Chapter 753: The Show is On!
A massive explosion reverberated, followed by a cloud of white powder enveloping the surroundings. Once it cleared, a woman in red suddenly stood before Ye Wenxin.
Some people felt ice in their veins, others were fired up, while some were frozen in fear and shock. They had no idea how this woman in red had appeared.
They also didn’t know that Ye Wenxin, after that brief moment, was no longer Ye Wenxin. Liuli had substituted her.
The real Ye Wenxin had transformed into Gu Qingcheng. She had arrived soundlessly, her face devoid of expression.
“Qing— My Lord…” Liu Churan initially intended to call Gu Qingcheng by name. However, recalling the insurmountable gap between them, she hesitated. With a fearful tone, she finally addressed her as “My Lord”.
Gu Qingcheng swept her cold gaze over the area. She released her coercive pressure. Every disciple—Liu Churan included—had long since been disciplined into submission under her rule. Seeing Gu Qingcheng’s anger, Liu Churan hurriedly dropped to her knees.
Yet, Gu Qingcheng spared her no glance. She flicked her wrist. Crimson petals appeared, releasing the trapped Fairy Caihong.
Because Fairy Caihong had attempted to self-destruct with Ye Wenxin, her qi exploded, mangling her body. Although barely clinging to life, her eyes burned with hatred. She had to accomplish something, even in death.
Long Qingyue saw no flaw in Ye Wenxin and Gu Qingcheng standing in one place. Despite her doubt, she greeted, “Qingcheng, it has been a long time.”
Gu Qingcheng only cast her an indifferent glance before striding toward the dying Fairy Caihong.
Fairy Caihong squeezed her eyes shut in despair. She knew what Gu Qingcheng’s approach meant. Once Gu Qingcheng reached her, she would die.
But she couldn’t bring herself to accept it. She hated Ye Wenxin, hated everything, hated this damn world’s balance. If she had been stronger, she wouldn’t have had to endure so much suffering.
If she could redo her life, she would never forgive her father’s killer. Even though that person was a scoundrel, he had treated her as a daughter with the utmost care.
‘No! I won’t accept this!’
Fairy Caihong’s resolve pushed her to lock eyes with the legendary Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng. If she were to die, she would die with dignity.
Everyone thought Gu Qingcheng had rushed over here to kill Fairy Caihong for trying to harm her biological daughter, Ye Wenxin.
They held their breaths in anticipation.
Gu Qingcheng stretched out her delicate hand. A brilliant red flower gently enveloped Fairy Caihong. Blood-red liquid began to seep out. Fairy Caihong braced herself for pain. However, all she felt was soothing warmth flowing into her.
Flower Burial was meant for killing. But Gu Qingcheng could also use it to heal with a slight modification. She took a vial of powder from her bag of holding and poured it all out. As the powder mixed with the red liquid, Fairy Caihong grew more comfortable. She even felt her body regenerating.
Confused, Fairy Caihong wanted to ask what was happening. Gu Qingcheng shushed her.
“I’m sorry for making you bear everything with father-in-law.” Her words overturned everything that had happened until now.
Liu Churan was stunned. Even Long Qingyue was briefly taken aback. She nearly laughed out loud, finally understanding what her best friend intended to do after the crisis she had orchestrated.
“Don’t speak, Honghong.” Gu Qingcheng spoke tenderly. “You’re very weak right now.”
Fairy Caihong gave her a strange look. She wanted to protest she and Gu Qingcheng were complete strangers. However, she seemed to have no control over her voice. Unable to speak, she could only feel Gu Qingcheng’s hands caressing her face.
Gu Qingcheng gazed at Fairy Caihong lovingly, as if they had been a Dao couple for many years. Her hands felt so warm. The intensity of her gaze was enough to draw someone into complete stillness. Fairy Caihong dazedly reached out, unable to resist embracing Gu Qingcheng.
Gu Qingcheng’s lips faintly curved. She knew her Charm had fully taken effect. Since Long Qingyue had set a humongous trap for her, she would let her continue feeling awkward. Simultaneously, she would subtly inform Liu Churan she had already found someone new.
Fairy Caihong was an enemy. Gu Qingcheng didn’t care if she died as long as Liu Churan targeted her. Doing so ensured Liu Churan would resent Long Qingyue and redirected any hatred away from Ye Wenxin and the Azure Wings Sect. It was a win-win situation.
“Honghong, I’m taking you away,” said Gu Qingcheng. Her gaze held no one but Fairy Caihong.
Fairy Caihong gave her a sickly sweet smile. She shyly nuzzled against Gu Qingcheng’s neck.
The atmosphere turned eerily silent. No one dared to question what was happening.
Liu Churan finally snapped out of the string of blows she had just endured.
“Gu Qingcheng, you retired for her?” she almost screeched, her voice trembling.
After Gu Qingcheng had rejected her last time, Liu Churan believed if Gu Qingcheng loved no one and if she worked hard enough, she still had hope. But Gu Qingcheng would rather embrace a woman much uglier than her than accept her feelings. It was an overwhelming blow for Liu Churan.
Gu Qingcheng stopped in her tracks, then gently kissed Fairy Caihong’s forehead. “This is my Dao partner, Caihong,” she introduced. “Whenever you see her from now on, you should address her as ‘mother’.”
Liu Churan’s face turned deathly pale. She couldn’t speak for a long time. The twin sisters quickly took out spirit wine to relieve her anger and prevent Qi Deviation.
When no more questions came from Liu Churan, Gu Qingcheng continued on her way. She knew Liu Churan would eventually come to terms with everything and start her new life after such a clear rejection.
“Wait.” Liuli, disguised as Ye Wenxin, finally spoke up. “You still haven’t told me if I’m your daughter!”
That wasn’t part of the script. Gu Qingcheng paused, then turned to look at Long Qingyue.
Long Qingyue would lose face if she answered directly. But Ye Wenxin would suffer if she said nothing.
“Ask Yue’er.” Gu Qingcheng said. “She knows best whether it’s the truth.”
The crowd automatically parted to let Gu Qingcheng pass. No one dared to stop her.
Everything had unfolded in just a few minutes. Yet, the changes brought about were earth-shaking.
