Chapter 706: Break
Ye Wenxin patted each furball’s head, ignoring Ghost Mother. Immobilized, Ghost Mother dreaded Ye Wenxin might do something terrible again.
Ye Wenxin’s movements deliberately slowed. Like an artist meticulous to every detail, she added new scripture to the whip. Ghost Mother turned deathly pale. She couldn’t decipher scriptures but sensed it was a Tranquility Mantra.
Realizing her reckless actions were catching up to her, Ghost Mother pleaded, “Master, I know I was wrong.”
“You realize this now?” Ye Wenxin said skeptically. “Weren’t you just talking about eating me or doing something with your tail?”
Unhurriedly, she finished the final stroke on the whip before infusing it with her qi. Ye Wenxin flicked it lightly.
The runes on the whip began to glow. The whip itself emitted an unusual radiance. Ye Wenxin watched in astonishment as the whip visibly became softer and more supple. What shocked her even more was that pink peach blossoms had replaced the whip’s vibrant red flowers.
She gently swung the whip at a nearby table, splitting it with a sharp crack. The shocking scene told Ye Wenxin she had inadvertently evolved the weapon.
Unlike swords or blades, this whip required little technical precision to wield. A sweet fragrance emanated from it as if to suggest it wasn’t for killing.
“Was this how the legendary Peach Blossom Whip came to be?”
Ye Wenxin’s thoughts drifted to the Peach Blossom Whip’s legend.
According to that legend, the Peach Blossom Whip was Immortal Lord Taohua’s divine weapon. However, it was a tool for kinky activities, not killing. The whip would drain the target’s negative emotions at every hit, making them lose the will to fight.
Ye Wenxin looked at the Peach Blossom Whip she had created. She had the perfect test subject here, too. Ye Wenxin looked at Ghost Mother. Her lips curved with mischief.
“Ah, dear Gui Gui, we haven’t had fun together in so long.” Ye Wenxin’s grin took on a wicked edge. “What a perfect opportunity this is. Shall we play a little?”
She had been wondering how to punish Ghost Mother. Now, the solution came into her hands.
Ghost Mother immediately sensed the impending danger. She struggled desperately, but the ribbons held her tightly in place. Ye Wenxin went around her, speaking in a leisurely tone. “Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle. Just like you were with me earlier.”
Ye Wenxin lashed the whip. Although Ghost Mother had braced herself, she still cried out wildly. Strangely, there were no visible wounds on her body. She looked quite pleased, even.
Ye Wenxin didn’t know if this reaction stemmed from some latent inclination within Ghost Mother or the Peach Blossom Whip possessed the ability to extract excess emotions. Its effect seemed to heighten Ghost Mother’s senses, making her body more sensitive.
“How does it feel, Gui Gui?” Ye Wenxin asked. She was like a cruel nightmare, grating at Ghost Mother’s ears and her very being.
“I know I was wrong, Master!” pleaded Ghost Mother. “Please spare me…. It feels so strange.”
But Ye Wenxin responded with more ruthlessness instead of mercy.
“You can still call me Master?” Ye Wenxin’s voice grew colder. “You left me for Ran’er without a word. I also didn’t say anything when you helped her. Yet, you insist on killing me? You have no regard for me as your master.”
Recent events had been overwhelming. Everyone was mixed up in one giant mess. And now, Ghost Mother dared to provoke her.
Her many evil deeds had nothing to do with Ye Wenxin. But Ghost Mother came here to challenge her authority, which deeply upset her.
Ye Wenxin observed Ghost Mother. Despite the regret on her face, Ghost Mother would never learn. She might recognize her mistake now but would persist at the next opportunity.
Ghost Mother was indeed powerful. She had grown stronger after consuming a hundred children. Maybe she would consume a hundred more, becoming much harder to handle. Ye Wenxin knew she must subdue Ghost Mother’s heart as well. However, that was easier said than done.
She followed the old method and gave Ghost Mother a lesson she would never forget.
Ye Wenxin tossed the Peach Blossom Whip onto the floor. Ghost Mother watched with relief. She assumed her weak act had finally worked. However, the whip unexpectedly grew roots, sprouting into a small tree about a person’s height.
But unlike ordinary trees, this one lacked foliage, only branches resembling menacing tentacles. Although the peach blossoms gave it a more charming appearance, they couldn’t hide the tree’s sinister nature.
Ye Wenxin took one of the branches and squeezed it. “Quite soft. Just as I imagined,” she commented with satisfaction. The vine wrapped around her hand, as if cordially communicating with her.
In truth, the vine was under Ye Wenxin’s control. She initially intended to use Flower Burial to simulate a terrifying monster and give Ghost Mother a hellish thrill. Instead, she ended up with this bizarre entity. The more she looked at it, the stranger it seemed, like those creatures that pop up in certain stories to give fan service.
Despite being a pseudo version, the vine tree was enough for torturing someone. A smile curled at the corner of Ye Wenxin’s lips. She directed the vine tree to attack Ghost Mother.
The vine tree launched Whip Strike; -10 to Ghost Mother’s health.
The vine tree initiated Kamikaze; -20 to Ghost Mother’s health.
The vine tree used Taunt; -30 to Ghost Mother’s health.
The vine tree performed Multi-Strike; -40 to Ghost Mother’s health.
Ghost Mother lost consciousness. Awaken her to continue torture?
Ghost Mother regained consciousness. +50 health…
The vine tree kept attacking. Ghost Mother spiraled helplessly among the clouds. One could imagine the sensation. Ye Wenxin was highly entertained. Vines ensnared Ghost Mother’s tail and tightened around her horns.
“No… stop… they’ll break!”
Ghost Mother couldn’t fight back. She passed out again, and her tail disappeared. When those eyes opened, they were red. So was the hair.
“What… what happened?” Sword Ghost had been forcibly switched back. She looked confused, unaware of the madness Ye Wenxin had done.
Ye Wenxin sipped her tea. She raised the cup, changing the subject. “Would you like some?”
Sword Ghost became more confused. She noticed the peach blossom petals in the tea. But Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng’s battle against the Fairy Fengya imposter had destroyed all the peach blossom trees on the mountain. Yet, Ye Wenxin was drinking tea made with freshly bloomed peach blossoms.
