Chapter 286: Only Spring Pills Were Left? (1st Update)
Ye Wenxin, harboring various thoughts, barely spoke with Madam Yu along the way.
However, there were other people in the carriage, and Ye Wenxin forced herself to chat with those influential figures about their so-called needs.
But it seemed they couldn’t openly discuss the topic in Madam Yu’s presence, which allowed Ye Wenxin to roughly understand what the male merchants desired. As for whether they dared to mention those medicines in front of her, it wasn’t something Ye Wenxin considered.
“Miss Wenxin, who is your master?” asked a luxuriously dressed bald man.
“If we’re to be precise, Ling Jue is considered half my master,” Ye Wenxin replied modestly. This explanation, however, made others’ eyes light up.
Although there were indeed many Alchemists in the world today, the finest naturally come from Medicine King Valley. If Ye Wenxin really had a connection with Ling Jue, then even this reputation alone could greatly enhance her fame.
The group discussed it fervently, so Ye Wenxin briefly summarized her experience as Ling Jue’s assistant. Their expressions grew increasingly excited. It seemed the mention of Ling Jue’s name had made them more respectful.
Ye Wenxin, seeing the positive effect, glanced at Madam Yu beside her. However, instead of appearing pleased with her performance, Madam Yu’s expression became even more complicated, leaving Ye Wenxin puzzled.
But the carriage was crowded, so Ye Wenxin had to suppress her questions. She planned to ask Madam Yu later if she had messed up somewhere.
The conversation didn’t stop there. After the male merchants finished their inquiries, two female merchants asked about Beauty-Preserving Pills, showing great curiosity about Ye Wenxin’s Alchemy skills.
“As long as the materials are available, I can certainly make the Beauty-Preserving Pill,” Ye Wenxin said, no longer modest. It was precisely because the ingredients for the Beauty-Preserving Pill were rare that the price was exorbitant and the pill was hard to come by.
Unexpectedly, the eyes of these female merchants lit up upon hearing this. One of them leaned out of the carriage to call to the servant walking alongside, “Go back to the house and bring my spatial ring.”
The servant was stunned for a moment but immediately ran off upon hearing the merchant’s order. Ye Wenxin had initially thought it would be difficult to gather the materials, but she underestimated these female merchants’ desire for beauty.
“I have always been troubled by the lack of a good Alchemist. Since I’m fortunate enough to meet you, Miss Wenxin, I hope you can fulfill my wish,” the female merchant said cheerfully. The materials she offered were worth a million spirit stones.
Ye Wenxin smiled, indicating she didn’t mind, but Madam Yu gave her a worried look, fearing that Ye Wenxin might not be able to handle the Beauty-Preserving Pill. Ye Wenxin, sitting beside Madam Yu, noticed the other merchants were still discussing something, so she leaned over and whispered in Madam Yu’s ear.
“Are you worried about me, Madam?” Ye Wenxin wasn’t leaning close to Madam Yu to flirt with her, but to ensure others couldn’t overhear their conversation.
Madam Yu’s body tensed slightly, but she didn’t pull away. She simply explained, “I’m afraid you might be playing with fire.”
“Don’t worry, I may not have many strengths, but I’m quite good at Alchemy,” Ye Wenxin smiled reassuringly, thinking about her experiences. She had developed her skills comprehensively in her secondary life, focusing most diligently on Alchemy and acupuncture.
As for her cultivation, Ye Wenxin often found herself at a loss, having an extreme bias in her abilities. She only knew Flower Burial, a visually appealing but fragile spell. Fortunately, the enemies in this world weren’t very strong, with only Fairy Fengya being particularly difficult to handle.
After the incident with Liu Churan, Ye Wenxin decided to learn to wield a weapon, even if her attempts made her look like a clumsy beginner.
As Ye Wenxin pondered her future plans, she heard the group finish their discussion, look at her again, and ask about other pills she could make.
Ye Wenxin naturally mentioned some common pills used by cultivators, such as the Vitality Pill, Qi Gathering Pill, and Spirit Gathering Pill. The group’s expressions varied; some were delighted, while others seemed disappointed.
“I can also make healing salves and remedies for colds, as long as the materials are available.”
“And what about… Spring Pills?” A male merchant, his face flushing red, couldn’t help but ask the question he most wanted to ask.
His body was already as thin as a bamboo pole, with protruding eyes, indicating his excessive indulgence in pleasures, leading to his current ghostly appearance. Yet, despite this, he still seemed obsessed with such matters.
Naturally, people like him were in the minority, and Ye Wenxin pondered which type to mention.
Should it be the ordinary Spring Pill, the advanced Spring Return Pill, or the Conjugation Powder? Or perhaps the legendary divine medicine, Arousing Love Star? She considered the levels she wanted to disclose and, after a moment’s thought, decided to take out a few bottles from her bag of holding.
“Here are Spring Pills, Spring Return Pills, and Conjugation Powder. I’ll distribute one of each to you all now. Remember, you can only take one type per day; otherwise, your body won’t be able to handle it. Especially with Conjugation Powder, you must be mentally prepared,” Ye Wenxin said as she opened the bottles and divided the pills into other empty bottles, distributing them to the group.
The aroma of the pills filled the air, and everyone swallowed involuntarily, as if they could sense the high quality of the pills. The skinny male merchant, in particular, looked overjoyed, as if he had obtained the most precious treasure in the world. His attitude towards Ye Wenxin became much friendlier, and he seemed eager to offer all his possessions to buy all the pills she had.
Although the others didn’t have such intense needs, seeing Ye Wenxin being so generous naturally made them more favorable towards her. For Ye Wenxin, however, these pills were among the cheapest to produce, so she didn’t think much of them.
“Miss Wenxin, do you have any other finished pills you could show us?”
“Yes, I’ve heard that Alchemy is very challenging, and it gets harder the more advanced the pills are. Do you have any outstanding creations you could share?”
Ye Wenxin initially intended to take out a few bottles of fifth-grade pills for them to see, but when she reached into her bag of holding, she remembered that she had given most of her pills to Fatty before, leaving only these Spring Pill-type ones.
She had to apologize, saying, “I used them all during the journey, but once we reach Green Isle Manor, I can demonstrate the refining process for everyone.”
She smiled and declined the requests from the group, but Madam Yu suddenly asked, “Oh, only Spring Pills were left?”
Ye Wenxin suddenly felt that Madam Yu was trying to pick a fight, but Madam Yu’s expression was merely curious, as if she genuinely wondered why Ye Wenxin had used up all the other pills but left a bunch of Spring Pills.
However, Ye Wenxin couldn’t very well explain that the Spring Pills had the lowest production cost, so she made more of them. She gave a faint smile, intending to brush it off with just that.
