Chapter 189: Testing the Boundary of Taking Risks
Looking again, a couple hurriedly passed by, and “Ye Meijing” moved closer to Fairy Fengya, blocking “Ye Wenxin’s” overly recognizable face.
“What are you still looking at? Hurry up.”
“Don’t you think that disciple looks familiar?”
“That’s why we should hurry even more. It would be troublesome if we were recognized.”
“Ye Meijing” listened with a wry smile. She could recognize these two from afar.
One was the Sect Master of the Azure Wings Sect, and the other was the Garden Master of Beast Taming Garden. However, she hadn’t expected that these two, who were quite old, would still act like young people seeking excitement in a place like this.
If she remembered correctly, the story between the Sect Master and his Dao companion had long become a celebrated tale within the Azure Wings Sect. Now, seeing him here with the Garden Master, indulging in romantic escapades, completely shattered the reputation of his supposed devotion.
Looking again at Fairy Fengya, her gaze was fixed on the place where the two had departed, perhaps wondering why they seemed so familiar, or she was simply making silent critiques with Great-Grandma.
“Ye Meijing” kept inching closer, thinking that her abrupt actions would elicit some emotional response from Fairy Fengya. But her countenance remained indifferent, showing no reaction to “Ye Meijing’s” invasive moves.
Refusing to give up, “Ye Meijing” moved even closer, this time bringing her face to Fairy Fengya’s nose. Yet, Fairy Fengya maintained her composure, as if “Ye Meijing” in front of her was nothing more than a corpse with body heat.
The sounds of wild trysts around them continued, but “Ye Meijing” lost all interest due to Fairy Fengya’s lack of reaction. Considering the cunning Sect Master might return, she hurriedly pulled Fairy Fengya along to keep moving.
Fairy Fengya didn’t understand the reason, but seeing that “Ye Meijing” had no ulterior motives, allowed herself to be led forward. They walked together, startling a flock of wild ducks along the way, and finally returned to their dormitory.
Pushing open the door, they found that Baili Mu was not in the room. “Ye Meijing” looked around and noticed a note on the table.
[Staying at a friend’s place.]
Even though it was just a short note, it hid a lot of Baili Mu’s heartache and grievances. “Ye Meijing” suddenly felt very sorry for Baili Mu. Just as she was about to ask Fairy Fengya when she would return to her cave, she turned around and saw that Fairy Fengya had somehow already changed into a different set of clothes.
“Ye Meijing” hadn’t noticed at all how Fairy Fengya had managed to change clothes, let alone seen any suggestive scenes. Moreover, Fairy Fengya had reverted to her original appearance and was now sitting on a chair with her eyes closed, resting. From her various actions, it seemed she intended to treat Ye Wenxin’s dormitory as her own cave.
“Ye Meijing” decided not to bother with her, undressed, and slipped into bed.
One minute… ten minutes…
“Ye Meijing” found herself unable to fall asleep; she opened her eyes, only to discover that Fairy Fengya was still staring at her.
Even though Fairy Fengya was beautiful, the darkness of the night made her appear somewhat menacing. “Ye Meijing” tried hard to turn her head away and not look at Fairy Fengya, yet she smelled her scent getting closer.
When she looked back again, she saw that Fairy Fengya had moved from the chair to her bedside, still maintaining a meditative posture. “Ye Meijing” felt even more puzzled, sensing that Fairy Fengya might be hinting at something.
After thinking for a moment, she decided to ignore Fairy Fengya sitting by the bed and tried hard to hypnotize herself into sleep.
Finally, as she started to drift off, “Ye Meijing” felt some movement beside her; someone seemed to be crawling into her bed.
Since there was no murderous intent, and recalling the many times Long Qing’er had disturbed her, “Ye Meijing” instinctively shifted a bit and turned towards the person.
Opening her eyes, she saw that Long Qing’er’s face had turned into Fairy Fengya’s; “Ye Meijing” closed her eyes again, but thinking about that face just now, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
Instantly, her hard-won sleepiness vanished, and she suddenly sat up. Fairy Fengya seemed to pay no mind to “Ye Meijing’s” movements, lying on her side and watching “Ye Meijing’s” varied expressions with curiosity, but not understanding why “Ye Meijing” was panicking.
Even more troubling was that “Ye Meijing” couldn’t speak because her Mute Point was still sealed, so she could only use body language to express herself.
The bed was not very big, and Fairy Fengya lay even closer; “Ye Meijing” decided to also lie on her side, staring back at her.
Both of them were wearing thin inner robes, and “Ye Meijing” could even see Fairy Fengya’s undergarment.
The silent interaction continued. “Ye Meijing” swallowed hard and extended her mischievous hand again, intending to push Fairy Fengya off the bed.
Before she could do so, hurried footsteps sounded from a distance.
“Sis! Sis!”
It was Gu Xiangsi’s voice. “Ye Meijing” frowned slightly and hurriedly gestured at her throat to Fairy Fengya. Understanding immediately, Fairy Fengya released “Ye Meijing’s” Mute Points and Dantian acupoints, then swiftly disappeared from the room.
“Ye Meijing” finally found her voice working smoothly; apart from still wearing “Ye Meijing’s” face, she had regained her true freedom.
However, Gu Xiangsi’s late-night visit made “Ye Meijing” feel uneasy. She put on an outer robe and opened the door, only to see Gu Xiangsi, looking extremely anxious, with reddened eyes.
“What’s wrong—” Before “Ye Meijing” could finish her sentence, Gu Xiangsi had already rushed into her arms. “My… my brother, he…” Gu Xiangsi’s tears fell, and “Ye Meijing” frowned slightly, as if she could already picture a familiar scenario.
“Calm down first…” Taking out a Heart-Cleansing Pill from her bag of holding, “Ye Meijing” gave it to Gu Xiangsi. After a moment, Gu Xiangsi finally managed to speak clearly, recounting the events of the night.
“They somehow heard that my bracelet was a divine artifact and went crazy trying to steal it. I saw my brother explode right in front of me…” Gu Xiangsi recounted the horrifying scene she had witnessed, her delicate face turning pale.
Although “Ye Meijing” had anticipated that the two of them would ignore her advice and continue using their Qi, she hadn’t expected them to act so quickly.
“What about your brother now?”
“I don’t know. I was so scared, I just ran to find you,” Gu Xiangsi replied frantically, her body still trembling uncontrollably.
“Ye Meijing” glanced covertly at Fairy Fengya, who was hiding atop the ceiling beam. With Fairy Fengya here, she would lose sleep anyway; she decided to go out and see the situation, and perhaps confirm whether Gu Aotian was truly dead.
“Let’s go, we’ll check it out.” Upon hearing this, Gu Xiangsi instinctively hugged “Ye Meijing” even tighter, clearly seeing her as her last emotional anchor.
“Ye Meijing” smiled wryly at Gu Xiangsi’s gesture. She thought she had finally managed to distance herself from one of the female leads, but it seemed some mysterious force was pushing Gu Xiangsi back to her.
