Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 238

Chapter 238: Please Call Me Lei Dada (Fifth Update)

Sha was the Tower Master’s surname.

After hearing this Tower disciple say her surname was Sha, Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but feel like she should just strangle her to death right then and there.

“Are you the Tower Master’s daughter?”

“No, I am the Tower Master.” (TL: Wut?)

“……”

Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but take a few more glances.

Sha Nian-nian felt uncomfortable being stared at, but continued to glare at Ye Wenxin disapprovingly.

“What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a Tower Master who’s not yet twenty years old?”

“No, I haven’t seen a Tower Master who almost got herself killed during assassination.”

The Tower of Unfettered Dreams was once considered brassy, until the encounter with Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng.

The previous Tower Master, surnamed Sha, had been trounced so hard by Ye Wenxin, that it made him question his life choices.

Looking at this young girl, Ye Wenxin thought that the previous Tower Master had gone timid and therefore pushed the Tower Master position onto his daughter.

“Hey, if it weren’t for your kindness, I would have killed you by now!” Sha Nian-nian was even angrier upon hearing this, leaving Ye Wenxin speechless.

“Not necessarily. If I weren’t kind-hearted, do you think, based on my personality as an Alchemist, I wouldn’t have ground you into medicine or force-fed you medicine? Would you still be so well-fed and fair if it weren’t for me?”

Sha Nian-nian fell silent, seeming to find Ye Wenxin’s words quite reasonable.

Ye Wenxin didn’t linger either. She walked out of the room again, remembering that she hadn’t given Sha Nian-nian a few pills from the ones she just refined to snack on.

As she pushed the door open again, she saw that Sha Nian-nian had already removed her mask.

At first sight, she saw a beautiful and delicate girl.

She had wheat-colored skin and refined, slightly striking features, but upon noticing Ye Wenxin, she revealed a few traces of panic.

She wanted to cover her face with the mask again but accidentally knocked over the teacup beside her, making a mess.

“You…”

“What do you mean, ‘you’? I’m here to bring you some pills.”

Ye Wenxin increasingly felt that Sha Nian-nian looked familiar, but her memory was too vague to recall when she had seen her before.

“I…” Sha Nian-nian seemed to want to say something, but despite her efforts, she couldn’t utter a single word.

Moreover, she was so flustered that it was as if her personality had suddenly changed. Earlier, she was like an explosive tigress, but now she had turned into a shy, stuttering girl.

“Could it be that you have a stutter?”

The familiar line naturally slipped out of Ye Wenxin’s mouth, and her memory finally clicked, recalling where she had seen Sha Nian-nian before.

This Sha Nian-nian was one of the Tower assassins that Ye Wenxin encountered on the way to the Alchemist assessment exam.

Because Ye Wenxin found her attractive and thought they could chat later, she spared her life.

Unexpectedly, this Tower assassin turned out to be a weakling Tower Master.

Even more unexpectedly, Sha Nian-nian had indeed come looking for her, seemingly unable to forget their encounter1.

“No, I-I don’t…” Sha Nian-nian tried to argue passionately, but no matter how she spoke, she couldn’t prevent her stuttering from taking over.

“Fine, you don’t.” Ye Wenxin looked at her with a hint of sympathy, then watched as Sha Nian-nian put her mask back on.

The fierce demeanor of a tigress reappeared, making her look incredibly ferocious.

“You bastard, how dare you talk to me like that!” This time, she really intended to kill Ye Wenxin to keep her secret.

Ye Wenxin, unhurried and now aware of Sha Nian-nian’s weakness, quickly dashed forward to tear off her mask again.

With the mask off, Sha Nian-nian reverted to the shy, stiff-faced, and stuttering young girl, looking so aggrieved that she seemed close to tears.

Ye Wenxin found it amusing and put the mask back on her.

It was like the mask acted as a switch to her personality, but in reality, it was just a psychological barrier.

Ye Wenxin had great fun with it, though.

Finally, she smiled in satisfaction and gave this weak Tower Master a new nickname.

“Alright, from now on, I’ll call you Little Stutterer.”

“I…”

“’I’ what?”

“You…”

“Hehehe, have you ever heard this saying?”

“Wh-what?” Sha Nian-nian couldn’t keep up with Ye Wenxin’s pace, but still tried hard to squeeze out more words to overcome her speech impediment.

“What’s owed must always be repaid… These past few days, you’ve been exploiting my labor, eating my food, and using my things. Is it too much for me to have a little fun with you?”

Ye Wenxin smiled slightly. It seemed like the frustration she felt from Madam Yu, had inadvertently been vented on this adorable little stutterer.

“It-it is! You—” Sha Nian-nian was genuinely angry. She lunged forward again, but Ye Wenxin raised her hand, and a blood-red long sword appeared.

“This…”

“Oh, this is an enhanced version of my Sword Qi Technique, made with blood. Hurts a lot when it hits. Do you want to try?”

Ye Wenxin still wore that small grin.

Sha Nian-nian obediently sat back down, the grievance in her eyes so obvious, but she had no way to vent her frustration.

Ye Wenxin hid the mask and pointed to the clothes.

“Get used to these clothes over the next few days. As for the mask, I’ll be keeping it.”

It seemed like Sha Nian-nian wanted to say something, but as soon as she made a sound, the door slammed shut.

Ye Wenxin went back downstairs and resumed refining pills. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, she kept hearing the sound of a knife sharpening upstairs.

There was no need to guess; this cute little stutterer was planning to give Ye Wenxin a fatal blow while she slept.

However, Sha Nian-nian found that no matter what she did, she couldn’t kill Ye Wenxin. Every time, she ended up being overpowered and pinned down.

“Sigh, you remind me of your father…”

“You… how…”

“Oh, I gave him the same beating back then, hehehe…”

Ye Wenxin’s smile was radiant, with a hint of wickedness that she made no effort to hide.

Sha Nian-nian couldn’t find any charm in that smile. She clenched her fists, vowing to knock Ye Wenxin’s teeth out someday.

Yet, after three days of attempted poisoning, assassination, traps, and even seduction, Sha Nian-nian found that none of it worked.

“Lei-Lei Dada, w-who are you really?” Little Stutterer tried to inquire about Ye Wenxin’s true identity.

Ye Wenxin smiled faintly, unable to resist showing off.

“Everyone who asked that question is dead.”

Sha Nian-nian shut her mouth and didn’t speak again, nor did she have another chance to make a move, because today, Ye Wenxin was leaving the Azure Wings Sect to escort Madam Yu back to Green Isle Manor.

After changing into the Azure Wings Sect disciple robes, Sha Nian-nian followed Ye Wenxin to the meeting place.

Inwardly, Ye Wenxin felt somewhat uneasy.

As they approached the meeting place and saw the dense crowd, Ye Wenxin grew increasingly unsettled.

The Sect Master of Azure Wings Sect, various elders, and Ye Wenxin’s master Jin Xiaoqin, were all among them.

Behind her, Sha Nian-nian was even more anxious, feeling like a lamb entering a tiger’s den. She clung tightly to Ye Wenxin’s robes, looking like a nervous young bride.

Seeing Sha Nian-nian in this state, Ye Wenxin understood that she was afraid of being exposed. So, she naturally took Sha Nian-nian’s hand in hers.
