Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 256

Chapter 256: It’s Truly a Green Isle (Sixth Update)

Madam Yu noticed Ye Wenxin observing her with that strange expression and asked impatiently, “What is it?”

Ye Wenxin quickly averted her gaze. “Nothing; I just think you have a really good relationship with Ni Ni.”

Madam Yu seemed reluctant to discuss this topic further and simply replied with a single word, “Yes.”

Just a mention of Qiao Ni and Madam Yu’s eyes would soften. Yet whenever she looked at Ye Wenxin, her expression always carried coldness.

This chill was not intentional; it stemmed from a genuine loathing towards Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin was aware that Madam Yu didn’t like her. If she suddenly saw the daughter she had raised for a long time mingling with a delinquent girl, even Ye Wenxin, as a mother herself, would instinctively feel repulsed without understanding the other person’s situation.

Moreover, in Madam Yu’s perception, this delinquent girl, Ye Wenxin, had various complicated social relationships.

“Is your injury getting better?” Ye Wenxin couldn’t help asking again. Madam Yu’s expression turned even colder, as if every additional word from Ye Wenxin might prompt her to produce some poison and kill Ye Wenxin with it.

Ye Wenxin dared not ask further. She sat obediently on the side, waiting for Madam Yu to finish washing dishes. Then, Madam Yu led her to a room.

“You’ll rest here tonight. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to Green Isle Manor,” Madam Yu said before closing the door.

After watching Madam Yu leave, Ye Wenxin took out a small silver needle from her bag of holding. With a few deft movements, she opened the hidden clasp.

Ye Wenxin placed the Soul Sealing Ring beside the bed, took off her outer robes in one fluid motion, and couldn’t help but sigh. “Thankfully, it’s similar to last time. Ah, it’s just too painful to sleep with this damn thing.”

After meditating inside that pit for two days, it was Ye Wenxin’s first time encountering a bed. Although she wasn’t particularly sleepy, the bed was incredibly comfortable. After rolling around a few times, Ye Wenxin couldn’t resist falling asleep……

As the next morning arrived, Madam Yu began knocking on the door from outside.

Ye Wenxin was still half-asleep. When she sensed Madam Yu approaching the room, she immediately put on the Soul Sealing Ring.

Seeing Ye Wenxin hadn’t escaped, Madam Yu sighed with relief, set down breakfast, and continued, “Let’s eat and hit the road.”

Breakfast was light, with a rich aroma wafting from it. Ye Wenxin didn’t refuse, finished her breakfast, and then followed Madam Yu out of the courtyard.

At the meeting place, she saw the other Azure Wings Sect disciples waiting for them.

Everyone was quite surprised to see Ye Wenxin, but with evident amusement in their eyes. Obviously, they had different ideas about Ye Wenxin going to a brothel.

Some of them thought Ye Wenxin was brave, and some thought she was too unrestrained.

Ye Wenxin pretended not to notice the meaning behind their gazes. She greeted them before describing the pleasant few days she had spent at the brothel.

The thin-skinned male disciples flushed up to their ears, while the bold ones listened with excitement, asking Ye Wenxin for the continuation of the story.

Madam Yu listened with a subtle frown. Although she had never been to a brothel, she roughly knew what one looked like. Hearing Ye Wenxin’s vivid descriptions, Madam Yu figured she must have gone in and out of such places frequently.

Now, at fourteen years old, Ye Wenxin might become even more unrestrained in a few more years. Seeing Ye Wenxin chatting endlessly, Madam Yu, displeased, reminded her, “Miss Wenxin, it’s time to get on the carriage.”

Ye Wenxin hurriedly responded, bid farewell to the other disciples, and boarded the carriage to Green Isle Manor.

The carriage was spacious enough to accommodate over a dozen people without issue. Ye Wenxin originally wanted to sit closer to Madam Yu, but Madam Yu kept moving away, unwilling to engage with her.

Ye Wenxin, feeling helpless, explained her innocence. “Madam Yu, I think you’ve misunderstood.”

“After hearing your earlier remarks, I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding,” Madam Yu narrowed her eyes, dropped a remark, and quickly closed her eyes as if dozing off.

Ye Wenxin held back her frustration. She touched the Soul Sealing Ring around her neck, and couldn’t help asking, “By the way, Madam Yu, what level of cultivation can this Soul Sealing Ring restrain?”

Ye Wenxin sensed the formation engraved on it, but it didn’t seem to be as effective as the Immortal Sealing Ring Liu Churan had used.

“Below Nascent Soul stage,” answered Madam Yu, and seeing as Ye Wenxin seemed to be interested in the Soul Sealing Ring, she continued, “Why, do you have someone you want to ensnare?”

The person who emerged in Ye Wenxin’s mind was Fairy Fengya. Recalling she was at ninth-stage Tribulation, Ye Wenxin inquired somewhat curiously, “I do, but she’s higher than Nascent Soul. Is it possible to restrain her?”

Madam Yu thought for a moment and replied, “In theory, it’s possible. However, the costs would escalate significantly if we continue to forge higher. A single Soul Sealing Ring alone would cost at least tens of millions of spirit stones. I wonder if the cultivation level you refer to as ‘high’ is worth more than an entire dynasty.”

Ye Wenxin recalled the Immortal Sealing Ring that even had an effect on her. For some reason, she had a feeling that Liu Churan had used all of the Wind and Moon Palace’s assets just to create this worthless item.

Yet even if that were true, it wouldn’t be nearly enough. Despite the relative wealth of the Wind and Moon Palace, it couldn’t come up with such a large sum.

If Liu Churan had really risked the stability of the Wind and Moon Palace for such a thing, news of an economic crisis or some other nefarious deeds would have surfaced by now.

Yet everything seemed calm, leaving Ye Wenxin to suspect that Liu Churan was keeping more than one thing hidden.

It was a shame that the adopted daughter she had raised for so many years, whom she should have been closest to, now seemed to be the one who had deceived her the most.

Ye Wenxin sighed inwardly. Watching Madam Yu rest with her eyes closed, she didn’t disturb her and closed her eyes as well…

The carriage rocked along the road for who knows how many hours before finally coming to a stop.

The coachman’s voice could be heard from outside. Madam Yu opened the curtains, glanced out, then turned to Ye Wenxin, who was still pretending to sleep, and said, “Get up; we’ve arrived at Green Isle Manor.”

Ye Wenxin slowly opened her eyes, watched Madam Yu step down from the carriage, and followed suit.

A tall drawbridge greeted them as they stepped down. The bridge slowly lowered before them, creating a passable path.

Looking around, there was a green lake with an impressive manor standing at the center, creating a picturesque scene.

“So it’s called Green Isle, and it’s actually an island.” Ye Wenxin chuckled softly, quite pleased with the layout of Green Isle Manor.

Madam Yu didn’t respond to Ye Wenxin’s jest; her gaze fixed ahead to where a group of guards and maids had already walked out onto the lowered bridge.
