Chapter 233: Why Are You Back Again? (Tenth Update)

“Just because she has a connection with the Demon Lord?” Ye Wenxin was rendered speechless. She really couldn’t understand these people’s thoughts.

Even though everything was fake, everyone seemed to take the rumors as truth.

But on second thought, this could be a contingency plan Liu Churan had arranged, which left Ye Wenxin at a loss as to how to help Huang Hanyan out of this crisis.

No matter how hard Huang Hanyan worked, at this moment, she had become a sacrificial victim. Ye Wenxin felt sympathy for her plight; if it weren’t for their chance encounter, who knows what fate would have befallen Huang Hanyan.

“Yes; the Demon Lord, demon cultivators, these things we absolutely cannot get involved with. But I think Huang Hanyan is an innocent girl, it’s just… ” Jin Xiaoqin continued to sigh, the more she spoke, the more uncomfortable she seemed to feel.

Having seen so many of these joys and sorrows, she felt that the current positioning of the immortal sects versus the demon sects was too subtle. Sometimes, it even made Jin Xiaoqin feel as if they were the demon cultivators instead.

“So, you’ll be very safe. Don’t meddle in other people’s affairs and just do your part, understood?” Jin Xiaoqin continued to nag. Ye Wenxin nodded and asked a few more detailed questions.

The briefing quickly ended, and Ye Wenxin returned to her room, only to find that the Tower of Unfettered Dreams disciple who was supposed to have left, was still sitting there.

“Why are you back again?” Ye Wenxin was confounded.

The woman always kept her face covered, never allowing Ye Wenxin to see her face, making Ye Wenxin wonder if it was because she was either too ugly, or too beautiful.

But now, Ye Wenxin could discern the awkwardness in the Tower disciple’s eyes, as if she herself didn’t know why she had returned so soon.

“The Azure Wings Sect had activated their array, and I can’t get out,” the Tower disciple answered, somewhat helpless, seemingly unable to comprehend her own bad luck. Moreover, every time she was unlucky, she always seemed to encounter Ye Wenxin.

“Ah, that’s how it is. I was wondering how you managed to break through the array with your pitiful cultivation.” Ye Wenxin nodded, unable to resist switching to a mocking tone.

The Tower disciple became even angrier upon hearing this and was about to fight Ye Wenxin.

“Big Sister, I was wrong, alright? Don’t be mad. Why are you always so quick to anger?” Ye Wenxin was even more speechless, realizing just how fiery the Tower disciple’s temper was.

The Tower disciple didn’t say anything more, just clutched her chest and took a sharp intake of breath. Upon closer inspection, Ye Wenxin noticed that her wound had reopened.

“What sword technique did you use that day? Why haven’t my wounds healed yet?” The reason the Tower disciple sought out Ye Wenxin was precisely because, not only had her sword wounds not healed, but they had worsened.

The Tower disciple had originally intended to threaten Ye Wenxin for a cure, but instead, she ended up staying there.

“I’ve told you so many times, this is the Azure Wings Sect’s Sword Qi Technique.”

“Do you take me for a three-year-old? Can the Sword Qi Technique release a thousand strikes simultaneously?”

“Yes, it can, but your cultivation is too low, so— don’t hit me!” Ye Wenxin was even more exasperated. Seeing the Tower disciple’s wound getting worse, she had no choice but to help her change the bandages again.

In fact, even Ye Wenxin didn’t know how Fairy Fengya had managed it. The frightening part was that no matter how she used the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles, it didn’t change the situation.

“You…” The Tower disciple’s expression grew even more complex, but watching as Ye Wenxin started helping her change the bandages again, she remained silent.

The scene returned to calm, but whenever Ye Wenxin looked up, she would always catch the disciple glaring at her.

“Forget it. Seems we’re fated to meet. I’ll be leaving the Azure Wings Sect in three days. I’ll see if I can get you out then.”

Ye Wenxin remembered that she would be leaving in three days. This Tower disciple would soon have nowhere to go, and might even be caught by the Azure Wings Sect members.

The Tower disciple was quite surprised to hear this. Having overheard Ye Wenxin’s conversation with Jin Xiaoqin in the room, she couldn’t understand why Ye Wenxin would want to help someone like her, a demon cultivator.

“Why do you want to help me? I’ve killed more than a few of your people,” the Tower disciple couldn’t help but ask.

She noticed that Ye Wenxin hadn’t done anything these past few days, as if she genuinely considered her just a passerby in her life.

Ye Wenxin was taken aback. She was not usually a kind-hearted person, yet recently, she seemed to be doing a lot of out-of-character things.

She met the gaze of the Tower disciple, who was also looking at her.

The woman had a beautiful pair of eyes and a wheat-colored complexion that seemed familiar to Ye Wenxin, though she couldn’t recall where she had met her before.

Remembering the Tower disciple’s question, Ye Wenxin ran her fingers through her hair and continued, “I have a grand wish.”

“A wish? What does that have to do with me?”

“I wish for world peace and an end to all wars,” Ye Wenxin responded with a serious expression. The Tower disciple scoffed, thinking Ye Wenxin was talking garbage.

“This world can never have peace.”

“That’s why my wish is so grand. And look, by saving you, I’ve taken the first step toward world peace.”

Ye Wenxin struggled to come up with a better answer. She was much better at being a bad person than a good one.

The Tower disciple sneered and drew a dagger from her bag of holding, holding it to Ye Wenxin’s neck. “Tell me the truth.”

“Your eyes are very beautiful,” Ye Wenxin added another nonsensical remark.

This time, however, the Tower disciple seemed to be shaken. Her hand trembled, and the sharp dagger lightly grazed Ye Wenxin’s neck.

In an instant, Ye Wenxin felt blood flowing from her neck. The Tower disciple, also startled, looked at Ye Wenxin, and awkwardly said, “I didn’t mean to.”

“I know. If you did, I’d already be dead.”

Ye Wenxin calmly pulled out a handkerchief from her bag of holding, skillfully stopped the bleeding and numbed the pain, as if the person who had just lost a lot of blood wasn’t her.

After finishing, Ye Wenxin didn’t say anything more. The Tower disciple’s voice softened. “Sorry…and thank you.”

Ye Wenxin just waved her hand dismissively, pushing aside all the curses she had been mentally directing at the disciple and her entire family.

Then, she went off to the dining hall to get lunch for both of them.
