”
She was naturally asking about the current “Ye Wenxin”.
“This Subordinate doesn’t know. Wenxin only said she was a mercenary.”
“She must be an incredible mercenary. Do you think it could be Fairy Fengya?” The musing in her eyes became even more obvious. Others in the tournament venue might not have noticed the anomaly that was Fairy Fengya, but she certainly did.
No doubt about it, her best friend had gotten off the Demon Lord’s high horse and aligned herself with Fairy Fengya. However, Long Qingyue could not shake the feeling that the two’s relationship might be developing in an interesting direction.
If Xiao Zhang’s opponent was Fairy Fengya, no, if every woman’s opponent was Fairy Fengya, there was absolutely no winning chance.
Long Qingyue thought Xiao Zhang would look even more miserable after hearing the answer, but she suddenly chuckled. “Your Highness, you’re like Wenxin sometimes.”
Long Qingyue, somewhat intrigued, inquired, “Is that so? What part?”
“Well, you both like to crack bad jokes; it’s quite humorous.”
Xiao Zhang rather awkwardly told the truth, making Long Qingyue feel completely uncomfortable. But she was not like Ye Wenxin, so she just gave a small smile in response to Xiao Zhang’s tactful remark, without any significant emotional reaction……
The scene shifted back to “Ye Meijing”, who noticed Long Qingyue and Xiao Zhang’s interaction from a distance and suddenly realized that the latter’s abrupt appearance had been deliberately arranged by Long Qingyue.
Too bad Long Qingyue could not find any gossip about her. As “Ye Meijing” was thinking this, she sensed a cold gaze from the side.
“Master, why’re you glaring at me? Look at the stage; you’ll be competing later!”
“Ye Meijing” lowered her voice and turned to Fairy Fengya, disguised as “Ye Wenxin”. No matter how she looked at it, she felt that Fairy Fengya had completely destroyed the friendly persona she had finally built up.
Just when she thought Fairy Fengya was going to glare at her until it was time for the opening ceremony, Fairy Fengya suddenly asked.
“Who is she?”
“Ye Meijing” was a bit at a loss on how to respond, then realized Fairy Fengya was talking about Xiao Zhang. She naturally explained, “Oh, you mean Xiao Zhang? She’s my friend.”
Fairy Fengya quirked her brows almost imperceptibly, feeling more and more lies were coming out of “Ye Meijing’s” mouth. At this moment, she even dared to lie so openly in her master’s presence.
“Would a friend be called ‘Sister-in-law’? I may not understand human emotions, but even I know what this means.”
“It’s because of your lack of emotional understanding that you got discovered after three seconds,” retorted “Ye Meijing” sarcastically. If it were not for Fairy Fengya’s poor acting skills, they would not be encountering one trouble after another. As she said this, she seemed to glimpse another familiar figure.
There was still some time before the event began, and “Ye Meijing” loathed herself for coming too early, so early that everyone was in the mood to come over and say hi.
“Ye Meijing” wanted to skip, but Fairy Fengya was one step ahead of her. She gently patted her shoulder and kept her in her seat.
“Ye Meijing” just felt a strong force suppressing her, and all the bones in her body went weak, as if she had eaten Weakness Powder. She was not sure what skill it was this time. When she looked again, a wild mon—no, a wild Gu Xiangsi—had appeared and was already standing in front of her.
With her was the person suspected to be her master—one of the three elders in charge of the Hall of Teaching, Jin Xiaoqin.
