Chapter 75: I’m Still a Child 2
“Sister, long time no see.” Gu Aotian also noticed Gu Xiangsi, whose temperament had undergone a great change in just over a month. The only things that remained constant were her fresh and pure face and that buxom figure.
Despite Gu Aotian greeting her first, Gu Xiangsi turned to sit on Ye Wenxin’s bench, tugging Ye Wenxin’s hand as she asked her question after question.
“Big Sis, how have you been lately?”
“Big Sis, did you miss me?”
Gu Aotian had been with Gu Xiangsi for more than ten years, yet he could not match the several days Gu Xiangsi had with Ye Wenxin.
“I’ve been doing fine, but your brother’s about to cry, go give him some care.” Ye Wenxin was both amused and embarrassed. Although she understoond this was caused by Gu Xiangsi’s androphobia, as a male protagonist, Gu Aotian was the worst one in the world.
Not only did he not have anyone to love him dearly, he kept being disliked instead.
Ye Wenxin shifted her gaze. The three of them were huddled on one bench, while Gu Aotian had a bench to himself, looking a little lonesome.
“This senior sister is…”
The eyes of the Azure Wings Sect disciples sitting across from them were also drawn to Xiao Zhang, who radiated with sophisticated allure, to the delicate and pretty Ye Wenxin, and to the delectable beauty of Gu Xiangsi.
The three varying charms were enough to bring great visual satisfaction.
People were both envious and jealous of Gu Aotian, but Gu Aotian just smiled wryly, as he was aware that these beauties’ thoughts were not on him.
“This is a bit too crowded. Brother Aotian, make some room.” Looking at the pitiful Gu Aotian, Ye Wenxin willingly pulled out her hand from Gu Xiangsi’s, ready to move to Gu Aotian’s side.
“Alright.” Gu Aotian, who felt left out, immediately scooted over. There was no desire in his eyes, only gratitude towards his benefactor.
“Big Sis, why are you going over there? Just let Big Brother play by himself.” Noticing Ye Wenxin actually wanted to leave, Gu Xiangsi held on even tighter, not giving Ye Wenxin a chance to get close to Gu Aotian.
“Worry not, Xiangsi, I won’t steal your brother.” Ye Wenxin assumed Gu Xiangsi had misunderstood her action and explained that she did not harbor any ideas towards Gu Aotian.
But as soon as the words came out, Gu Xiangsi showed an even odder expression, as if she wanted to clarify something yet uncertain if this was the right time, so she did not continue stopping Ye Wenxin and just stared fixedly at her.
Ye Wenxin hastily sent a wink at Xiao Zhang, who although a bit discontented, still helped pour Gu Xiangsi a cup of tea.
Only then did Gu Xiangsi, who had been entirely absorbed with Ye Wenxin, noticed Xiao Zhang’s presence. Gu Xiangsi thanked her, lifted the cup and said her name.
“I’m Gu Xiangsi from the Hall of Teaching.”
Xiao Zhang also raised her own cup and gave a brief self-introduction.
“Zhang Qianqian, outer disciple.”
After that was done, the two began to drink tea, exchanging no further words between them.
Ye Wenxin could not laugh or cry watching them, but Gu Aotian, who had suffered too many grievances, was still telling her about his latest misery.
Fairy Fengya refused to acknowledge him, while the senior brothers and sisters ignored him.
“What’s most excessive is, Fatty and the guys have started cultivating seriously, and none of them ever hang out with me anymore.” Gu Aotian felt so wronged as he recalled Fatty, with whom he had gotten along very well.
Not only did he lost a lot of weight after coming to the Azure Wings Sect, his recent speed in cultivation was also especially fast, and he even refused Gu Aotian’s request to cultivate together.
As Fatty’s Big Sister, Ye Wenxin naturally knew that all of this was her fault.
She taught high-tier manuals to the little brothers to prevent danger from befalling them, so Fatty and the guys’ cultivation were conducted stealthily, which resulted in Gu Aotian losing even his last playmate.
“Then you should also redouble your efforts.” Ye Wenxin naturally could not tell Gu Aotian what she had done, but seeing that sorry face, she still added, “You can try to find your master. Who knows, she might be in closed door training somewhere in the backwoods.”
Gu Aotian was both frustrated and disappointed as he listened, “Let alone the backwoods, I’ve searched every nook and cranny in the entire Azure Wings Sect, and could not find Master’s seclusion place at all.” Poor Gu Aotian knew not that Ye Wenxin was the source of all these variables and confided his helplessness unreservedly.
“Well, maybe she’s playing hide-and-seek with you, and your master would give you good luck once you find her.” Ye Wenxin thought of the ancient manual in Fairy Fengya’s hands, her mood a bit peculiar.
It must be said, [God-Slaying Sword Technique] and [Record of Divine Weapons] were so tempting that even Ye Wenxin wanted to take them for herself. But she also understood that those opportunities were not hers to take, so she simply kept suggesting to Gu Aotian not to give up.
Gu Aotian listened in one ear and out the other, just nodding his head cursorily.
On the other side, seeing that she could not join in the topic, Gu Xiangsi took the wooden food container and left quickly. As for Xiao Zhang, she sat down beside Ye Wenxin and served her tea.
“Do the Secret Guard always serve this attentively?” Ye Wenxin said in surprise. Even though Ling Jue was also very gentle, that gentleness was cultivated over time, accumulated through long-term practice.
It was different from Xiao Zhang’s gentleness, which was innate, as if she could anticipate Ye Wenxin’s next move in just one glance.
“No, it’s just attentive service to you,” Xiao Zhang dismissed Ye Wenxin’s banter, then picked up a piece of fruit and offered it to Ye Wenxin.
Unaccustomed to being fed, Ye Wenxin declined the gesture and continued, “That’s unnecessary. We merely have a transactional relationship; you don’t need to be so kind to me.”
Xiao Zhang chuckled and picked up another spirit fruit, this time placing it directly near Ye Wenxin’s mouth.
“There are other reasons, of course.”
“What reasons?” Ye Wenxin asked somewhat curiously, eyeing the fruit placed even closer.
“I’ll tell you once you eat this.”
Ye Wenxin had no choice but to comply, eyes looking questioningly at Xiao Zhang.
“It’s especially easy to attract other people’s attention when I’m near you, and I find it amusing.” Xiao Zhang answered with satisfaction, prompting Ye Wenxin to look around them, and noticed several people staring at her.
There were men and women, with only Ling Jue being the familiar one among them, but the other ones gave no impression at all to Ye Wenxin.
“Did you do something recently?” Ye Wenxin pondered for a few seconds and came up with a new possibility.
“Sort of…but I didn’t expect the effect to be so good. No need to fret though, I’ll help you utterly eradicate them.” Cold flashed by in Xiao Zhang’s eyes, and she handed her another spirit fruit.
With the experience from last time, Ye Wenxin did not hesitate to eat it this time. However, unlike the spirit fruit from before, this one tasted indescribably weird.
“Don’t spit it out, finish it,” Xiao Zhang ordered. Left with no other choice, Ye Wenxin swallowed it, her stomach churning very unpleasantly.
“What did you make me eat?” Ye Wenxin pressed suspiciously. The only certainty she had was that it was not poison.
“A drug that can alter bone marrow,” said Xiao Zhang very coolly, so cool as if she was doing something trivial.
“Bone marrow, alter?” Ye Wenxin was even more bewildered.
“I’ve given it a thought. I’m going to die anyway, so might as well have a good time before I go.” Despite her relaxed tone, her words put dread in Ye Wenxin’s stomach.
“Good time, huh. Don’t tell me you gave me a Transformation Pill again.” Recalling Xiao Zhang’s particular fondness for ‘Ye Liangchen’s’ face, Ye Wenxin immediately put two and two together.
Xiao Zhang laughed even harder as she listened. Propping her chin up with one hand, she looked at Ye Wenxin with amusement, “You can think of it that way, but this pill is much more valuable than the Transformation Pill. After I teach you the trick, you can change into any appearance.”
Xiao Zhang deliberately omitted the value or name of the pill, just casually brushing it off. But no matter what this pill was, it was completely unnecessary for Ye Wenxin, who already mastered the Bone Shrinking Technique. Instead of being thankful, she wanted to spit the pill out and analyze its components, to see if she had a chance of recreating it.
“Don’t try to spit it out now. I know you like Alchemy, and if I gave it to you directly, you would definitely refuse me. So I just hid it in the spirit fruit.” Xiao Zhang’s lips quirked up slightly as she looked at Ye Wenxin’s expression, seemingly very satisfied with her little scheme.
“What should I do now?” Ye Wenxin asked helplessly, having no choice but to accept Xiao Zhang’s kindness.
“Of course, we need to find a place where no one is around. I’ll teach you the transformation method.” With that, Xiao Zhang stood up first. Ye Wenxin glanced at Ling Jue in the distance, forced a smile, and quickly left the dining hall with Xiao Zhang, leaving Gu Aotian by himself, feeling empty and lonely…
The wind outside was strong, with few people passing by on the road. Xiao Zhang seemed to feel the cold and huddled closer to Ye Wenxin.
“Where are we going now?”
“My room, naturally.”
Ye Wenxin stopped in her tracks, her face showing vigilance, “I’m still a child.”
Xiao Zhang burst out laughing, “What are you thinking? I, Zhang Qianqian, haven’t stooped so low as to do that kind of thing with a fake. If I’m going to teach you transformation magic, of course we need a quiet place. Unless you plan to go to your dorm and perform for Baili Mu?”
Ye Wenxin felt quite embarrassed, and Xiao Zhang laughed even harder. Leaning closer to her ear, she continued teasing, “I haven’t tried it with a girl before, but…”
A warm breath brushed against her ear, and Xiao Zhang’s eyes were full of playfulness, seeming to enjoy teasing Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin remained silent, pulling her hand out to walk ahead of her. After taking a few steps, she suddenly remembered that she had no idea where Xiao Zhang lived, and awkwardly turned back.
“Hehehehe…” Xiao Zhang watched Ye Wenxin’s embarrassment, feeling for the first time that teasing someone could be so much fun.
“Wenxin, you’re too cute.”
Ye Wenxin pretended she she did not hear anything, pouting as she followed behind Xiao Zhang. They took several meandering turns and very soon arrived at the place Xiao Zhang was staying.
It was not far from Ye Wenxin’s place. There were two beds inside, but only one was covered with bedding. The quilt was handmade and bright red, like a newlyweds’ bed.
At another glance, the quilt was very new, seeming to have been changed not too long ago.
“Your hobby is quite unique.” Ye Wenxin’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly at the sight of the quilt, reminded of the bedding she had been given, which she should have refused, but the quilt was just too comfortable.
“That quilt was made by my mother. She originally intended for me to use it when I got married, but she didn’t expect…” Xiao Zhang stroked the red quilt, her expression turning sorrowful. No one had expected that she would be leaving so soon, even before getting married.
