Release the Female Lead Ch. 433

Chapter 433: I’m Tired

“One thousand.”

“No, at least two thousand.”

The two began to speak in riddles right in front of Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin was completely baffled as she watched them go from one thousand to eight thousand, and finally compromise on four thousand. Only then did Long Qingyue point in a direction in the sky and say, “The last place she appeared was at the Southern Dipper Temple.”

Ye Wenxin felt a jolt of fear again, but then she thought about her own tendency for Qi Deviation. Since the Southern Dipper Temple was indeed a great place for recovery, she concluded that it would certainly be an acceptable location for Liu Churan.

As expected, Liu Churan didn’t doubt it at all, but she also didn’t leave. She glanced at Long Qingyue and Ye Wenxin, looking like she had more to say but was holding back.

“Aren’t you going to chase after your mother, kid?” Long Qingyue deliberately emphasized the term, trying to make Liu Churan see reality and stop dreaming.

Liu Churan’s dissatisfaction grew even stronger. She pursed her lips, her allure becoming more pronounced. She extended her delicate hand and pointed at the two of them, saying, “Long Qingyue, have you ever had a child?”

The question came out of nowhere. Long Qingyue was momentarily taken aback, and couldn’t help but laugh brightly. Then she said, “From where did you hear this storyteller rumor?”

Long Qingyue thought all of this was nonsense. Liu Churan, feeling a bit embarrassed herself, still pressed, “I’m just trying to confirm something. My Qingcheng had a child with someone else, so I’m wondering who that other person might be.”

Long Qingyue’s expression showed obvious indifference and even a bit of repulsion. “Whoever that person might be, it is definitely not me.” As she spoke, Long Qingyue’s gaze almost turned to Ye Wenxin, as if she wanted to question her about what kind of ridiculous gossip this was.

“Oh, if you have some free time, help me investigate. I want to find out which sneaky cat stole away my Qingcheng… and is still keeping her hidden.” Liu Churan expressed her resentment and anger.

Long Qingyue’s expression had already returned to normal, and she replied calmly, “Maybe she prefers nuns, like Abbess Jiunan, who kept her hair despite having taken her vows.”

Hearing this, Liu Churan became even more agitated and swiftly flew off on her sword.

She came in a rush, and left just as quickly. In some ways, she was as impatient as Long Qingyue. Ye Wenxin watched Liu Churan leave, and finally let out a sigh of relief. She was just about to crack a dirty joke to change the subject when Long Qingyue’s expression suddenly darkened. She pointed to the ground beside her and said, “Kneel.”

Ye Wenxin felt awkward. She had just managed to bluff her way past Long Qingyue, and now Long Qingyue was ready to punish her again. Feeling miserable, Ye Wenxin could only try to negotiate with Long Qingyue. “Yue’er, is this necessary? I’m not even your subordinate.”

Long Qingyue said sternly, “But I am considered your master, so isn’t it only right for a disciple to kneel before their master?”

Ye Wenxin couldn’t argue this and kneeled obediently. She looked around uneasily, afraid that Liu Churan might come back again, or that people might show up to watch.

Fortunately, none of that happened, as there were only her kneeling, and Long Qingyue sitting in her wheelchair.

The atmosphere grew even more subtle. Long Qingyue seemed like she wanted to say something, but then she just sighed and said, “Forget it; I won’t ask anymore.”

Ye Wenxin, driven by a strong desire to save herself, tried hard to struggle, but in truth, she had no idea what had happened during that period when she wasn’t fully herself. Ye Wenxin always tried to present her best self in front of Long Qingyue, and upon seeing the disappointed look on her face, she hurriedly explained, “Honestly, all of it is fake.”

“There’s no point in distinguishing between real and fake at this stage.”

Once again, Long Qingyue was starting to speak in a way that left Ye Wenxin completely perplexed. She could only look up at Long Qingyue with confusion, and noticed the unmistakable helplessness in her eyes. “Wenxin, I’m tired of this.”

This made Ye Wenxin’s eyes light up. “Then let’s roam the Martial World in alternate identities together!”

She assumed that when Long Qingyue said she was tired, she meant she no longer wanted to continue being Long Qingyue, and instead wanted to become Cuihua, the carefree persona who had once roamed the Martial World alongside Ye Wenxin. However, the helplessness in Long Qingyue’s eyes only grew more conspicuous. “Not like that… I’m tired of our relationship…”

This was completely beyond Ye Wenxin’s comprehension. She stood up and said anxiously, “What are you saying? Are you really planning to cut ties with me!?”

Ye Wenxin’s face turned red up to her ears from anxiety. All her life, she had taken things slowly, always content with her circumstances. She once had the best, most powerful friend in the world, and a most obedient, well-behaved adopted daughter to see her through to the end.

It might have been inevitable for Liu Churan to become a deviant, but why would Long Qingyue say something like this? Ye Wenxin was utterly distressed, desperate for an answer to calm her unsettled heart.

Yet, facing her aggressive questioning, Long Qingyue only sighed and said, “Being tired is just being tired. I’m still trying to find a new way to define our relationship.”

Long Qingyue tried to push her wheelchair away, but she felt Ye Wenxin holding her back. In her line of sight, Ye Wenxin looked like a wild beast driven mad. “Make yourself clear, Long Qingyue! What do you mean ‘tired’!? I’ve tried so hard to match your status, that I even became this so-called trashy Demon Lord. I did my best to understand your worldview, so I went and explored those Martial World delights, and aligned with your interests in boys’ love. I’ve done everything to stay by your side and not be left behind by you…”

Long Qingyue listened a bit dazedly, then suddenly couldn’t help but laugh softly. In a quiet voice, she murmured, “So, we’re the same after all.”

“Don’t try to brush this off, Long Qingyue! I absolutely refuse to cut ties with you! I’m going to cling to you for the rest of my life…” Ye Wenxin grew even more agitated. She hated that her special ability could create lovers but not friends. She was anxious to hold onto this relationship. If Long Qingyue’s relationship with her changed, Ye Wenxin would truly feel a lack of security.

She wasn’t someone who easily cared about others, but once she did, Ye Wenxin would protect them for a lifetime.

“Alright… calm down…” Long Qingyue’s eyes flashed red again, and Ye Wenxin felt her anger dissipate. She quickly sat down to meditate. If it weren’t for Long Qingyue’s reminder, her mounting anxiety might have triggered a Qi Deviation, the ever present threat. However, Ye Wenxin still felt restless, and she watched as Long Qingyue gave a slight beckoning gesture.

“I’ve figured out our new dynamic.”

Ye Wenxin stepped closer, and Long Qingyue, as if afraid someone else might overhear, gestured for her to come even nearer. Ye Wenxin did so unsuspectingly, only to feel a tug on her collar, and something warm pressing against her lips.

It was Long Qingyue’s lips. There was a scent of books unique to her, and she had that playful glint in her eyes. After the kiss, Ye Wenxin’s face instantly turned bright red, while Long Qingyue seemed lost in thought and murmured, “So this is what a kiss tastes like.”
