Chapter 194: Is It Bad to Be a Beast? (First Update)

Hei Tong, still unsure of what Ye Wenxin was up to, saw Fairy Fengya already standing in front of them. She swallowed her questions, and slightly leaned forward to look at Fairy Fengya. “Lass, why are you here?”

“Have you seen her?” Fairy Fengya got straight to the point, glancing briefly at Ye Wenxin before focusing on Hei Tong. Ye Wenxin was a bit surprised but then relaxed, knowing that cultivation was all Fairy Fengya cared about. She loosened her grip on Hei Tong a bit.

Noticing Ye Wenxin’s change in demeanor, Hei Tong maintained her expression as she feigned ignorance, asking, “Her, who?”

“The one whose bones were shattered with a single palm strike,” Fairy Fengya elaborated, causing Ye Wenxin, who was holding Hei Tong, to almost cough up blood.

She could only turn her grief and anger into a desire to hold on. Hei Tong, feeling the tightening grip around her waist, struggled in Ye Wenxin’s arms, but to no avail.

Fairy Fengya noticed something off about Hei Tong’s situation and pointed at Ye Wenxin, asking, “Is this person bullying you?”

Her tone was calm, but the words were provocative. Ye Wenxin resisted the urge to lash out, smiling gently at Fairy Fengya.

“I’m just playing around with this little one,” Ye Wenxin replied with a smile. Her tone and demeanor were unlike her usual self.

Hearing Ye Wenxin’s teasing words, Hei Tong couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times, feeling that Ye Wenxin was acting a bit different today.

While a spirit beast could sense the changes in Ye Wenxin, Fairy Fengya showed her no interest. After getting the answer she needed, she nodded slightly and turned to leave.

Hei Tong sighed in relief, thinking she was finally going to escape Ye Wenxin’s deadly embrace.

However, Fairy Fengya turned back and added, “Sorry to interrupt your fun; if you see my disciple, please tell her I’m looking for her.” She spoke calmly, seemingly thinking they were about to engage in some wrestling, and thus added this final remark.

Ye Wenxin didn’t clarify, instead pretending to be very interested in Fairy Fengya as she continued to ask, “Oh, and who’re you? I don’t even know your name. How should I respond if I see the person you’re talking about?”

Fairy Fengya hesitated for a moment. “Hei Tong knows.” With those words, she quickly departed, leaving behind only the fallen leaves kicked up by her swift exit.

Ye Wenxin frowned, dissatisfied. She was about to complain to Hei Tong when she noticed the blush on Hei Tong’s face. Ye Wenxin became increasingly puzzled as she observed Hei Tong’s attempt to break free from her embrace, which only caused her loose outer garment to slide off even more.

As the garment slipped off her fragrant shoulders, Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but admire Hei Tong’s current appearance. With a hint of desire in her eyes and a flush on her cheeks, Hei Tong looked like a flower waiting to be plucked. This version of Hei Tong was no longer reminiscent of a spirit beast. She exuded human charm—ethereal and captivating.

Hei Tong seemed to realize something was amiss as well, biting her lip slightly as if struggling internally. Ye Wenxin immediately withdrew her hand, and upon reflecting on Fairy Fengya’s earlier reaction, she finally understood why Fairy Fengya had apologized.

“Cough, cough, cough… I accidentally exerted too much force.” Ye Wenxin quickly helped Hei Tong back into her clothes, but Hei Tong looked even more displeased.

“Wenxin, why aren’t you doing anything?”

“If I did, I’d be no better than a beast!” Ye Wenxin exclaimed, feeling helpless. She felt the need to strengthen certain aspects of Hei Tong’s education.

Hei Tong looked even more confused, tilting her head. “Is it bad to be a beast?”

Ye Wenxin almost spat out blood at her words, struggling to control her emotional turmoil. Eventually, she opened her bag of holding and took out a Heart-Cleansing Pill to suppress the wicked thoughts that had just arisen within her—thoughts she shouldn’t have towards someone, certainly not towards a beast.

“Why?”

“……”

Ye Wenxin didn’t want to speak any further and felt Hei Tong shaking her, asking for an explanation. After a moment’s thought, Ye Wenxin gathered her Qi in her Dantian and forcibly made herself cough up blood.

“Cough, cough, cough… I overexerted myself when I fought Gu Aotian today; I need to go back and heal,” she said, realizing it would take too long to explain the ethical complexities involved. With Fairy Fengya still searching nearby, Ye Wenxin decided to make a quick exit and leave Hei Tong behind.

“Injured? Are you in pain? Is it unbearable?” Hei Tong’s expression changed as she listened, looking as if she feared Ye Wenxin might die; she began circling around Ye Wenxin anxiously.

“I’m fine, I’m fine. I just need some time to recuperate. Cough, cough, cough… You be a good girl, and I’ll be on my way.” Ye Wenxin made an effort to cough a few more times, hoping that Hei Tong would let her go. After much coaxing, Hei Tong finally released her, allowing Ye Wenxin to leave.

She walked quickly along the path, once again using her Bone-Shrinking Technique to transform back into the guise of “Ye Meijing” based on her memories.

As her current clothes had been seen by Fairy Fengya, she casually took out a casual outfit Ling Jue had once bought for her, and changed into it.

Seeing all of that had concluded, “Ye Meijing” finally heaved a sigh of relief, but did not return to the dormitory immediately. Instead, she sat in the small grove where she had once taken Fairy Fengya, waiting for her to notice her presence.

The surrounding area was filled with loud voices; for some reason, people seemed to enjoy wrestling in the woods. Initially, “Ye Meijing” found it somewhat interesting, but soon, sleepiness began to overtake her.

The wait was long and uncertain, making it an even more uncomfortable experience.

She sat there, each moment thinking to herself, “If Fairy Fengya doesn’t come soon, I’m really going to fall asleep.” As she thought this, she finally saw someone approaching under the moonlight. Dressed in white, with hair like snow, the moonlight cast upon her, making everything else around lose its color.

By now, more than half an hour had passed since “Ye Meijing” sat down, and her body was starting to feel a bit stiff. She only glanced up at Fairy Fengya before turning her gaze back to the distant wrestling matches.

“You really do like this place,” Fairy Fengya said, breaking the silence. She remained standing where she was, not making any move to get closer to “Ye Meijing.”

“Other than being a bit noisy, isn’t this place quite beautiful? Look at the mountains, the trees…”

Seeing that Fairy Fengya thought of her as a shallow person, “Ye Meijing” began to praise the small forest’s environment. However, her limited knowledge meant she hadn’t memorized many ancient poems, making it difficult to showcase her earthly cultural heritage effectively.

Fairy Fengya listened and then walked over to sit beside “Ye Meijing”, joining her in watching the wrestling match in the distance.

The two women, still unaware of being observed, continued their various emotional exchange.
