Chapter 302: Someone’s Appearance is Off (5th Update)
The others were even more stupefied, completely unable to believe that Ye Wenxin had obtained the flying magic item, Phoenix Fire, in such a way. They had very peculiar expressions, as they assumed this was a new torture method Long Qing’er had invented.
But after Ye Wenxin examined the storage ring, she couldn’t help the slight smile on her lips. Inside, in addition to the Phoenix Fire, there were also many magic items and manuals Long Qingyue had sponsored. They seemed to be small gifts meant for her.
“Alright, the task is done. I’ll look forward to those pills, Junior Sister Wenxin.”
With that, Long Qing’er smiled and left. Ye Wenxin watched her depart, feeling a sudden sense of clarity. Turning around, she saw Jin Xiaoqin with a complex expression.
Thinking of Jin Xiaoqin’s earlier protectiveness and concern, Ye Wenxin tentatively asked about her thoughts on the Phoenix Fire: “Master, would you like me to give this Phoenix Fire to you as an apprenticeship gift?”
“Don’t think about tricking your master. I can’t make pills.” Jin Xiaoqin shook her head vehemently, unaware that Ye Wenxin was serious.
But giving the Phoenix Fire away right after receiving it might not be appropriate. Ye Wenxin decided to abandon this idea for now and wait to give the Phoenix Fire to Jin Xiaoqin on her birthday or some other occasion.
The surrounding crowd also began to gradually disperse. Ye Wenxin, carrying the priceless Phoenix Fire, returned to the true disciples’ compound and began diligently making pills again. This time, however, she focused on making Heart-Cleansing Pills, partly to benefit Fairy Fengya in return for this generosity.
Days passed, and the news of Long Qing’er’s apprenticeship gradually faded as the secret realm opened.
Only one hundred candidates could participate in the secret realm. Moreover, with the enormous cost of opening it and its rich rewards, everyone was fervent with excitement.
Before dawn, Jin Xiaoqin dragged Ye Wenxin out of bed. After washing up, Ye Wenxin noticed something unusual about Jin Xiaoqin’s appearance. She was wearing the same true disciple uniform as Ye Wenxin, giving her an ominous feeling.
“Master, isn’t this secret realm a trial for the younger generation?”
Jin Xiaoqin blinked innocently. “It is. I’m part of the younger generation, only 250 years old.”
Ye Wenxin was speechless, but thinking that having Jin Xiaoqin accompany her to the secret realm would only be beneficial, she stopped teasing.
After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she then followed Jin Xiaoqin to the gathering place.
At a glance, she saw that the crowd included three people of elder status. Among them was one person who gave Ye Wenxin chills.
Fairy Fengya was also dressed in red true disciple uniform. Her presence seemed so appropriate, yet she stood out among the Azure Wings Sect disciples, making her seem completely out of place.
This strange scene made Ye Wenxin feel that this was less like a secret realm treasure hunt, and more like a teacher taking a group of children on a spring outing, losing the intended purpose of the training.
“Recently, we received information that a large number of demon sect disciples have infiltrated the immortal sects. For the safety of our disciples, we elders will disguise ourselves as disciples and participate in the secret realm treasure hunt together,” announced the Sect Master of Azure Wings Sect, explaining the reason for the arrangement.
The true disciples looked at the white-haired elders and old ladies with subtle expressions, finding their disguises overly obvious.
In contrast, Jin Xiaoqin and Fairy Fengya blended in perfectly.
Nearby, the true disciples who had been bumped down looked as if they were about to cry. Jin Xiaoqin thought for a moment and then said, “Let me and School Master Fengya lead the team. With School Master Fengya, I believe there won’t be any major problems.”
Jin Xiaoqin was serious about this. Additionally, the two elders who had been forcibly included had such conspicuous appearances, that even if they used disguise pills, the other sects could easily see through them with divine sense. Therefore, Jin Xiaoqin decided to cooperate with Fairy Fengya.
Hearing this, the four eliminated true disciples’ eyes lit up, and they eagerly praised Elder Jin Xiaoqin’s suggestion. The Sect Master looked around and finally nodded, allowing two disciples to replace the elders.
“Why are you replacing me? I shaved my beard especially for today!”
“I even applied flower fragrance.”
The two elders complained a bit, but considering Jin Xiaoqin and Fairy Fengya’s cultivation levels, they ultimately fell silent. They watched as the disciples mount their swords and prepare to depart for the meeting location.
The scary part was that, except for Ye Wenxin, everyone else could fly with their swords. Jin Xiaoqin, worried that the weak Ye Wenxin might get bullied, had a long talk with the Sect Master, until he granted her permission to join the team.
Then, Long Qing’er’s Secret Guards investigated the movements of the demon sects. The Sect Master worried that Jin Xiaoqin might get overwhelmed, so he added Fairy Fengya to the team. This, ultimately resulted in two strange people being mixed into the team of twenty disciples.
“Don’t think too much about it, disciple. I’m going to the secret realm to hunt for treasures. If you perform well, I might reward you with some trinkets.”
Jin Xiaoqin’s unique way of comforting almost had Ye Wenxin in tears, when she saw Long Qing’er trying to invite Fairy Fengya nearby.
“Master, why don’t I take you there?” Long Qing’er wore a shy expression, looking like a maiden in love, while Fairy Fengya remained indifferent. Fairy Fengya, silent as ever, lightly stepped on the ground, elegantly summoning her long sword.
Her movements were smooth and stunning. To blend in with the team, Fairy Fengya even used the Bone Transformation Technique to change her appearance, but she still attracted too much attention.
Jin Xiaoqin gave a cold snort and extended an invitation to Ye Wenxin, who was still standing on the ground.
“Come on, disciple, get up here.” Just as Ye Wenxin was about to step up, she remembered the Phoenix Fire that Long Qing’er had given her and took it out of her storage ring.
For a moment, everyone’s attention was on Ye Wenxin.
“Don’t look at me like that. I can’t fly with a sword, so I have to use a flying magic item,” Ye Wenxin said with a smile. Jin Xiaoqin found this somewhat reasonable and jumped off her flying sword. “Hm, with this, your master doesn’t have to fly either.”
As she spoke, she openly hitched a ride on Ye Wenxin’s flying magic item.
Long Qing’er was slightly taken aback. After a moment of thought, she also brought out her own flying magic item and sat on it. Following that, the disciples who had flying magic items took them out, while those who didn’t rode on others’ flying magic items.
As for Fairy Fengya, she still did as she pleased, standing alone on her long sword, which made her stand out even more. The more Ye Wenxin looked, the more helpless she felt, so she invited Fairy Fengya to come sit with her.
Long Qing’er thought Ye Wenxin might embarrass herself, but to her astonishment, Fairy Fengya actually stepped onto Ye Wenxin’s flying magic item without saying a word.
Long Qing’er had a look of disbelief on her face, unable to understand why Fairy Fengya had such a different attitude towards Ye Wenxin.
