Chapter 228: Domineering CEO, Long Qingyue (Fifth Update)
“Her? Honestly, Fairy Fengya is indeed, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I’m a woman, and even I would be swayed sometimes, but she, has no interest in love…”
“Isn’t that even more intriguing?”
“In fiction, but not in reality. Try prying open such a wooden heart. Besides, you don’t know Fairy Fengya, she’s…”
Ye Wenxin’s voice stopped abruptly, and Long Qingyue’s gaze also shifted outside. The two tacitly halted their conversation.
After a moment, a voice came from outside: “Your Highness, may I come in?”
It was Xiao Zhang. Apparently, she had discovered the dead Su Mei and Cave Master outside, but she couldn’t see Ye Wenxin anywhere, so she was anxiously looking for her.
Long Qingyue leaned closer to Ye Wenxin, whispering in her ear, “She really loves you.”
“That’s not love, just a commitment,” Ye Wenxin replied silently. Subconsciously, she tried to transform into her other self, Ye Wenxin, but Long Qingyue stopped her.
“No need for that much trouble,” Long Qingyue continued, taking out a talisman from her storage ring. With a wave of her hand, the talisman immediately ignited and transformed into a humanoid figure.
This figure, with the same appearance as Ye Wenxin, was a puppet talisman, the most commonly found type of talisman.
Typically, puppets made from such talismans were used as substitutes. They couldn’t move and lacked their own emotions, but could be posed in various positions like action figures.
Ye Wenxin immediately got the hint, threw the puppet onto the bed, and covered it with a blanket. Instinctively, she prepared to hide in the closet. But as she did so, she realized something was wrong.
“Why are you hiding?”
“I’m confused too.”
Ye Wenxin sighed helplessly, realizing more and more that she had picked up too many bad habits at the Azure Wings Sect.
Even though she hadn’t done anything wrong, she found herself instinctively reacting with evasion.
Xiao Zhang had no idea that she was Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, let alone associate the Demon Lord with Ye Wenxin. Thinking of this, Ye Wenxin reverted to her Gu Qingcheng persona.
She sat down and resumed acting ostentatiously, holding a wine cup. Long Qingyue smiled lightly and called out towards the door, “Come in.”
A few seconds later, Xiao Zhang entered the room, anxiously searching for Ye Wenxin.
At first glance, she noticed the unfamiliar woman sitting with Long Qingyue, drinking tea. On the second glance, she saw the figure sleeping on the bed, and finally breathed a sigh of relief. She respectfully bowed to Long Qingyue.
Long Qingyue asked, “Is everything fine now?”
Xiao Zhang respectfully replied, “Yes.”
“Then you may leave.”
“Well, Your Highness, may I take Wenxin with me?” Xiao Zhang was still a bit uneasy, feeling that these three people in the same room together seemed somewhat unnatural.
Realizing this, Xiao Zhang instinctively looked again at the unfamiliar woman. This time, she saw the woman’s face and instantly froze, forgetting to react.
“What’s the matter, little one?” Ye Wenxin, with a different tone, gaze, and presence, looked at Xiao Zhang while continuing to sip her tea, careful not to give away more clues.
“Greetings, esteemed Demon Lord.” The next moment, Xiao Zhang respectfully bowed, her body starting to tremble uncontrollably. The fear in her eyes grew, as if she couldn’t comprehend why such an important figure was in the room.
“So, there are still people who remember this retired old person,” Ye Wenxin said with feigned sentimentality, finally realizing she didn’t need to pretend to be young and could instead enjoy acting her age.
“I saw the Demon Lord once when I was very young,” Xiao Zhang said, the fervor in her eyes evident, as if recalling that brief childhood encounter.
Unexpectedly, after so many years, she could see the Demon Lord again.
However, Xiao Zhang’s confusion grew. She couldn’t help but glance at the person on the bed, worried that Long Qingyue sought Ye Wenxin with her Iceborn Constitution for Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng’s sake.
“Don’t worry, This Palace only borrowed her, and won’t touch her or take her life.”
Now, Ye Wenxin could personally explain to Xiao Zhang, without needing to worry that Long Qingyue would add oil to the fire.
“Yes, thank you, my lords. I shall take my leave…” Xiao Zhang sighed in relief, and after a third glance at the person on the bed, she respectfully withdrew.
The room returned to silence. Neither of them spoke. On one hand, Xiao Zhang was still directing people to clean up outside. On the other hand, they didn’t know what to say next.
“You’ll stay the night, won’t you?” In the end, it was Long Qingyue who broke the silence.
Ye Wenxin thought about her schedule for the next few days and politely declined, “I’d better not. I have other things to attend to.”
“Being with me isn’t important?”
“You’re sounding more and more like you’re going through menopause,” Ye Wenxin joked, having no better answer.
Long Qingyue’s face darkened. “So is that a yes or a no?”
She grabbed Ye Wenxin, quickly pressing on her vital point. Ye Wenxin easily pulled her hand away, only for Long Qingyue to pin her down.
The two engaged in a one-handed contest, neither gaining the upper hand, until the table could no longer withstand the force of their dominating Qi and split in two.
The loud crash attracted the attention of those outside, but no one dared to knock or inquire about what was happening in the room.
“No.” Smiling, Ye Wenxin used this moment to refuse Long Qingyue.
“Oh, then you can leave.” Long Qingyue retracted her hand and pointed to the window.
Ye Wenxin was genuinely planning to get up and leave. However, looking closely, she noticed that the room was layered with talismans, all of them had somehow been activated.
Realizing that leaving this talisman-covered room would require considerable effort, she decided to sit back down in the chair, unwilling to waste time fighting with Long Qingyue.
“Bit ruthless of you.”
“Others have done this; why can’t I?” Long Qingyue replied.
Ye Wenxin finally couldn’t resist asking the question she most wanted to ask.
“Yue’er, are you jealous?”
She knew she shouldn’t have, but Long Qingyue’s behavior was so unusual that Ye Wenxin realized there must be a reason for it.
Long Qingyue’s expression remained calm as she leisurely sipped her tea. “If I were jealous, it wouldn’t look like this.”
Ye Wenxin became intrigued and continued, “Oh? Then if you were, what would you do?”
A cold glint flashed in Long Qingyue’s eyes. “If you follow me, I will pamper you; if you betray me, I will kill you.”
