Chapter 60: The Male Protagonist Got Tricked Again
Ye Wenxin experimented with the effects one by one, the senior brothers and sisters who had come to provoke her were left unable to beg for life or death, and it was not until midnight that this group of senior brothers and sisters were released.
“We’re sorry, junior sister, we won’t dare to do it anymore!”
“It’s fine, I, as junior sister, ask you to continue causing trouble for me. I’ve still got hundreds of acupoints I haven’t tried yet.” Ye Wenxin found this Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles increasingly fascinating, not only could it save lives and take lives, the fact that it could also torture simply provided greater pleasure, making it seem as if she had awakened some extraordinary abilities.
The senior brothers and sisters turned pale upon hearing this and crawled away to escape. Ye Wenxin threw away the used silver needles and then checked the remaining 99 sets still stocked in her bag of holding.
“This Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles is really hard to train, I’m not sure at which point I’ll be able to cure Ling Jue.” Ye Wenxin sighed deeply. She considered herself to have decent talent, but whether it was in alchemy or the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles, her progress was too slow.
What made her even more anxious was that Ling Jue only agreed to stay in the Azure Wings Sect for a year.
Now, half a year had already passed, and Ye Wenxin still had not found a solution.
Ye Wenxin sighed once again, wanting to push open the door of her dormitory. However, the door would not budge; it was locked from the inside. The windows were no different; unless Ye Wenxin forced her way in, there was no way to enter the dormitory.
“Miss Baili, could you please open the door?” Ye Wenxin was speechless as she attempted to knock on the door, hoping that Baili Mu would unlock it for her.
She knocked for a while, but there was no response from inside the room.
Ye Wenxin gathered her Qi to inspect the situation inside the room and confirmed that Baili Mu was not asleep. Not only was she awake, but Baili Mu had already sat up, though she showed no intention of opening the door, likely as a punishment for Ye Wenxin coming back late.
Ye Wenxin, feeling helpless, had no choice but to knock again. Baili Mu then reluctantly opened the door.
She was wearing only a thin undergarment, looking incredibly alluring, though her expression was slightly displeased.
However, Baili Mu said nothing. After opening the door, she returned to her bed. Ye Wenxin also remained silent, closing and locking the door before lying down in her own bed, quickly falling asleep…
The next morning, just as dawn broke, shouts could be heard from outside.
“All outer disciples assemble.” The voice, neither loud nor soft, penetrated into everyone’s ears clearly. Ye Wenxin had slept for less than three hours, compounded by the use of the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles yesterday, her body naturally had not fully recovered.
She stared at the ceiling with tired eyes, feeling the warmth and kindness of the blanket, contrasting with the cold and cruel world outside.
“Hurry up.” Seeing Ye Wenxin’s listless appearance, Baili Mu’s disdain was even more evident, but she still reminded her.
Reluctantly bidding farewell to her blanket, Ye Wenxin changed into some clothes and arrived when all the outer disciples had already assembled. As the last one to arrive, Ye Wenxin stood out conspicuously.
The outer sect elder frowned at Ye Wenxin’s lazy demeanor, his expression turning unpleasant. “Don’t join the line. Stand over there as punishment!”
With these words, everyone’s attention was focused on Ye Wenxin. Some were gleeful, some curious, but everyone could not help but remember that face.
“I don’t care about your status or position outside. Once you enter the Azure Wings Sect, you’re just Azure Wings Sect disciples, and everyone must abide by the rules here.” The outer sect elder maintained a stern expression, addressing all the outer disciples, but his words were clearly aimed at Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin remained unmoved, glancing up at the sky before speaking to the elder, “Elder, it’s just now the assembly time.”
She did not want to draw attention to herself, but this elder’s attempt to make an example out of her was misguided. Yet, it was this statement that infuriated the elder, and he glared fiercely at Ye Wenxin.
“Are you the elder, or am I the elder?”
“You are.”
“Go stand in punishment!” The elder pointed to the designated area once again, his expression becoming even uglier.
Ye Wenxin was speechless. She had not believed the elders when they warned her about the complexities of the outer sect, but witnessing it today, this outer sect elder was simply over the top.
If it were not for Ye Wenxin needing to keep a low profile, she would have just knocked this elder back to kingdom come.
After a moment’s thought, Ye Wenxin still walked to the designated punishment area. The elder’s expression finally softened somewhat, and he began to lecture on the three disciplines taught in the outer sect.
Sword cultivation, physical cultivation, and spiritual cultivation.
Sword cultivation naturally referred to the Azure Wings Sect’s expertise in swordsmanship, physical cultivation focused on physical fitness exercises, and spiritual cultivation involved meditation to gather spiritual energy from the heavens and earth to cultivate one’s strength. In addition to these three disciplines, the Azure Wings Sect also provided its disciples with a foundational cultivation method.
The disciples felt as if they had gained precious treasures, but Ye Wenxin glanced at it and felt that this Azure Wings Sect foundational cultivation method was simply rubbish.
“This cultivation method was personally written by this elder.” The outer sect elder was so proud of himself, unaware of how much the disciples revered him for this foundational cultivation method they had received.
One day…two days…
Studying time passed in the blink of an eye, Ye Wenxin, during the day, would always be late and dragged to the punishment area, while at night, she would search for test subjects for the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles.
“Big Sister, we got beaten up again.” Fatty and his friends, spurred on by Ye Wenxin, would go looking for trouble with their senior brothers and sisters every day. In just a month, these little followers had grown significantly in strength, but their bodies were covered in more and more scars.
Yet, Ye Wenxin had grown accustomed to the sorry state of her followers and continued to use the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles on them.
“All better in an instant! Big Sister, you’re awesome!”
“Yeah, thanks to Big Sister, I’ve even broken through.”
In less than an hour, the wounds on the followers’ bodies had healed, and Ye Wenxin handed them a few bottles of second-grade Qi Refining Pills.
“Keep it up. The way to get stronger is to beat people stronger than yourself,” Ye Wenxin encouraged her followers to keep fighting.
“Big Sister, we’ll keep working hard!” The followers expressed their joy and quickly left after thanking Ye Wenxin, ready to find more senior brothers and sisters to pick fights with.
Once again, Ye Wenxin’s room returned to silence. She held a novel that her followers had snatched and immersed herself in reading.
But moments later, Baili Mu returned to the room after finishing her meal, wrinkling her brows at the strong smell of blood in the air.
“You let someone into the room again.” Over the past month, Baili Mu’s disgust towards Ye Wenxin had only grown stronger.
In Baili Mu’s eyes, Ye Wenxin was just a rich young lady who mingled with men every day, was always late, and lacked any real skills, merely coasting through life at the Azure Wings Sect. Ye Wenxin did not bother explaining herself. She also had never used the Soul Suppressing Eighteen Needles in front of Baili Mu, nor did she care to explain anything to her.
“What, I didn’t even cross any lines, and you still have a problem?” Ye Wenxin put down her novel, her expression full of helplessness.
“Why can’t you go somewhere else to do your business? This is a place for sleeping.” Baili Mu’s face flushed with anger. Standing next to the thirty eighth parallel1, she seemed like she wanted to step forward and devour Ye Wenxin.
“Well, yes, it’s for sleeping,” Ye Wenxin replied with mock seriousness, but Baili Mu sensed another meaning in her words and immediately retorted, “Shameless, vulgar!” With that, she stomped her foot and stormed out of the room.
Watching Baili Mu’s angry departure, Ye Wenxin muttered to herself, “Ah, this girl is too uptight. It’s been a month already, and she still hasn’t realized I’m a good person.”
She could not help but speak to herself, finding amusement in teasing Baili Mu.
However, unbeknownst to the self-proclaimed kind-hearted Ye Wenxin, she had long been seen as a flirtatious woman among the outer disciples, gaining quite a reputation in their circle.
“It’s this time already, I’m going to grab a bite and maybe bump into someone.” Watching the sunset, Ye Wenxin finally got up from her bed and leisurely walked towards the dining hall.
Not long into her walk, she spotted a splash of red.
Among all the disciples, only the true disciples were allowed to wear red. And within the circle of outer disciples, it was even rarer to see a true disciple. Ye Wenxin could not help but take a few more glances, feeling a growing sense of familiarity.
Upon closer inspection, the man with a bitter expression in front of her was none other than the male lead, Gu Aotian.
“Brother Aotian, it’s been a while.” Ye Wenxin greeted Gu Aotian eagerly, anxious to inquire about the recent whereabouts of Fairy Fengya.
It took Gu Aotian several seconds to react. “Miss Wenxin, it’s you.” His words sounded feeble, and as Ye Wenxin observed him, she realized that Gu Aotian had not made any progress in his cultivation.
“Why’d you come here? Don’t tell me Fairy Fengya has too many demands?” Ye Wenxin joked, but upon hearing her words, Gu Aotian’s eyes became moist, as if he had suffered a great grievance.
“Um, does Fairy Fengya really have such big demands?” Ye Wenxin was taken aback by his reaction. She had only intended to make a joke, but she had not expected Fairy Fengya to be like this.
With such a secret, Ye Wenxin felt the urge to immediately spread the news and ruin Fairy Fengya’s reputation.
While she was muttering to herself, Gu Aotian’s expression became even more gloomy, “It’s not about demands or not. I still haven’t seen my master yet. According to the other school masters, my master went into closed door training after the recruitment assembly.”
Gu Aotian was incredibly aggrieved. Despite enjoying the status of a true disciple for a month, he had not even seen Fairy Fengya.
Ye Wenxin almost burst out laughing as she listened, feeling even more proud of her past wit.
She had always known that Fairy Fengya was nothing short of a leveling maniac, and recruiting disciples was just a formality for her to appease those old men. Fortunately, that unlucky true disciple was not her.
Ye Wenxin could not help but chuckle, which only made Gu Aotian look even more disheartened, staring at Ye Wenxin with a hesitant expression.
There was no need to guess—Gu Aotian had come to the outer disciple area for the purpose of finding her.
