Chapter 536: The Kitsune’s Counterattack
The possibility increased the more Ye Wenxin thought about it. The kitsune still appeared in high spirits, so she inquired more about recent situations centered on Long Qingyue.
After a thoughtful moment, the kitsune responded, “A while ago, I remember the Golden Age Dynasty was constantly fighting to annex other powers. It won’t be long before the balance between the Ten Great Dynasties crumbles.”
As an academy that supplied talents to various dynasties, they understood the situation in different regions.
However, this was a dimension separated from the rest of the realm, and a grasp of current affairs seemed to have little use. Even if the people here knew of current events, they couldn’t leave the dimension.
Ye Wenxin was concerned about what the kitsune and Wen Susu were guarding here.
Because of this doubt, she decided to stay and wait.
“I see. What do you think of the current situation, Miss?” Ye Wenxin asked again to gauge the kitsune’s honest opinion about Long Qingyue.
“The Eldest Princess is ambitious and intelligent. Unless something unexpected happens, she will likely unify all the dynasties on this continent within a few years under the Golden Age Dynasty’s banner,” the kitsune replied after consideration.
Ye Wenxin found this hard to believe. Long Qingyue had previously stated that she was not interested in holding all the power.
So, was there someone in the Golden Age Dynasty with grander ambitions than Long Qingyue? As Ye Wenxin pondered this, she saw the kitsune smiling. “Xiaowen, what are you thinking?”
Ye Wenxin frowned slightly and said, “I’m thinking about causes. Didn’t you say there is a law of cause and effect, Miss? So, what gave Long Qinqyue the idea to annex other powers?”
The kitsune showed her approval. “You’re on the right track. She had no reason until the other dynasties sent assassins to kill her. When none of the nine dynasties acknowledged it, they triggered the beginning of this war.” A hint of admiration flickered in the kitsune’s eyes. It seemed she truly had a good impression of Long Qingyue.
Long Qingyue was a downright villain, and her evil lay in her conflicts of interest. If someone offended her dynasty, she would not hesitate to use any means to decimate them. But how could the other dynasties dare to send assassins and provoke conflict when they felt so threatened?
Ye Wenxin laughed at this thought, prompting the kitsune to ask, “Have you understood something?”
“Her Highness probably orchestrated this all herself. So, what could have prompted her to enact such an idea?” Ye Wenxin concluded. Long Qingyue’s intentions were becoming increasingly difficult for her to decipher.
The kitsune was silent, seemingly unable to think of an answer for a moment.
Even if Ye Wenxin did not possess Long Qingyue’s keen insight, as her best friend, she was still one of the people closest to her.
Liu Churan was currently annexing the demon sects like crazy to expand her influence within the demon sect faction. She would surely pose a threat to the dynasty. Long Qingyue likely created this solution after realizing how troublesome Liu Churan had become.
It seemed like a competition with the way both parties tried to outdo each other. Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but feel she would end up taking the blame for the final confrontation between the two factions. Both women were the closest people to Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, and the runaway Demon Lord would inevitably become the reason for their conflict.
Ye Wenxin was happy to be remembered, but not in that way.
If Long Qingyue captured her, Ye Wenxin would belong solely to her.
If Liu Churan captured her, Ye Wenxin would only belong to her.
Thinking of it this way, Ye Wenxin found Fairy Fengya all the more endearing. As she muttered to herself, the kitsune gently tapped her. “Alright, enough small talk. Let’s continue with the lesson.”
Ye Wenxin felt she had gained much understanding, so she nodded and continued listening to the kitsune’s lecture. Once they finished reviewing the topics, Ye Wenxin attempted another quiz.
However, she wasn’t as fortunate as in the first quiz and made an error in one of her answers. The kitsune initially looked disappointed but immediately pressed Ye Wenxin back down upon spotting the mistake.
“Wait, do we have to go through this again?” Ye Wenxin wanted to reject this hickey punishment. It was unforgettable enough to make her remember this wild night for the rest of her life.
“Of course! Rules must be obeyed.” Ye Wenxin’s shyness only encouraged the jubilant kitsune’s desire to seduce her. “Would you rather I bring out the ruler?”
Perhaps the kitsune used this wheedling method because she genuinely saw Ye Wenxin as a thirteen-year-old.
Ye Wenxin immediately realized the kitsune was trying to trick her again. After a moment, she made her choice anyway. “Then let’s go with the ruler.”
Ye Wenxin obediently extended her hand. The kitsune’s pleased expression suddenly turned into dismay. She even forgot to maintain her teacher persona. Ye Wenxin saw through her thoughts and pressed, “Why aren’t you going through with it, Miss?”
The distressed kitsune responded, “The ruler is going to hurt. Are you sure?”
Ye Wenxin nodded, amused by the kitsune’s hesitation. “It’s my rightful punishment.” She tried to put on a serious face, while the kitsune’s growing dissatisfaction showed in her expression. Finally, she picked up the ruler to punish Ye Wenxin but was reluctant to follow through. Instead, she gave a light tap on Ye Wenxin’s palm.
“Eh, was it supposed to be this light?” Ye Wenxin feigned surprise, only to regret it immediately after as the kitsune brought the ruler down hard, the sting drawing a gasp from her.
With a smile, the kitsune explained her actions, “That first one was just a practice swing. Did that one hurt?” Baffled, Ye Wenxin squeezed out a few tears and replied, “Miss, it really hurts.”
Never losing her smile, the kitsune leaned down and blew gently on Ye Wenxin’s reddened hand. “Come, let me rub it better.” While blowing, she softly rubbed the reddened spot. Ye Wenxin suddenly regretted pushing her luck. Regardless of how this might end, she felt entirely at the kitsune’s mercy.
The so-called pop quiz seemed like another way for the kitsune to trap her. So Ye Wenxin started to plan a counterattack but then noticed the kitsune extend her tongue, giving Ye Wenxin’s hand a little lick.
It might be an animal’s instinct, but seeing the kitsune do this in human form provoked a strange feeling. A peculiar sensation started spreading from Ye Wenxin’s palm. Tingles went up her arm and the rest of her body.
“It’s already late. Would you like me to teach you something special?” Desire burning, the kitsune continued to seduce Ye Wenxin deeper into her trap. There was unmistakable confidence on her face, as if she planned to ‘consume’ Ye Wenxin this very night.
