Chapter 322: I Do Like It
“Ahhhhh!” The situation devolved into people trampling each other. Even cultivators, in such a confined space, panicked like ordinary people. Ye Wenxin hugged Xuan Luofei and quickly pulled Xi Mengxuan behind her to avoid the chaos. She saw some people getting trampled repeatedly, and others being dragged by ghostly hands.
Jin Xiaoqin tried her best to maintain order, but it seemed futile. Ye Wenxin, finding the current area temporarily safe, hurriedly asked Xuan Luofei to play her qin.
As soon as the Demon Subduing Qin was played, everyone regained some calm. However, upon closer inspection, over ten disciples were missing, and many others were injured, without even knowing who had cut them.
Ye Wenxin let out a breath. She felt a close presence behind her and realized Xi Mengxuan hadn’t spoken. Curiously, she looked back, only to see the face of a Yin Fetus behind her.
“Xi Mengxuan, are you alright?” Ye Wenxin quickly shouted Xi Mengxuan’s name, and then she heard Xi Mengxuan’s voice from somewhere. Hearing this, Ye Wenxin didn’t hesitate to strike the Yin Fetus’s face, hitting it until it was a bloody mess, which finally made her feel a bit more at ease.
“Everyone, be careful! The Yin Fetuses are possessing people!” Ye Wenxin immediately warned everyone that Yin Fetuses might already be controlling the people around them.
The group became even more panicked, to the point where they were almost ready to walk with knives at each other’s throats.
Xuan Luofei was particularly helpless; her Demon Subduing Qin had limited range, and due to her cultivation level, she couldn’t protect everyone. If the Yin energy infiltrated someone’s body, it would be easy for the Yin Fetuses to consume their brains, turning them into puppets.
“Senior Sister Xuan, don’t push yourself too hard.” Seeing Xuan Luofei about to play the Demon Subduing Qin again, Ye Wenxin was very worried about her condition. But Xuan Luofei just shook her head and played again, casting a defense on a few disciples while quietly spitting out a mouthful of blood.
This kind-hearted and innocent act left Ye Wenxin feeling a bit exasperated.
Ye Wenxin quickly took out a few pills and had Xi Mengxuan stay by Xuan Luofei’s side for protection, then discussed the matter of scouting ahead with Jin Xiaoqin.
“Maybe if we scout ahead, we can find something that will clear this fog.”
“No, I can’t send you to your death.” Jin Xiaoqin sternly stopped her, unable to understand why Ye Wenxin, with her low cultivation level, was so eager to risk her life. Even she, in the Nascent Soul stage, wouldn’t dare attempt such a thing alone, yet here was Ye Wenxin willing to do it.
“Hehehe, my life is worthless anyway. Just let me go, Master,” said Ye Wenxin, while keeping an eye on Fairy Fengya. If Ye Wenxin went alone, it would certainly be perilous, but with the female lead, Fairy Fengya, present, Ye Wenxin believed everything would turn out fine.
However, despite Ye Wenxin’s persistent hints, Fairy Fengya showed no response and was even idly chatting with Great Grandma.
Frustrated, she finally pulled Fairy Fengya over and continued, “Master, if I take Xiao Feng-feng with me, you wouldn’t object, right?”
Jin Xiaoqin’s expression grew more complicated. She looked at Ye Wenxin, then at the group of bedraggled disciples behind her. Ultimately, she nodded and decided to let Ye Wenxin and Fairy Fengya go ahead and scout the situation.
Fairy Fengya remained silent, making Jin Xiaoqin feel particularly awkward. She reluctantly asked, “But Wenxin, have you asked for Xiao Feng’s opinion? Maybe she doesn’t want to.”
Ye Wenxin squeezed Fairy Fengya’s hand, signaling her to respond.
“It’s fine,” Fairy Fengya answered simply. Whether it was because of Ye Wenxin, or Jin Xiaoqin, she agreed to the request.
The group stayed in place, lighting flame stones as signal markers. Jin Xiaoqin gave Ye Wenxin some last-minute advice, then watched as the two quickly disappeared into the distance. Long Qing’er wanted to follow, but was eventually dissuaded by Jin Xiaoqin, though she still looked a bit dissatisfied.
Jin Xiaoqin looked at the restless Long Qing’er, and said meaningfully, “What’s meant for you will be yours.”
Long Qing’er retorted discontentedly, “What’s not meant for you, will never even glance at you.”
The two of them exchanged cryptic words, but there was no trace of humor in their eyes.
……
Ye Wenxin, unaware of the turmoil she had caused by dragging Fairy Fengya along on this adventure, continued walking leisurely with her in tow.
The Yin Fetuses lingered nearby, but seemed hesitant to approach the pair. While pulling the passive Fairy Fengya along, Ye Wenxin began to get bored. “Master, don’t you think this is a bit dull?”
“Indeed,” Fairy Fengya responded honestly, admitting that this secret realm posed no challenge for her.
Ye Wenxin always felt a bit irritated by Fairy Fengya’s confidence, but she understood the source of it. “Then why did you come here?”
“For you.”
Fairy Fengya answered without any hesitation, not concealing her reason for coming to the secret realm. It seemed that Ye Wenxin calling her ‘Master’ had put her in a good mood, making her more talkative.
“For me… If Senior Sister Qing’er knew, she’d probably want to kill me.” Ye Wenxin thought of Long Qing’er’s intense jealousy. And since Long Qing’er wasn’t the naive type, she would eventually notice the unusual relationship between Ye Wenxin and Fairy Fengya.
“What does that have to do with me?” said Fairy Fengya, but this time she slightly withdrew her hand. Ye Wenxin thought that Fairy Fengya might finally feel a bit guilty or angry, but when she looked again, she realized that Fairy Fengya had drawn her Cold Soul Sword.
Cold energy began to spread, making Ye Wenxin shiver. When she looked closely, she saw that the Cold Soul Sword had frozen the surrounding black fog, revealing countless outstretched arms around them.
At this moment, the corridor looked like an art exhibition, with those arms waving, yet unable to harm them in the slightest. Fairy Fengya had already sheathed her sword, and the cold energy receded. She extended her hand toward Ye Wenxin.
“What do you want?” Ye Wenxin asked. Fairy Fengya’s action seemed a bit inexplicable. Did she exhaust her qi with that move, and was now asking for some pills?
“You like holding hands,” Fairy Fengya explained, maintaining her posture.
Ye Wenxin was speechless. “You’re the one who likes holding hands, not me. I’m not a child.” Despite her words, Ye Wenxin still took her hand. Fairy Fengya’s hand felt a bit cold but was surprisingly comfortable.
“I do like it,” Fairy Fengya replied straightforwardly. This time, she was the one to lead Ye Wenxin forward. Ye Wenxin didn’t resist, but felt that Fairy Fengya seemed to have changed a bit.
