Chapter 465: Go Sleep With Ah Jiu
Fairy Fengya seemed to realize that Ye Wenxin was shifting the blame to her. She pressed her lips tight and innocently stared at Long Qing’er, as if silently proving her innocence.
Long Qing’er felt so infuriated. Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to take it out on Fairy Fengya or Ye Wenxin. With a huff, she squeezed herself between the two and immediately went to sleep, clearly intending not to bother with this matter anymore.
Ye Wenxin found it boring. Just as she closed her eyes, she suddenly remembered that the peach blossom demon was still possessing her. She quickly opened her eyes, wanting to wake Long Qing’er to discuss it, but Long Qing’er was playing dead, and Fairy Fengya was completely emotionless. With no other choice, Ye Wenxin left the tent.
It was already deep into the night, and there were patrols everywhere. Occasionally, an acquaintance would greet Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin planned to find a quiet place to deal with the peach blossom demon possession, when she spotted Abbess Jiunan not far away.
She was meditating, isolating herself in tranquility, seeming completely disconnected from her surroundings. As if she sensed Ye Wenxin’s footsteps, the abbess opened her eyes and revealed a small smile, appearing quite relaxed.
Abbess Jiunan’s complexion looked quite good today; perhaps acting as Ah Jiu had provided her with some spiritual relief. When Ye Wenxin greeted her, Abbess Jiunan invited her to sit on the cushion nearby, her smile widening.
There was a sweetness and brightness to her expression, and it seemed that, under different identities, Ah Jiu had made more progress with Ye Tian. Ye Wenxin felt both happy and concerned.
After all, no matter how good Ah Jiu was, she was still Abbess Jiunan. Given the abbess’s current position, it was difficult for her to break away and become someone who simply wanted to be with her beloved. Thus, Ye Wenxin was curious about how Abbess Jiunan planned to handle these feelings.
Just then, she heard the abbess ask with a smile, “I heard you came to seek out this nun today.”
Abbess Jiunan’s acting skills were as impeccable as ever. Ye Wenxin nodded in response. “Yes, I have some questions. If you don’t mind answering them, Abbess.”
To be honest, she still didn’t know how to expel the peach blossom demon. Moreover, she wasn’t sure if it was worse than the Yin-Yang ghosts, as this demon not only absorbed Yin energy, but also sought more nutrients, further deteriorating Ye Wenxin’s condition.
So, Ye Wenxin thought of Abbess Jiunan. With her extensive knowledge, and from what she had said when she was Ah Jiu, she should have some understanding of demonic possession.
“Oh? Tell me more.” Abbess Jiun showed a curious expression as she waited for Ye Wenxin to share her story.
Ye Wenxin didn’t elaborate much about Ah Jiu’s involvement. She just described the strange dream she had entered, and the experiences that followed. Abbess Jiunan listened with a smile, not a frown, which led Ye Wenxin to believe that the issue with the demon should be easy to resolve. So she asked, “Well, Abbess. How can I drive this demon away?”
Despite Ye Wenxin’s question, Abbess Jiunan asked, “You mentioned that a woman saved you?” She veered off topic somewhat, and Ye Wenxin assumed Abbess Jiunan was fishing for compliments, so she added another description.
“An understanding lady as beautiful as a celestial saved me.”
Abbess Jiunan laughed at this description, but quickly became serious and said, “Not that. Since that woman saved you, she must have something that could dispel the illusion. The next few days, you could try spending more time with her. Perhaps it will draw out the peach blossom demon. Once the demon appears, this nun has methods to deal with it.”
Abbess Jiunan’s response was intriguing, almost like she was indirectly encouraging Ye Wenxin to spend time with Ah Jiu. Ye Wenxin found it perplexing, but suddenly remembered that while she knew Ah Jiu was actually Abbess Jiunan, the peach blossom demon did not.
Since demons inherently feared the light, Buddhist and Daoist techniques could restrain them. If she was with Abbess Jiunan every day, it would be quite difficult for the demon to cause trouble.
Ye Wenxin caught Abbess Jiunan’s meaning, thanked her, and mischievously added, “Then I’ll go sleep with Ah Jiu.”
There was no hint of ambiguity in her words, yet Abbess Jiunan’s body trembled slightly. Ye Wenxin wasn’t sure if the implication in her words had excited the abbess, or if it was due to the fact that Ye Wenxin was about to seek out Ah Jiu.
After all, Ah Jiu was Abbess Jiunan, and the abbess couldn’t be in two places at the same time. She paused for a moment before hurriedly saying, “It’s quite late now. Why don’t you stay here and chat a bit with me, Benefactor? You can find that lady in the morning.”
Ye Wenxin pretended to hesitate, telling her she was really afraid of dying, but Abbess Jiunan was firm yet gentle, not giving Ye Wenxin a chance to leave. She had quite the glib tongue, and Ye Wenxin could find no holes in her reasoning.
If it weren’t for her special ability, Ye Wenxin might not even know how many people had deceived her. However, this special ability had made her a bit complacent lately. Now, having the peach blossom demon taking sanctuary in her back added another layer of worry for Ye Wenxin.
The night came to an end, as the two chatted about some profound Buddhist theories until the sky brightened. When Ye Wenxin noticed the sun rising, she got up and said, “Now that it’s bright out, I’m off to find Miss Ah Jiu.”
Abbess Jiunan had just started to relax, yet now her face stiffened subtly. She wanted to stop Ye Wenxin, but the latter had run off like lightning.
Thus, the usually calm Abbess Jiunan had no choice but to leave in a fluster, and many witnessed her figure running past like the wind. When Ye Wenxin arrived at Ah Jiu’s quarters, she found a very tousled-looking Ah Jiu.
It seemed that the abbess had just sprinted with all her might, and managed to be only a little faster than Ye Wenxin. She was still huddled under the quilt, and if Ye Wenxin guessed right, she should still be wearing the monastic robes she hadn’t had time to change out of.
Maybe only someone as earnest as Ah Jiu could pull off such a dedicated performance. Ye Wenxin suppressed a smile, feigning concern as she looked at Ah Jiu.
“Your face is really red, Miss Ah Jiu. Are you well?”
Ah Jiu cursed Ye Wenxin in her heart ten thousand times. She was a real bully. However, Ah Jiu continued to feign weakness and said, “Just a little discomfort from the unfamiliar environment, but I’m much better now.”
She shrank further into the quilt, revealing only part of her neck, as if trying to hide the fact that she was still wearing her monastic robes underneath.
