Chapter 455: Abbess Jiunan’s Nurture Diary
“Benefactor Wenxin, could you spare me a moment?” In the dead of night, Abbess Jiunan suddenly asked this while setting down her teacup. Ye Wenxin was filled with confusion but nodded nonetheless.
“Of course. I’m not on patrol tonight, so I can stay a bit longer.” Thanks to the immortal sects’ recent efforts, the jiangshi situation had been fully stabilized. Before long, the people who had fled from Yangzhou City would be able to return to their normal lives.
The members of the immortal sects would soon return to their respective sects, and resume their usual routines. As an outsider to all of this, Ye Wenxin had found herself unusually free these days, allowing her the time to have long conversations with the Southern Dipper Temple’s abbess.
“Would you mind coming over here, Benefactor?” Abbess Jiunan’s face showed a hint of joy. Ye Wenxin hesitated for a moment when she saw the bed in front of her, but after thinking about it, she nodded, her heart filled with both nervousness and anticipation.
If Abbess Jiunan were to make any special requests, should she go along with it to provide the nourishment needed for the peach blossom chains upgrade? As Ye Wenxin pondered this, she stepped forward, only to see Abbess Jiunan slowly undo her robe, revealing her beautiful back.
Ye Wenxin instinctively looked away, but then reminded herself that both she and the abbess were women. If Abbess Jiunan had already disrobed, it must have something to do with her. With this thought, Ye Wenxin faced Abbess Jiunan’s back directly, only to find even more whip marks than before.
The marks spread across her back, as though while Ye Wenxin was unaware, someone had injured the abbess again. The domineering qi was evident in the way the whip marks embedded themselves deep into her bones. Ye Wenxin felt pain just looking at them.
“Benefactor Wenxin, could I trouble you to mix the medicine for me again? No matter how much I try, I can’t seem to match the amount you applied last time,” Abbess Jiunan asked sincerely. Yet the more Ye Wenxin thought about it, the guiltier she felt.
The reason Abbess Jiunan couldn’t get the mixture right wasn’t due to poor technique. Last time, Ye Wenxin had deliberately added too much mint grass, hoping to enjoy the abbess’s masochistic responses. To her surprise, however, that little bit of pain didn’t seem to bother Abbess Jiunan at all, so afterward, Ye Wenxin just gave her the prescription for a normal dosage.
Ye Wenxin suddenly felt upon hearing Abbess Jiunan’s current request, that last time’s stimulation might not have been intense enough. She moved closer to Abbess Jiunan, and used her fingertips to gently trace the wounds, assessing their severity.
These wounds, originating from deep within, followed a completely different pattern from the previous whip marks. It was as if Abbess Jiunan had used some special method to inflict these injuries on herself, perhaps to fulfill some inner need.
Ye Wenxin shuddered at this realization.
She had already witnessed Liu Churan’s yandere tendencies, Fairy Fengya’s frigidity, and Jin Xiaoqin’s insatiability. Now, Abbess Jiunan’s reaction made Ye Wenxin feel that if she were to make a move, the abbess would also be an incredibly troublesome person to deal with.
“Let me give it a try.” But as the words reached her mouth, she didn’t dare to reveal the truth. Her hands trembled slightly as she picked three stalks of mint grass. She mixed them with other common medicinal herbs, then slowly began to crush them together.
Abbess Jiunan maintained that posture as she waited, as if she wouldn’t feel any embarrassment in front of Ye Wenxin. The ten years they had spent together in the Bright Mirror Formation made them deeply familiar with each other. Their recent discussions of Buddhist teachings had also fostered a kind of spiritual connection between them.
“Speaking of which, how are things going between you and my big brother, Sister?” Ye Wenxin asked. She asked Abbess Jiunan this question every day, but this time there was a sense of urgency in her tone.
The peach blossom chains had given her orders, and after determining that Abbess Jiunan would be the easiest of the three to handle, Ye Wenxin decided to tentatively reach out with her sinful little hand to test things out.
Abbess Jiunan gave a bitter smile. “I’ve told you, there’s nothing going on between us yet, and please stop using that misleading address. Besides…”
Hearing this “besides”, Ye Wenxin thought the abbess was about to recount some dramatic tale, but instead, she heard Abbess Jiunan say, “He’s too much like a child, always fantasizing and trying to get this nun to renounce my vows. But since this nun has already chosen the monastic life, how could I betray the Buddha’s teachings? How could this nun dishonor the teachings of my late master, and forget everything to stay by his side?”
Abbess Jiunan’s rare complaint hinted at lingering feelings for Ye Tian, though they were no longer as intense as they had been decades ago. This was absolutely good news for Ye Wenxin, but she didn’t show any satisfaction. Instead, she looked at Abbess Jiunan with feigned unease.
Abbess Jiunan smiled. “He and this nun are truly destined only to meet, not to be together.” She then played with her long hair, muttering to herself, “Perhaps I shouldn’t have kept my hair long, clinging to that faint possibility.”
Ye Wenxin quietly continued to prepare the medicine. Once finished, she moved closer to Abbess Jiunan and responded, “It would be such a shame to shave off such beautiful long hair.” She gently lifted Abbess Jiunan’s hair away from her back, so it wouldn’t obstruct the medicine application.
Abbess Jiunan shifted into a more comfortable position. She had an excellent figure, but it was more reserved compared to Jin Xiaoqin’s. Ye Wenxin, having been quite content in recent days, had no other thoughts or desires, so she simply reminded, “Alright, Sister, I’m starting now.”
Abbess Jiunan became more displeased, protesting, “This nun has told you to cease with that address. If someone misunderstands, how could this nun save face?”
Just as the abbess finished speaking, Ye Wenxin applied the medicine. Abbess Jiunan shuddered, feeling the familiar icy, refreshing, and stimulating sensation.
The medicine slowly seeped into the wounds on her skin, causing an indescribable pain. But for someone who enjoyed pain, it was an undoubtedly satisfying sensation. Ye Wenxin could see the pleasure on Abbess Jiunan’s face and remarked, “I added a bit more mint grass this time. I wonder if you like it, Abbess.”
Abbess Jiunan was in too much pain to respond, but she also couldn’t suppress the expression on her face. Her body trembled even more, and it was hard to tell what specific emotion she was feeling.
In the end, her face showed signs of enjoyment, and she was covered in sweat, as if she just fought an intense battle.
She collapsed onto the bed, only then seeming to remember that Ye Wenxin was still beside her. Looking a bit embarrassed, she said, “This medicine is so overpowering. It feels almost unbearable.”
“Yes, that’s because mint grass is the most potent of all the cooling herbs. I only dared to add three stalks,” Ye Wenxin explained. In reality, three stalks were already too much, but after seeing Abbess Jiunan’s reaction, Ye Wenxin had a feeling that once she left, the abbess would likely add even more on her own.
