Chapter 330: Shameless
Seeing Ye Wenxin’s displeased expression, Jin Xiaoqin softly consoled her, “Being good at escaping is also a blessing. After all, on the long road of cultivation, you never know when you might meet your end.”
Ye Wenxin forced a smile. Despite knowing she meant well, being underestimated by her master still felt awkward.
“Master, I’m really, really amazing,” Ye Wenxin insisted.
“I know, you’re really good at that,” Jin Xiaoqin said, patting Ye Wenxin’s shoulder in a consoling manner, intending to brush it off. Ye Wenxin nodded at first, but then realized something was off with that remark.
Before she could dwell on it, Long Qing’er called out from a distance, “Wenxin, wave the flag!” Reluctantly, Ye Wenxin gave Jin Xiaoqin one last glance before waving the flag in her hand. Black fog pervaded the surroundings, shrouding them in its embrace.
The Yin Fetuses couldn’t see through the black fog, but those within it could clearly observe the scenes inside. With the situation now in their favor, Ye Wenxin took the opportunity to kill a few more Yin Fetuses while still protecting Jin Xiaoqin.
The cleanup was swift, and halfway through the night, the number of Yin Fetuses had significantly dwindled. Seeing corpses of various sizes on the ground, everyone remained vigilant, carefully inspecting the bodies to ensure they were completely dead, leaving no chance for a follow-up attack.
Ye Wenxin pulled Xuan Luofei and Xi Mengxuan along toward Jin Xiaoqin. She then checked on the others, ensuring there was no chance of Yin Fetuses possessing anyone and helping with bandaging wounds.
As Ye Wenxin’s actions became increasingly adept, she could frequently hear the sweet calls of ‘Senior Sister Ye’ from the other immortal sect disciples. If they knew Ye Wenxin was actually the most novice disciple, one could only wonder what they would think.
Among them were disciples with over a decade of cultivation experience, but this secret realm’s difficulty was exceptionally high. If they went inside the villa, only a few would likely survive.
The group began discussing whether to advance together or leave some behind to increase the chances of survival. Ye Wenxin, unable to contribute to the discussion, stood nearby, eating the food she had brought with her.
She noticed the male disciple was approaching Jin Xiaoqin again and, with some free time, decided to observe him for the first time.
The male disciple’s name was Hei Haowen, a lay disciple of Southern Dipper Temple. He was in third-stage Golden Core, appeared to be in his early twenties, and had a clean, pleasant appearance.
Hearing his mundane name, Ye Wenxin thought it unlikely that he possessed a male lead’s potential. However, to be sure of Hei Haowen’s position, she focused her mind and carefully examined him.
In that moment, she saw a green aura emanating from Hei Haowen. Unlike the green aura she had seen around the Sect Master of Azure Wings Sect, this green was a lighter shade. On top of Hei Haowen’s head, there was a small, fully formed blade of grass, a manifestation of his luck.
Ye Wenxin wasn’t sure if the green aura around Hei Haowen symbolized being cuckolded, or if he was simply a gentle, herbivorous type. Her gaze then shifted to Jin Xiaoqin, who originally had an ordinary white aura but now had a mixed flesh-colored aura. Above her head was the vague outline of a condor, seemingly in the process of forming.
Ye Wenxin, not knowing what this aura meant, felt somewhat anxious. Especially when Jin Xiaoqin looked at her, the aura seemed to emit a vibe that instinctively made Ye Wenxin feel in danger.
Now that she thought about it, condors were animals that craved meat. The flesh-colored aura led Ye Wenxin to naturally think of a carnivore, the opposite type to the herbivorous Hei Haowen.
This referred to those who were extremely fond of wrestling. Seeing an herbivorous Hei Haowen standing next to a carnivorous Jin Xiaoqin, and the latter’s flesh-colored condor several times larger than the former’s small blade of grass, almost made Ye Wenxin laugh.
Hei Haowen continued to exhibit herbivorous traits, speaking gently and attentively with Jin Xiaoqin. Jin Xiaoqin appeared increasingly awkward, especially since she had rarely interacted with men in the past 250 years.
Everyone knew that Jin Xiaoqin from the Azure Wings Sect’s Hall of Teaching disliked men, largely due to her environment, which led to her lack of experience dealing with them. Now, faced with Hei Haowen’s kindness, Jin Xiaoqin’s eyes swept around nervously, quickly meeting Ye Wenxin’s gaze.
Ye Wenxin immediately looked away, pretending not to notice Jin Xiaoqin’s discomfort, until she felt something hit her. Looking down, she saw that it was one of the pills she had previously given Jin Xiaoqin. Now, without hesitation, Jin Xiaoqin retrieved another pill from her bag of holding and threw it at Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin thought her master was truly one of a kind. When she looked back, she saw Jin Xiaoqin glaring at her. Ye Wenxin still ignored her, prompting Jin Xiaoqin to throw a bottle of pills at her.
This time, the pills were of a higher grade, with intricate patterns on the bottle—clearly not one of Ye Wenxin’s creations. Curious, Ye Wenxin opened it, and was greeted by the rich aroma of ninth-grade pills. The scent was strong and pleasant, and the pills emitted a faint glow, signifying their exceptional quality.
It was the first time Ye Wenxin had seen genuine ninth-grade pills. She thought for a moment before smoothly placing the pills into her bag of holding.
“Shameless!” Jin Xiaoqin muttered, even more displeased with Ye Wenxin’s behavior. However, she refrained from saying anything harsh in Hei Haowen’s presence.
Ye Wenxin, acting even more audaciously, moved a few steps to the side. Seeing this, Jin Xiaoqin smiled faintly at her, but now she was holding a greataxe instead of pills, clearly intending to summon Ye Wenxin more forcefully.
Feeling a chill run down her spine, Ye Wenxin quickly jogged over, wearing a fawning smile. “Master, what do you need?”
“Hand it over.” Jin Xiaoqin extended her hand with a raised brow, motioning for Ye Wenxin to return what she had thrown. The subtle shake of the axe made it clear what the consequences for not cooperating would be.
Ye Wenxin obediently handed over the two bottles of pills. Jin Xiaoqin took them back, and as she carefully examined the bottle of ninth-grade pills, her expression softened significantly.
“Master, since it’s so precious, you shouldn’t just throw it,” Ye Wenxin commented, noticing Jin Xiaoqin’s change in demeanor. She naturally sat down next to Jin Xiaoqin. Hei Haowen, nudged aside, maintained a poised posture, ready to act at Jin Xiaoqin’s command.
Jin Xiaoqin still seemed a bit uneasy, likely because of Hei Haowen’s presence. She put on an air of nonchalance and said, “I did it in the heat of the moment. Besides, what’s mine will always find its way back to me.” She wiped the bottle of ninth-grade pills, clearly valuing it greatly.
