Chapter 44: Quickly Come into My Arms
This sinful thought lasted only a second, as Ye Wenxin continued, “But let’s forget it, so the Grand Elder won’t be misunderstood.”
She was still smiling, but the Grand Elder’s heart shattered.
With that said, Ye Wenxin walked towards where Long Qing’er was. Watching from afar, Ling Jue’s eyes went cold, feeling unusually uncomfortable.
Long Qing’er was also quite surprised. She lowered her jade flute and said, “Miss, I’m sorry, my jade flute is already full.”
Behind Long Qing’er stood several young men and women, all seeming to have close ties with the imperial family.
“No, isn’t there still room in your arms?” Ye Wenxin blinked innocently.
How could she not see through what these group of old geezers were up to? But if someone hugged her, then she would not have to worry about being exposed for poor acting skills. Moreover, seeing Long Qing’er’s indifferent attitude towards her because of Gu Aotian and Gu Xiangsi, Ye Wenxin deliberately wanted to strike back.
But as soon as those words left her mouth, the atmosphere in the entire place froze.
Everyone knew that Princess Long Qing’er of the Golden Age Dynasty was spoiled and capricious, lawless even, with a track record of misdeeds that could fill an autobiography. But now, someone actually dared to sit in her lap. Were they deliberately seeking trouble?
The crowd stirred, even the elders were quite concerned.
“Miss, why don’t you come sit on my la-, ah, no, sit on my flying sword.” The Grand Elder was almost led astray, blurting out his inner thoughts.
The crowd listened, pointing fingers and gossiping, feeling that this Grand Elder was not behaving properly.
The Hall of Discipline’s Grand Elder felt particularly wronged. Long Qing’er turned to the man behind her. “You, get down,” she pointed to him and ordered him in a commanding tone, driving him away.
“Your Highness, I am the Prime Minister’s…”
“Hmm?” Long Qing’er’s eyes narrowed slightly, exuding the majestic aura of a ruthless queen.
People could feel the murderous aura emanating from Long Qing’er. She was arrogant, but she had the capital to be so.
Seeing the man retreat after Long Qing’er’s attitude, she then turned to Ye Wenxin.
“You, come up, but I won’t hold you.” At this point, Long Qing’er’s voice unexpectedly softened quite a bit, leaving people even more surprised. What means had Ye Wenxin used to make this darling daughter of heaven treat her in such a manner?
“Thank you, Senior Sister.” Ye Wenxin clumsily climbed up and hid behind Long Qing’er.
“I guess she’s planning revenge later.”
“Yeah, after all, it’s that Royal Highness, ruthless and unreasonable.”
People whispered quietly, but Ye Wenxin could hear every word clearly. Yet, naturally, she had to pretend not to hear…
“Alright, let’s head to the backwoods now.” Someone announced as the flying swords began to take off. Everyone took their positions, enjoying their first, and possibly last, journey on a flying sword.
“Aaahhh!”
Before the words even fell, someone had already fallen from the flying sword. Because it was a short distance, even that senior brother did not seem to have any intention of catching them.
“Alright, number 254 is eliminated.”
With these words spoken, everyone realized that the exam had already begun and scrambled to find any way to hold on to the flying sword.
Long Qing’er’s speed was extremely fast. After only about half a quarter of an hour, everyone on the jade flute, except for Ye Wenxin, had fallen off.
Looking at Ling Jue’s flying treasure, only Gu Xiangsi remained on top, trembling as if still unable to understand the situation.
The two flying magic item seemed to be competing with each other, flying desperately for this half-quarter of an hour.
Ye Wenxin felt quite sympathetic to these children sacrificing themselves for beauty. As she looked down, she saw several people controlling flying swords catching those who fell.
“I really thought someone would die.” Ye Wenxin sighed as she looked down, feeling no pressure at all on the flying magic item. Probably because Long Qing’er was worried about her safety, she had reactivated the safety array.
“Wenxin, come over here.” Ling Jue did not know when she had flown side by side with Long Qing’er, smiling and waving to Ye Wenxin who was sitting on Long Qing’er’s flying magic item.
“Young Master Ling, I didn’t expect you to be so compassionate and sparing. You actually let one person off.” Naturally, Long Qing’er could not agree. Ye Wenxin had chosen her once, but now Ling Jue was here to cause trouble.
“This Young Master is merciful. Since the others don’t have the qualifications, it’s natural to eliminate them.” Ling Jue did not mind at all. He continued with the topic set by Long Qing’er, still wearing that charming smile that sent shivers down Ye Wenxin’s spine.
It felt like if she did not comply, Ling Jue might treat her as a guinea pig and feed her some poisonous pills or something.
Or perhaps, she might punish her by not allowing her to rest and making her refine pills every day until she coughed up blood.
Thinking of those terrifying days, Ye Wenxin moved to act, but was held back by Long Qing’er.
“Don’t be afraid of her. Even if it means the Golden Age Dynasty tear Medicine King Valley’s face, let’s see how she dares to contend with me!”
“But even if you win, you won’t win Wenxin’s heart. Besides, how can you be sure that it won’t be my Medicine King Valley that would destroy your Golden Age Dynasty?” Ling Jue remained calm and composed, leaving Long Qing’er speechless with her sharp retort.
Ye Wenxin was even more speechless. Back then, she had to come up with excuses to destroy a sect. But now, these sects were something else. They did not even bother with excuses, simply declaring the other’s life and death just like that.
And the trigger? Just some trivial matters.
“My dear Big Brother Ling, Senior Sister Qing’er.” Ye Wenxin elongated her tone, catching the attention of both of them.
“How about this, I’ll ride Senior Sister Qing’er’s flying magic item for the first half, and Big Brother Ling’s for the second half.” After some thought, she decided to directly appease this conflict.
“Lucky you.”
“I should say the same to you, Lady Qing’er.”
Despite Ye Wenxin’s sacrifice, the conflict between the two continued.
With one being cold and the other hot, like water and fire, they were fundamentally incompatible.
Fortunately, Gu Xiangsi had been frightened by the flight and had not paid much attention to the conversation. Coupled with Ye Wenxin’s coaxing, she casually accepted the relationship between them.
Gu Xiangsi was naive and did not think too much about it, so she believed Ye Wenxin’s words.
After more than half an hour passed, they reached the backwoods. However, the number of people had rapidly decreased from over six hundred to just over three hundred. Even among the remaining group, everyone’s expression was grim.
Everyone noticed Ye Wenxin had moved from Long Qing’er’s flying magic item to Ling Jue’s, but no one dared to say anything.
“You’re making me look like a backdoor entrant!” Ye Wenxin saw the strange looks from everyone and, realizing her own actions, lowered her voice to express her dissatisfaction to the others.
“But if you don’t take the backdoor, can you make it?”
“Exactly, I was worried, so I came specially.”
But whether it was Ling Jue or Long Qing’er, they both felt Ye Wenxin’s chances were slim. Worried sick, they could not sleep or eat properly, and they even forced the elders to bring them along.
The two of them were like Ye Wenxin’s sisters, taking care of her in every possible way.
However, despite being grateful, Ye Wenxin was also very troubled.
Apart from Fairy Fengya, no one outside the Azure Wings Sect was a match for her to kill. With her power, she could command demon cultivators, and as leader of the demon sects, she was naturally not one to mince her words.
“Never mind, thank you both.” Ye Wenxin felt annoyed, so annoyed she was close to falling into Qi Deviation. She had to take a deep breath, suppress the anger in her heart, and put on a bright, sunny smile.
“From now on, it’s up to you. If you can’t handle it, just take the easy way out.”
“Yes, I believe the Sect Master and the others would love for you to join right away.”
The two continued to advise, making Ye Wenxin feel both empowered and concerned about how much they worried about her.
“Got it, I’ll go find a team first.” With others already starting to form teams, Ye Wenxin bid farewell to the two and began searching for Gu Xiangsi and the others.
Before she could find them, however, it was Gu Xiangsi who spotted her first and hugged her from behind.
“Big Sis.”
She seemed to like this way of hugging, but in the midst of this turbulence, Ye Wenxin felt quite uncomfortable.
“Yeah, have you found the right people?” Ye Wenxin naturally understood that it was not suitable to act alone, so she had Gu Aotian and the others find a few people who seemed easy to get along with.
According to the cliché plot, the group of people that Gu Aotian found might become his lifelong brothers.
Gu Xiangsi nodded, “Yes, we found them, but we’re the only girls.”
“That won’t do, it’s too dangerous with just the two of us.”
Gu Xiangsi was puzzled, but Ye Wenxin coughed and continued, “Let’s discuss it after we get there.”
Still puzzled, Gu Xiangsi nodded and quickly found Gu Aotian and the others with Ye Wenxin.
Not only was Gu Aotian there, but there were also three young men.
“This team looks good, right?” Fatty boasted proudly about the people he found, and Ye Wenxin nodded slightly.
One was tall and sturdy, one was small and slender like a mouse, and the other looked scholarly. Together, they formed a well-organized exploration team.
Even if Ye Wenxin was not present, they could easily resist the attacks of those small-scale demonic beasts.
Of course, provided that Gu Aotian did not act recklessly.
But if Gu Aotian was truly the male protagonist, he would definitely seek opportunities even if it meant risking his life.
Regardless, Ye Wenxin planned to take advantage of any opportunities that came her way. She chuckled inwardly, thoroughly satisfied with the people and situations she encountered after running away.
“Don’t worry, we will protect you.”
Seeing both Gu Xiangsi and Ye Wenxin, the three men felt a strong attraction, especially towards Gu Xiangsi, those curves stimulated one’s demand for parenthood. Unfortunately, apart from hiding behind Ye Wenxin, Gu Xiangsi did not say a word to them.
As everyone began introducing themselves, they were all ordinary civilians, except for Fatty’s slightly privileged status, as he happened to be a landlord’s son.
This composition indicated that they were taking the civilian route, without any use of drugs or powerful individuals. In the forest, they could only resort to guerrilla tactics.
However, for Ye Wenxin, as long as the male protagonist was present, any seemingly peaceful trial would inevitably turn chaotic.
And what Ye Wenxin looked forward to was precisely the chaos that would ensue.
