Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 397

Chapter 397: Big ** Scene (3rd Update)

Long Qingyue’s demeanor remained as natural as ever. Clearly, Ghost Mother’s appearance didn’t surprise her, and she was even watching with a certain interest, as if observing an intriguing film.

Ghost Mother, who had always been fearful of Long Qingyue, felt increasingly uncomfortable seeing her reaction. She wished to retreat to the umbrella sword to escape this discomfort, but Ye Wenxin tightened her embrace, preventing Ghost Mother from struggling.

The peach blossom chains appeared, entangling Ghost Mother even more. Ye Wenxin, focused on the kiss, hoped Ghost Mother would quickly finish feeding so she could sleep peacefully. She slightly urged Ghost Mother to feed as quickly as possible.

“Finish your meal quickly, then sleep.”

“Master, behind you…”

“Don’t worry, Yue’er can’t see you…” Ye Wenxin tried to reassure. Even though she was working hard to help Ghost Mother feed, she couldn’t understand why Ghost Mother suddenly seemed so frightened.

She was, of course, paying attention to Long Qingyue’s movements, but none of her skills seemed to have any effect on Long Qingyue, leaving her unsure of her current state. Realizing this made Ye Wenxin feel a bit anxious, and she loosened her grip on Ghost Mother, who immediately fled, leaving Ye Wenxin alone to face the coldness behind her.

Knowing that explaining her situation with the Yin-Yang ghosts would be difficult, Ye Wenxin continued to feign sleep to avoid further complications, but Long Qingyue’s voice sounded behind her: “I thought you were hiding something, but if it’s this kind of thing, I wouldn’t even bother knowing.”

Long Qingyue’s tone carried a hint of indifference, unable to understand why Ye Wenxin would be so enraptured by a ghost. Even if the ghost was extraordinarily beautiful, Ye Wenxin shouldn’t have behaved in such a manner.

Ye Wenxin felt embarrassed; she was aware of Long Qingyue’s disapproval but hadn’t expected it to be so intense. Nevertheless, she continued to feign sleep, hoping to avoid further discussion on the topic.

Seeing Ye Wenxin’s attitude, Long Qingyue decided not to press the matter further. However, Ghost Mother’s provocation had stirred some anger within her.

Outside, the sudden sound of birds and beasts crying out startled the people nearby, causing them to go on high alert, thinking the Jiangshi King had come.

“What’s going on!?”

“Is the Jiangshi King coming? Alert everyone, quickly! Prepare for battle!”

The voices outside were filled with fear, but Ye Wenxin continued to pretend to be asleep. If she guessed correctly, the commotion was likely a side effect of Long Qingyue’s anger.

Just as Ye Wenxin’s unmatched power came with the risk of Qi Deviation, and Fairy Fengya’s strength required emotional restraint, if Long Qingyue couldn’t control herself, her power would backlash.

With great power came constant danger. The controlled animals would attack Long Qingyue until either her emotions were stabilized, or she succumbed to death, after which things would return to normal.

“Yue’er, wake up!” Ye Wenxin gently touched Long Qingyue, trying to pull her out of the backlash state. But the moment she touched her, she felt an intense coldness, accompanied by a chilling aura.

Ye Wenxin was no stranger to this kind of sensation from spending all day with the Yin-Yang ghosts. However, it had been a while since Ghost Mother tried to possess her, so she didn’t understand why Long Qingyue’s body was still so cold.

Sensing the disturbance nearby, Long Qingyue came to her senses and saw Ye Wenxin very close to her, appearing about to reach out her hand to make some inappropriate move.

“Qingcheng, what are you doing?” Long Qingyue looked at Ye Wenxin’s hand in a strange position, suspecting that if she hadn’t reacted quickly, that indiscreet hand might have touched something it shouldn’t have.

Ye Wenxin awkwardly withdrew her hand and explained, “Oh, I saw you losing control and thought I’d help.” She waved her innocent hand and, despite its odd position, she had no ulterior motives towards Long Qingyue.

Long Qingyue, clearly not believing her, continued, “Help me up.”

Ye Wenxin complied and used a normal amount of strength, but it felt ten times stronger to Long Qingyue. She frowned slightly and added, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself.”

As she spoke, Long Qingyue activated her true qi to lift herself back into the wheelchair and went outside to explain the reason for the animal disturbance. Ye Wenxin also realized that things couldn’t proceed happily with Long Qingyue. She put on her outer robe and headed out, just in time to hear Long Qingyue seriously speaking nonsense.

She conveniently blamed the commotion on the Jiangshi King, covering up the fact that the disturbance was merely a result of Long Qingyue losing control of her emotions.

“Oh my goodness, you actually dared to sleep with Her Highness!” Priest Wang exclaimed in shock upon seeing Ye Wenxin coming out.

Recalling what had just happened, Ye Wenxin was still a bit shaken. “I really didn’t dare to. Priest Wang, how about you help me tell Her Highness that I truly can’t risk disturbing her sleep?”

Priest Wang had only been commiserating with Ye Wenxin, but he nearly burst into tears at the task being foisted onto him. He wanted to tell her he lacked the courage to do so, yet once he turned around, she was gone.

Priest Wang noticed Long Qingyue approaching, and had no choice but to toughen his heart and kneel on the ground, telling her of this matter. Unlike Ye Wenxin’s directness, Priest Wang conveyed her refusal with careful tact.

Long Qingyue maintained her elegant smile, seemingly unconcerned with Ye Wenxin’s actions. She addressed Priest Wang, saying, “It’s fine; I’m used to being alone.”

With that, she wheeled herself back into the tent. As she looked at the spot where Ye Wenxin had lain with the ghost, a trace of disgust flickered in her eyes. She raised her voice slightly.

“Secret Guard, are you there?”

At her command, a hidden Secret Guard immediately appeared and kneeled dutifully by her side. Long Qingyue glanced at her coolly and then ordered, “Burn the quilt and bedding.”

The Secret Guard didn’t question the order and promptly began to carry it out. As Long Qingyue watched, she still felt it wasn’t enough. After a moment’s thought, she added, “On second thought, don’t discard it. Send this quilt… no, the whole bed, to Ye Wenxin.”

The Secret Guard hesitated briefly, finding the order rather unusual. However, Long Qingyue was well-known for her extreme cleanliness. The Secret Guard assumed she simply didn’t want to use something others had touched, so with a nod, she called for a few more Secret Guards to carry the bed away.

The tent seemed empty without the bed. Long Qingyue expected to feel relieved now that the offending items were gone but instead, she found herself still sensing the ghost’s stench in the air. Her discomfort only deepened. She issued another command: “Burn this tent as well to disinfect the area, and set up a new one.”

The remaining Secret Guards sprang into action. They quickly began dismantling the tent, all the while growing increasingly curious about this mysterious Ye Wenxin. They had served Long Qingyue for years and were accustomed to her unflappability, but everyone present could sense that she was genuinely upset. It was clear to them that the source of her anger was none other than the female cultivator called Ye Wenxin.

OMG! Just because you think Qingyue can’t see you, doesn’t mean you should engage in those activities right next to her Wenxin!! Sigh. So Jianshi King is another result that Wenxin forgot while in Qi deviation–why am I not surprised? Thanks for translating!!
