Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 398

Chapter 398: Blame It On the Buns 1 (1st Update)

Ye Wenxin was still completely unaware of all this. She sat in her chair, yawning, while Gu Xiangsi kept chatting with her about trivial matters. However, Gu Xiangsi seemed to be subtly probing into the connection between Ye Wenxin and Long Qingyue.

“Why are you suddenly interested in the Eldest Princess, Xiangsi?” Ye Wenxin let out another big yawn, thinking she was being clear enough, but Gu Xiangsi seemed excessively concerned about Long Qingyue today.

“Just asking out of curiosity.” A glint flashed in Gu Xiangsi’s eyes. Actually, Ye Wenxin had long suspected that both Gu Aotian and Gu Xiangsi might have the surname Long, and she could also guess the outline of their melodramatic story.

Long Qingyue had helped her younger brother ascend to the throne. To consolidate the Golden Age Dynasty’s rule, she used ruthless means and exterminated all remnants of the previous dynasty. Gu Xiangsi, being a legitimate female lead, naturally wasn’t completely dead, and ended up wandering around with Gu Aotian, still harboring thoughts of restoring their former glory.

Even though Ye Wenxin could piece together this rough outline, she knew Gu Xiangsi was just like her, and wouldn’t reveal this secret. Even if she did, Ye Wenxin would never oppose Long Qingyue. With that in mind, Ye Wenxin was even more willing to feign ignorance to gloss over the issue.

“We just met briefly at the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament. She noticed that my skills were decent, so we talked a bit more, but nothing beyond that,” Ye Wenxin explained, and then she saw Gu Xiangsi visibly relax.

Gu Xiangsi was still young and naive. If it weren’t for Long Qingyue’s peculiar habit of nurturing her enemies for amusement, Gu Xiangsi likely couldn’t have lived so carefreely. However, because of this habit, Gu Xiangsi was steadily growing stronger. Eventually, when her true destiny fully manifested, it would lead to a confrontation between her and Long Qingyue, pitting the righteous against the evil.

This was fate, and it was also a villain’s mission. Despite knowing this, Long Qingyue seemed to enjoy the game immensely. Overall, Long Qingyue was a strange person—desiring death, yet unwilling to meet it too easily.

Ye Wenxin, on the other hand, feared death, so she was careful to avoid stepping too close to that line.

“So sleepy… Any more questions? If not, I’m going to sleep,” Ye Wenxin yawned again, although she wasn’t actually tired. She just knew that if Gu Xiangsi kept her tied up, she wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep.

Gu Xiangsi nodded and started taking off her outer garment, getting ready for bed, when they heard some commotion outside.

She paused her actions and called out, “Come in.” Immediately, one of the Golden Age Dynasty’s Secret Guards entered the room. Gu Xiangsi immediately tensed up, ready to grab Ye Wenxin and use her golden axe to carve a bloody path out. Ye Wenxin quickly stopped her and, smiling, asked, “Big sister, what brings you here so late at night?”

The Secret Guard glanced at Ye Wenxin and then explained, “Her Highness has ordered me to bring a bed for Miss Ye.”

The voice was distinctly male, and Ye Wenxin felt a moment of awkwardness. She didn’t think she would mistake someone else’s gender. However, seeing that the Secret Guard didn’t seem to mind this small matter, she stepped outside to take a look.

What she saw was the bed she had been lying on earlier, now being delivered along with its bedding, as if to silently convey Long Qingyue’s disdain towards her.

“Well, go ahead and bring it in.” The bed in Gu Xiangsi’s tent wasn’t very comfortable, so she didn’t mind that Long Qingyue’s cleanliness obsession had kicked in. She cheerfully invited the Secret Guards to bring the bed inside.

The Secret Guards were completely baffled, as they had no idea about the tension between Long Qingyue and Ye Wenxin. They didn’t dare to ask either, fearing Long Qingyue’s wrath. They quickly carried the bed in and left just as fast.

Gu Xiangsi was even more curious, and suspected that there might be some kind of trap or mechanism in the bed. She began to carefully inspect it, but after a thorough check, she found nothing out of the ordinary.

“Stop looking. Her Highness has a cleanliness obsession. She probably sent the bed over in disgust after I slept on it.” Ye Wenxin was already climbing back onto the bed and taking up a spot in the corner, wary that Gu Xiangsi might suddenly decide to cuddle with her again.

“Is that so?” Gu Xiangsi was still puzzled, but she didn’t think too much about it. She resumed taking off her outer garment and then cautiously lay down beside Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin pretended not to notice, habitually turning her back to Gu Xiangsi to avoid a repeat of the previous nightmares. However, she underestimated Gu Xiangsi’s attachment. Seeing Ye Wenxin sleeping so close to the edge of the bed, Gu Xiangsi naturally moved closer, pressing tightly against her.

Ye Wenxin didn’t resist, but she could clearly feel the pressure of two soft buns against her back. Gu Xiangsi, seemingly nostalgic, murmured, “Sis, it feels like it’s been so long since we slept together.”

Ye Wenxin didn’t respond, feigning sleep. Gu Xiangsi didn’t press further; she simply took a few greedy breaths of Ye Wenxin’s scent and then, still clinging to her, closed her eyes.

Despite the bed being so large, the two of them occupied less than half of it, huddled together in one corner…

As the night deepened, Ye Wenxin, lost in sleep, began to feel suffocated. When she opened her eyes, she found herself once again pressed against Gu Xiangsi’s buns. Gu Xiangsi seemed to be having a nightmare, her brow furrowed, as if she were desperately seeking safety from Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin’s heart softened, but the buns pressed tighter, as if enveloping her completely. Although she felt uncomfortable, Ye Wenxin knew that no matter how strong Gu Xiangsi was, she couldn’t actually kill her. So, she tried to lull herself back to sleep, ignoring Gu Xiangsi’s struggles.

“Don’t, Sis…” Gu Xiangsi mumbled in her sleep, as if dreaming about something involving Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin felt a chill down her spine, sensing that something was off with Gu Xiangsi. Instinctively, she tried to pull away, but Gu Xiangsi’s grip only tightened.

In the midst of their struggle, Gu Xiangsi’s thin inner clothes became disheveled, and her dudou no longer served its purpose. Gu Xiangsi seemed to have found some form of release, and she pressed Ye Wenxin’s head closer to her buns.

Ye Wenxin’s eyes landed on the close-up view of the tips on those buns. Gu Xiangsi was stroking as if venting, and Ye Wenxin realized she was dreaming something she would never dare do with her. Ye Wenxin’s thoughts briefly flashed to the three branching paths hinted at by the peach blossoms on her back. After a moment’s hesitation, she gently opened her mouth and tasted one of the tips.

Such a delicacy, so captivating and wondrous, combined with the subtle sweetness of the buns, created an almost irresistible illusion. Gu Xiangsi seemed to find satisfaction in this; her brows relaxed, and a faint smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

Ye Wenxin didn’t let the opportunity pass; she continued to savor the experience, skillfully kneading the buns, and teasing the small tips. Once deeply asleep, Gu Xiangsi was difficult to wake. She only let out soft moans, completely unaware that what she believed to be a dream was actually unfolding in reality.
