Chapter 82: Qingcheng Fengya (Second Update)
Seeing that Hei Tong had gotten her way, Ye Wenxin could only force a smile. She watched as Hei Tong excitedly took the bag of holding and left, even abandoning her beloved demonic beast meat.
Not wanting to waste food, Ye Wenxin remained seated and continued eating. She then noticed Fatty and the guys quietly approaching from afar, giving her suggestive looks and winking at her.
“You guys have facial nerve paralysis, making faces at me like that? Want me to administer some acupuncture?” a doubtful Ye Wenxin asked, and for some reason the guys immediately waved their hands upon mention of ‘acupuncture’.
“No, Big Sister, we’re just hinting at you that we absolutely won’t snitch about this to Sister-in-law.”
Ye Wenxin was both annoyed and amused, finally realizing her sexual orientation had entirely been misunderstood.
In all honesty, despite her joking with Xiao Zhang, she did not have the slightest notion towards the woman. Let alone Hei Tong, that brat spirit beast with the IQ of a ten-year-old, Ye Wenxin would never develop any inclination towards her unless she was blind.
But the truth would only become increasingly distorted with each explanation. Ye Wenxin simply chose not to say anything and chatted with Gu Aotian when he returned, conveniently washing away the suspicions of being a womanizer.
The surrounding gazes became even more piercing as Gu Aotian’s whole face flushed with embarrassment. Ye Wenxin observed with satisfaction and left the dining hall after finishing her meal, having firmly established the enmity.
There were no classes in the afternoon, Long Qing’er had begun her closed door training, and Ye Wenxin was in no mood to go find Ling Jue, so she decided to check on Huang Hanyan’s situation instead. However, to her surprise, she found out that Huang Hanyan also started closed door training after hearing about Long Qing’er.
Ye Wenxin felt even more bored, but did not want to disturb Gu Xiangsi’s cultivation. Instead, she stealthily sneaked away to the backwoods to see how Fairy Fengya was doing.
The backwoods remained large and expansive as usual. Ye Wenxin took out Hei Tong’s feather and infused it with her Qi. The feather immediately hovered in the air, guiding Ye Wenxin to seek out Fairy Fengya’s dwelling.
Over an hour passed like this until Ye Wenxin came to the side of a waterfall. The feather paused here for a bit then flew up the waterfall, at last stopping in mid-air.
Seeing this, Ye Wenxin had already realized that she had arrived at her destination, but she did not anticipate Fairy Fengya would actually be hiding behind the waterfall.
However, this place was indeed very convenient, as it could cover up one’s scent. But rather than Fairy Fengya’s way of thinking, Ye Wenxin admired Hei Tong’s mobility much more, that she could even discover this kind of location.
But only the heavens knew of the effort Ye Wenxin put into playing the role of a person with low cultivation.
Step by step… she even had to pretend to be out of breath…
Ye Wenxin grumbled inwardly. Although she did not want to pretend at all, she had felt the gaze around her since a while ago. Absent any unforeseen developments, the person staring at her should be Fairy Fengya.
Therefore, Ye Wenxin’s acting had to be more convincing. She continued to crawl upward, also showcasing her PUBG acting skills. She accidentally slipped at one point and thought Fairy Fengya might appear out of pity for her, but even when she was on the verge of falling, Fairy Fengya remained motionless.
Ye Wenxin had no choice but to use a dagger to stab into the rocks, and then silently kept climbing up. This time, she was clever, no longer tormenting herself by feigning injury.
An uncertain amount of time passed, the sky had darkened, and she finally climbed halfway up the mountain, discovering the location of the cave entrance.
The cave entrance looked fresh, with the surrounding soil appearing recently disturbed, which led Ye Wenxin to suspect whether Fairy Fengya had specially dug out this cave for closed door training.
“Hello, School Master Fengya, you there?” Ye Wenxin called out Fairy Fengya’s name, but apart from the echo inside the cave, there was no sign of anyone.
However, Ye Wenxin was certain she could smell Fairy Fengya’s scent, that unique and unmatched fragrance. Ye Wenxin thought it was possible that Fairy Fengya did not want to see her, so she deliberately hid.
“Sigh.” Ye Wenxin pretended to feel disappointed, then plopped herself down on the ground, looking at the cascading water outside, feigning a look of extreme disappointment. However, deep down, Ye Wenxin was actually delighted; she could sense that gaze had not left her, just observing her every move.
Perhaps due to her strange behavior, Fairy Fengya had become wary of her and thus was observing her like this. Understanding the connection, Ye Wenxin continued to sit there. She was still wearing the outer disciple’s clothes, and the cold wind from the entrance was blowing inside. She hugged herself tightly, then quietly ate a Calming Pill and fell into a deep sleep.
In her dreams, she felt that familiar fragrance approaching, and then something was placed over her.
That scent surprisingly gave Ye Wenxin an illusion of safety.
Without opening her eyes, Ye Wenxin knew that Fairy Fengya was beside her, gazing at her, as if making some sort of mental preparation.
However, Fairy Fengya did not say anything. After watching Ye Wenxin for a while, she started a fire.
Making good use of the warmth, Ye Wenxin pretended to wake from her dreams, and then was met with Fairy Fengya sitting opposite her. She looked as indifferent as ever, her body emanating an indescribable celestial aura.
“Has a fairy descended to the world?” Ye Wenxin flattered suddenly. Fairy Fengya showed no other expression, as if nothing could shake the barrier in her heart.
There was no happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy, yet it was impossible to look away from her.
Her reputation as the world’s number one beauty was seriously well-deserved.
Ye Wenxin sighed inwardly, feeling inferior in the face of Fairy Fengya’s beauty. She had complicated emotions toward Fairy Fengya, with hatred making up ninety percent of them.
But ever since Huang Hanyan revealed what her goddaughter Liu Churan had been doing behind her back, that hatred decreased to eighty percent.
It was still hatred, but hatred towards herself who could not compare to Fairy Fengya.
“School Master…Fengya?” Ye Wenxin got up and moved a little closer to Fairy Fengya.
Fairy Fengya did not look at her, only staring intently at the campfire before her. She seemed to be living in her own world, giving Ye Wenxin the persistent feeling that she was actually autistic.
Despite not being a mute, it seemed she did not enjoy talking, and even showed great lack of regard towards people.
“It’s really you, School Master Fengya. I’ve been looking for you for so long.” Ye Wenxin pretended to be very happy as she walked over, but Fairy Fengya still did not even glance at her. Her eyes were fixed solely on the fire in front of her, devoid of any color.
“School Master Fengya, you haven’t gone into Qi Deviation again, have you?” Ye Wenxin looked displeased as she approached and began to take Fairy Fengya’s pulse, pulling her arm close.
Fairy Fengya still did not resist, whether because she found Ye Wenxin completely harmless or because she simply did not care about being touched by others.
“Fortunately, it seems you’ve been obedient lately. Your pulse is much calmer.” Taking her pulse, Ye Wenxin felt somewhat relieved. Despite being a leveling maniac, Fairy Fengya was not entirely foolish.
But even as she felt relieved, she also sensed something amiss. Clearly, it would have been better if Fairy Fengya had died, yet she found herself inexplicably relieved that Fairy Fengya had not.
What was infuriating was that no matter what Ye Wenxin said, Fairy Fengya remained aloof. After holding her hand for too long, Fairy Fengya even withdrew her own arm.
Ye Wenxin took a light sniff and found her own hand fragrant. It seemed that Fairy Fengya noticed this action, her eyes staring straight at Ye Wenxin, making her feel even more embarrassed.
“By the way, this is a spirit wine brewed in my hometown. It has a restraining effect on your Qi Deviation. Consider it a gift from me.” Ye Wenxin realized she could not continue the conversation, so she simply took out a bottle of spirit wine and decided to leave for the day.
Although Fairy Fengya was her ultimate goal, talking to a piece of wood was just boring. Just as Ye Wenxin was thinking about how to jump down from the cave, she finally heard Fairy Fengya’s voice behind her.
“You came just to deliver this?”
Ye Wenxin was somewhat surprised. Turning around, she saw that Fairy Fengya had already uncapped the bottle, the aroma of wine wafting out. It seemed that Fairy Fengya had already taken a sip.
“Yeah, what else could I possibly need from you?” Ye Wenxin finally responded, but she had no intention of walking over.
Fairy Fengya fell silent again, taking another sip of the spirit wine and slowly savoring the sensory feast it brought.
This was one of Liu Churan’s masterpieces, with both taste and medicinal effects beyond doubt. Yet, Ye Wenxin found Fairy Fengya’s behavior too strange; it was the first time she had seen someone drink so gracefully.
Not only graceful, but it seemed that the spirit wine had acquired a peculiar allure, tempting Ye Wenxin to taste whether it was as sweet as Fairy Fengya made it seem.
That allure had reached a level of natural perfection, it would appeal to anyone regardless of their gender.
Ye Wenxin hastily pinched herself to regain her sanity, “Well then, School Master Fengya, I’ll take my leave.” She really did not want to stay with Fairy Fengya any longer. Just as she was about to jump down to clear her mind, she felt a force grabbing her collar.
Looking again, she found herself suspended in mid-air, with Fairy Fengya’s delicate hand lightly holding onto her collar.
This odd scene made Ye Wenxin feel like she had turned into a kitten or a puppy.
“Is there something else?” Ye Wenxin forced a smile, trying hard to remain calm, but Fairy Fengya completely disregarded her emotional state and lifted her up again.
But even after setting her down, Fairy Fengya remained silent, just staring intently at Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin was even more speechless. She had no idea why Fairy Fengya had pulled her back. It was almost time for her roommate Baili Mu to enforce their agreed-upon curfew. If she did not go back soon, she would really have to sacrifice her beauty sleep and sleep with Xiao Zhang.
As Ye Wenxin pondered, Fairy Fengya still said nothing, just lightly caressing the necklace hanging around her neck.
Upon closer inspection, Ye Wenxin noticed that there were now two pendants on Fairy Fengya’s necklace. And one of them was the same necklace she had previously given to Fairy Fengya.
