Chapter 282: Terrific Skills (4th Update)
Ye Wenxin found Madam Yu’s display of girlish demeanor quite amusing, but refrained from teasing, mindful of past experiences. She simply held her close as she watched the Shura Hall disciple raise a commotion in the distance.
But before long, the commotion abruptly ceased. The Shura Hall disciple, who had been lively just moments ago, suddenly felt a heavy blow to her head. Looking again, there was a woman dressed in a similar Shura Hall uniform standing there, glaring at the two people embracing with intense disapproval.
“Sister, why have you come?”
“If I hadn’t, how would I have known you were doing such a thing to my Dao companion!?”
The two conversing Shura Hall disciples bore a resemblance to each other, and their words made Ye Wenxin feel like she was witnessing a melodramatic soap opera scene after enjoying a midnight express train ride.
However, amidst the currently dull scenery around her, this melodrama seemed just right, and Ye Wenxin found herself appreciating it with relish. She couldn’t help but comment on the elder sister’s fierceness and the younger sister’s boldness.
Yet, unsure if it was her imagination, Ye Wenxin sensed that Madam Yu’s expression looked even more peculiar. However, Madam Yu remained silent, clutching onto Ye Wenxin’s clothes, lost in her own thoughts.
Ye Wenxin was quite puzzled. She was about to inquire about Madam Yu’s well-being when the fighting suddenly came to a halt. Looking over, several disciples of Shura Hall arrived from the sky on their flying swords.
Ye Wenxin’s gaze fell on Qian Bingxue, Shura Hall’s Head Senior Sister, accompanied by Third Senior Sister Liu Yansheng.
One cold and the other hot, the pair’s contrasting auras once again heightened the atmosphere at the scene. Ye Wenxin had originally thought she could quietly observe from the sidelines, but then Third Senior Sister Liu Yansheng gracefully descended and smiled at her.
“Sure enough, you’re here.”
Ye Wenxin felt a chill run down her spine. She had assumed these two had come to mediate issues for Shura Hall, but unexpectedly, Liu Yansheng had sought her out.
“Long time no see, Miss Liu.” Ye Wenxin gave a strained smile, trying to distance herself verbally from Liu Yansheng.
However, Liu Yansheng was not willing to let Ye Wenxin off so easily. Her eyes showed a hint of resentment as she continued, “We’ve exchanged Dao companion tokens. Why are you acting so distant now?”
Her aggrieved tone struck a nerve that left a lingering discomfort.
However, after speaking, Liu Yansheng quickly glanced towards Madam Yu with a hint of mockery in her eyes.
“Madam Yu, hope you’re well,” she said, finally acknowledging Madam Yu’s presence with a slight nod. Madam Yu looked upset. Ye Wenxin, initially puzzled, suddenly recalled that Liu Yansheng was Liu Churan’s disciple.
Given how Liu Churan had personally trained her, it was natural for Liu Yansheng to be aware that Madam Yu was her master’s sister. However, judging from their attitudes, it seemed that Liu Yansheng and Madam Yu didn’t have a good relationship.
The drama unfolding before Ye Wenxin amused her more than the earlier sisterly squabble. However, before she could fully enjoy it, Head Senior Sister Qian Bingxue had already knocked out and dragged the barely clothed troublemakers in front of them.
Qian Bingxue’s presence was even colder compared to before, especially when she looked at Ye Wenxin, as though she wanted to freeze her. Ye Wenxin found herself inexplicably perplexed and instinctively greeted her, “Miss Qian, I trust you’ve been well.”
Qian Bingxue nodded slightly, and coldly remarked, “The Dao companion token is broken. I’ll give you a new one when there’s a chance.”
She stated her intention plainly, hinting at Ye Wenxin to hand over the previous Dao companion token. Ye Wenxin was even more confused. She couldn’t understand how, by merely participating in the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament, she had caused such a sweeping change in Shura Hall.
Liu Yansheng smirked but then approached Qian Bingxue and continued, “Head Senior Sister, why don’t you just keep using mine?”
Qian Bingxue remained silent, simply taking the token Ye Wenxin handed her and then promptly dragging away the two unconscious Shura Hall disciples.
Liu Yansheng showed no intention of lingering either. Smiling, she leaned close to Ye Wenxin, planted a light kiss on her cheek, leaving a crimson mark of rouge. She glanced at Madam Yu before speaking softly to Ye Wenxin, “Until we meet again.”
Without another word, she flew away on her sword. The entire encounter lasted less than five minutes, but Ye Wenxin successfully attracted jealous and envious looks from everyone around her.
Amidst all this, however, Ye Wenxin was still holding someone in her arms.
“Big Sister, you’re amazing! You even have your hands on Shura Hall…”
“Big Sister, if I became like you, do you think I could…”
The Cozy Gang little brothers snapped out of their shock, and Ye Wenxin could only smile wryly. Before she could explain anything, Madam Yu stirred in her arms and moved away from her. Looking at her expression and actions, as well as the disdain in her eyes, she clearly viewed Ye Wenxin as someone indulgent.
Ye Wenxin couldn’t voice the bitterness in her heart, but thankfully, the Flower Queen Night finally began. As drums and gongs resounded around them, and fireworks lit up the sky, a host appeared on stage.
With the music playing in perfect harmony, one by one, the courtesans from various brothels began their performances.
However, the audience seemed distracted; having witnessed the Shura Hall disciples’ performance moments ago, and seeing the stunning figures of Qian Bingxue and Liu Yansheng, they were not fully engaged.
There was also Madam Yu, who was many times more beautiful than any of the courtesans present, creating an indescribable contrast.
Watching this, Ye Wenxin’s mouth corners quirked up slightly, as if remembering the interesting things that happened when she was touring the world’s brothels with Long Qingyue. Sadly, none of those brothels had anyone as crushingly beautiful as Long Qingyue.
Beauties in brothels only appeared in novels. Ye Wenxin felt quite nostalgic, recalling what Long Qingyue had said back then.
“Some seek revelry, some just to get drunk, and some only one night of release. And you, what do you seek?” Ye Wenxin couldn’t help muttering to herself. The others had long run off to the front row, leaving only Madam Yu by her side.
“One night not spent alone,” answered Madam Yu.
Ye Wenxin was faintly startled. She looked at Madam Yu, who also happened to be looking at her.
Those eyes were too familiar to Ye Wenxin, not because they reminded her of Liu Churan, but as if they had made her feel something before.
That gaze quickly averted, and the music changed, followed by the appearance of an exotic woman. She wore a black veil and had a shapely figure, the sight of her stirring one’s heart.
This woman’s appearance finally swept away the crowd’s earlier boredom, bringing back the normal, merry atmosphere.
Ye Wenxin watched that recognizable belly dance, the way the woman’s waist twisted like a water snake, thinking this courtesan must have terrific skills in certain aspects.
“Big Sister, Big Sister, let’s go to this Winter Jasmine place tonight, alright?” Fatty squeezed out of the crowd, holding a flier for the brothel the courtesan on stage belonged to.
