Chapter 213: Peach Blossoms Blooming (Third Update)
After all, Ling Jue had been with her the longest and was the only person Ye Wenxin couldn’t bring herself to reject outright. She ate absentmindedly, and Jin Xiaoqin seemed similarly distracted.
Today’s clash between Fairy Fengya and Jin Xiaoqin had become the hot topic of discussion among everyone. Despite efforts to keep it under wraps, gossip was unstoppable. It was likely that Fairy Fengya had already returned to her usual routine of closed-door training.
“If you go into Qi Deviation again, I won’t help you,” Ye Wenxin thought to herself, remembering the significant amount of Qi Fairy Fengya had expended. Continued cultivation could lead to another bout of Qi Deviation.
She resolved that no matter how dire Fairy Fengya’s situation became, she would not intervene.
“Wenxin, what are you muttering about?” Jin Xiaoqin asked, more focused on the surrounding gossip to catch Ye Wenxin’s words.
“It’s nothing, just thinking that the food here is really delicious,” Ye Wenxin replied with a smile. The dishes on the table were all made from ingredients rich in spiritual energy, which would greatly benefit their cultivation.
Compared to the meals she had as an outer sect disciple, Ye Wenxin felt like she had transitioned from a regular street stall to a five-star hotel.
As they were eating, a group of people entered the dining hall. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be the Sect Master of Azure Wings Sect, accompanied by the leaders of other sects, coming to dine.
Many disciples followed behind them, appearing to be the apple of their respective leaders’ eyes.
Among them, Ye Wenxin also spotted Xi Mengxuan, who seemed to notice her and gave her a soft smile.
Due to what happened at the tournament, Ye Wenxin hadn’t had the chance to chat with Xi Mengxuan and explain her situation.
However, upon careful thought, they had only met briefly, so Ye Wenxin didn’t go out of her way to create more opportunities to talk, intending to let things happen naturally.
Looking again, Ling Jue, whom she hadn’t seen earlier, was also present. She was still surrounded by admirers, but her smile seemed somewhat distracted, even tinged with sadness.
It had been a year since they came to know each other at the Azure Wings Sect. Ye Wenxin speculated that Ling Jue might be feeling down due to their impending separation, so she decided to have a private chat with her in the evening as a gesture of their acquaintance.
Whether this farewell would be a permanent one or the beginning of their next meeting, was not within Ye Wenxin’s scope of consideration.
Seeing the arrival of important figures, the chefs in the dining hall immediately began serving dishes.
The Sect Master was awfully busy, while the other elders and school masters were busy engaging in conversations with leaders or disciples from other sects, creating a joyous and harmonious atmosphere.
Ye Wenxin found it somewhat amusing and couldn’t help but glance around a bit more.
Jin Xiaoqin seemed interested too, taking the opportunity to introduce Ye Wenxin to the other elders and school leaders of the Azure Wings Sect.
She advised Ye Wenxin to take note of their faces, suggesting whom to get close to and whom to keep at a distance in the future.
Knowledge ran deep, and social interactions were always a bottomless pit. Jin Xiaoqin understood the ways of the world, and seemed quite adept at reading people. Ye Wenxin listened attentively, then noticed the Cave Master of Broken Dragon Cave.
The Broken Dragon Cave specialized in the business of the dead, excavating ancient tombs and exploring secret realms. Whenever such matters arose, representatives of this sect would invariably be present.
As Ye Wenxin focused her attention, she checked the Cave Master’s luck aura once again, and saw that it was now shrouded in dark clouds, almost as if he were nearing his end.
His face was ashen, brows furrowed in deep thought, which made Ye Wenxin realize that her previous ominous words had come true.
Thinking about how she had just damned him to hell, Ye Wenxin felt she should leave to avoid suspicion. She didn’t want everyone to blame her when the Cave Master of Broken Dragon Cave passed away.
But after considering it, most people had already noticed her. If she were to leave now, it would only draw more attention.
So, she suppressed her thoughts and continued snacking on peanuts while listening to Jin Xiaoqin chatter about the school masters and elders.
Jin Xiaoqin talked very little about Fairy Fengya, and perhaps no one had truly understood their reclusive junior sister.
Initially, Ye Wenxin found the stories of others amusing, but as time went on, she grew bored and began responding perfunctorily.
Her gaze wandered again, but this time she continued observing the auras of the people around her.
Ling Jue now had a faint golden aura around her, but strangely, this golden color was tinged with pink. Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but feel that this peculiar aura had something to do with Ling Jue’s ambiguous relationship with her.
Could it be that Ling Jue’s infatuation with her was merely a result of her own luck aura, without any genuine love?
Ye Wenxin pondered on this further. If Ling Jue’s infatuation was indeed influenced by her peach blossom aura, then perhaps no one truly harbored genuine feelings for her.
It could be that they were merely temporarily infatuated due to her aura’s influence.
But with increased distance, the aura’s effects diminished, and their relationship would revert to that of ordinary friends.
However, all of this was just speculation, with no evidence to confirm Ye Wenxin’s thoughts. She continued observing the people around her, searching for any distinctive auras.
Suddenly, she noticed a woman sitting beside the Cave Master of Broken Dragon Cave, staring at her with a malicious gaze.
Ye Wenxin felt inexplicably targeted and couldn’t recall where she had seen this woman before. However, the intensity of her stare made Ye Wenxin certain that they had crossed paths.
Suspecting that the woman might be using a disguise, Ye Wenxin used her Divine Sense to inspect her.
She discovered that the woman’s true appearance was bruised and swollen, with her right hand completely devoid of flesh, revealing her to be Su Mei.
As Ye Wenxin pieced it together, she finally understood why the Cave Master was targeting her. It turned out that Su Mei, realizing she couldn’t use her Qi, had sacrificed her own integrity to seduce the Cave Master, gaining herself a new supporter.
Now, seeing the faint black and red aura around Su Mei, it was likely that by getting too close to the Cave Master, she had brought misfortune upon herself as well.
Su Mei remained oblivious to her impending fate, and was even more unaware that Ye Wenxin had uncovered her true identity. A sinister smirk played across her lips, as if she were imagining herself tearing Ye Wenxin limb from limb.
Meanwhile, Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but inwardly sneer. If she guessed correctly, perhaps her best friend was also stirring the pot, pushing Su Mei further down the path of destruction alongside the Cave Master of Broken Dragon Cave.
In the end, however, who would be the first to lose patience and kill them both?
Ye Wenxin figured it might still be her.
Unlike Long Qingyue, she wasn’t extremely patient. If Su Mei tested her limits again, she would break Su Mei into pieces.
Ye Wenxin picked up her teacup and downed it in one gulp, masking the obvious killing intent in her eyes.
Immediately, her eyes returned to their usual unadulterated look, and she resumed observing everyone as if appreciating beautiful scenery, checking their auras.
