Chapter 457: Trophy
Fairy Fengya continued to struggle, and the Colored Flags absorbed her seeping blood as nourishment. Ye Wenxin hadn’t moved during the entire process. She knew from her inherited memories how formidable the Colored Flags, but this was far beyond her imagination.
In her transfixed state, a white thread had reformed into the white furball. The furball squinted its eyes and let out an “aowu”, as if trying to communicate something.
“What is she saying?” Fairy Fengya, realizing she couldn’t break free, turned to Ye Wenxin and inquired about the furball’s message.
Even though the furball was Ye Wenxin’s daughter, only Ghost Mother could comprehend her speech. However, Ye Wenxin didn’t want Fairy Fengya to know this, so she decided to make something up. “White says, ‘How can you bear to harm something so cute? So I will punish you.’”
The furball seemed to understand Ye Wenxin’s intention and let out a few dissatisfied “aowu”. Ye Wenxin felt a bit sheepish. Although she didn’t understand what the white furball said, Ye Wenxin could tell she was very displeased. She decided to fabricate another excuse. “Look, Mommy is going to give this bad person a good lesson.”
Ye Wenxin rolled up her sleeves, adopting a confrontational stance. The other furballs transformed back into their original forms upon seeing this, and created a space for Ye Wenxin to “fight” Fairy Fengya.
At that moment, terror gripped the former Demon Lord.
Fairy Fengya responded with an “oh” and drew her Cold Soul Sword again, seemingly preparing to demonstrate her swordsmanship to Ye Wenxin.
“Ahem, I was just joking, little ones. Please, continue restraining her.” Ye Wenxin’s survival instincts kicked in. An unamused Fairy Fengya sheathed her long sword and wiped the blood from her wounds. She seemed completely indifferent to her injuries.
“Forget it. Who made me such a good person?” Ye Wenxin sighed in resignation and pulled Fairy Fengya to sit down at the side. She applied medicine to her wounds, stopping their bleeding. Fairy Fengya didn’t struggle or cry out in pain. She remained like an emotionless puppet following someone else’s script.
The furballs began to scatter, and then brought back many women’s private items, as if to make up for White’s actions.
“Don’t look at me like that; it was their decision to bring these… Oh right, here, your dudou.”
Despite her denial, Ye Wenxin gathered the dudou and put them away. She planned to sell them for a small profit once she returned to Azure Wings Sect.
Even though she wasn’t sure who the other dudou belonged to, the furballs had completely overridden Ye Wenxin’s conscience. She had no intention of returning them.
However, she couldn’t afford to offend Fairy Fengya, so she reluctantly returned the dudou to Fairy Fengya. Fairy Fengya took the dudou and, with a somewhat complicated expression, remarked, “This isn’t mine.”
“???”
It seemed that Fairy Fengya only now realized that the dudou she had worn several times was not actually hers.
“Of course it isn’t yours. It even has the character ‘Ye’ embroidered on it. I didn’t expect the great Fairy Fengya to have a preference for wearing someone else’s dudou.” Ye Wenxin rolled her eyes and reflexively made a sarcastic comment.
Fairy Fengya glanced at the dudou again, as if considering returning it to Ye Wenxin, but after a moment’s thought, she took out a new one from her bag of holding. The new dudou was made of fine silk, and incredibly smooth to the touch. It was likely some idiot’s gift to Fairy Fengya.
“I’ll give you this in exchange,” Fairy Fengya explained her intention behind the gift.
Ye Wenxin had intended to give the dudou away before taking it back, but Fairy Fengya took it back right away.
Only Fairy Fengya could be so incapable of understanding human emotions.
“So, where did this treasure come from?”
“A man who likes to speak in a breathy voice gave it to me.”
“???”
Ye Wenxin found the description strange—so strange, in fact, that she immediately felt like tossing the dudou away. When Fairy Fengya offered no further explanation, Ye Wenxin quickly handed the dudou back to her.
It was only then that Fairy Fengya, as if slow to catch on, continued, “He said something about being the Clothing Immortal.”
Ye Wenxin snatched the undergarment back, this time with some excitement. The Clothing Immortal was renowned for being the best tailor in the world. He made many of Long Qingyue’s clothes, and influential people all across the world sought his creations as prized possessions.
However, the Clothing Immortal was an eccentric character, and for him to have personally gifted clothing to Fairy Fengya only demonstrated how strong her female lead halo truly was.
Unaware of what Ye Wenxin knew, Fairy Fengya casually flicked her robes and added, “All of my clothes came from him.”
Ye Wenxin stared at Fairy Fengya, her gaze filled with a mixture of envy, jealousy, and bitterness. She couldn’t help but marvel at the difference between them.
Back in the day, when she was still the Demon Lord, Ye Wenxin had heard rumors about the Clothing Immortal. So she kidnapped him and brought him to the Wind and Moon Palace. But, to her frustration, the man turned out to be a stubbornly honest youth who refused to make any clothes for her, even after she wiped out his entire clan in anger.
“Pathetic simp!” Ye Wenxin clenched her teeth in hatred. She knew that Fairy Fengya understood the term ‘simp’ after she had taught it to her that one time.
Fairy Fengya hesitated for a moment, before pulling another garment from her bag of holding.
It was black this time, the opposite of her usual white. But just like her other clothes, the craftsmanship and material were of the highest quality. Ye Wenxin was already jealous, and her expression twisted in an ugly display of resentment upon seeing the new outfit.
“What, are you showing off?”
“No, it’s for you.”
“All of the Clothing Immortal’s garments are custom-made. You shouldn’t reject the old master’s kind gesture.” Ye Wenxin was torn between wanting the dress, and feeling that since the Clothing Immortal would never willingly make clothes for her, there was no point in coveting another beautiful outfit.
Fairy Fengya glanced at the dress, and continued, “This was originally meant to be a gift, to commemorate us becoming master and disciple. Since that never happened, this dress has no use for me now.”
After Fairy Fengya explained the dress’s backstory, Ye Wenxin held it up, realizing that its style perfectly matched her tastes. It seemed that during the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament, Fairy Fengya had informed the Clothing Immortal of Ye Wenxin’s identity, so he made the dress.
Yet, no matter what the present or future held, they were never destined to be master and disciple.
