Chapter 88: Breaking Up One Pair at A Time (Eighth Update)
“Ah, I don’t really like those basic courses, I just want to live a simpler life.” Ye Wenxin had to forcefully steer the conversation back to its original topic, but after a pause, she added, “I sincerely think you’re beautiful.”
Upon hearing this, an involuntary hint of a smile escaped Xiao Zhang’s normally serious expression. She had heard many compliments before, but for some reason, Ye Wenxin’s praise made her feel genuinely happy.
Clearly, she was just a mischievous child who had not grown up yet, but there was a mysterious attractive force about her. Xiao Zhang looked into her eyes, black and pretty, but upon closer inspection, they seemed bottomless, with no end in sight.
Xiao Zhang’s heart skipped a beat, unsure if it was the enchanting moonlight or if she was actually feeling a flutter of emotions.
Perhaps it was the faint sounds of male and female voices in her ears that caused ripples in her heart. Regardless, on this night, with this breeze, and this scenery, she could not seem to calm down.
Xiao Zhang gripped the railing of the stone bridge tightly, and after a while, she finally uttered a sentence.
“I have to go.”
“I know,” Ye Wenxin replied very coolly, her preparations already made.
Xiao Zhang might seem promiscuous, but in reality, her character was very serious, which was why she could achieve the position of Deputy Commander at the age of thirty. With such talent, one could only wonder how good it would have been if the woman had been her subordinate.
Ye Wenxin admired Xiao Zhang’s loyalty, but also resented it, as once she chose a master, she was bound to them for life. And Ye Wenxin was not the chosen one; she was the one abandoned.
“You seem really calm. I just told Fatty and the others, they all seemed to have sand in their eyes.” Xiao Zhang recalled bidding farewell to the group just now, those little brothers following Ye Wenxin were all good kids, just like their Big Sister.
Unfortunately, Xiao Zhang’s true farewell was only to Ye Wenxin.
She went to find Ye Wenxin, only to see her with the world-renowned Young Master Ling Jue. Xiao Zhang retreated, even feeling a bit inferior.
As a woman, developing feelings for another woman seemed too strange. She dared not explore further, fearing she might not be able to resist flying into the flame like a moth.
So, Xiao Zhang declined the Eldest Princess’s proposal to continue resting for a while and resolutely decided to forget these feelings after bidding farewell.
Ye Wenxin was just the straw she grasped at in her most desperate moment, and that feeling was by no means love.
However, seeing Ye Wenxin’s calmness about her departure made Xiao Zhang very uncomfortable.
These conflicting emotions brewed in her mind, ultimately pouring into one look.
However, Ye Wenxin seemed not to notice. Perhaps it was because of her youth, or perhaps Ye Wenxin was just as lost as she was.
“I told them, even if they were sad, not to cry in front of you,” Ye Wenxin indeed noticed, feeling perplexed and even more reluctant to part. Most importantly, she respected Xiao Zhang’s choice.
“I was wondering why Fatty was crying like that and still said he got sand in his eyes.” Xiao Zhang remembered Fatty’s reaction at the time, finally understanding that each of them seemed prepared for the farewell. But when it came time to part, no one vented their emotions strongly.
It turned out Ye Wenxin had thought of an answer beforehand.
She did indeed have a rebirth, but she broke the promise to stay by Ye Wenxin’s side. However, Ye Wenxin neither cried nor made a fuss, which made Xiao Zhang feel even more sorry.
“If I had known earlier… Oh, I forgot to take the formula!” Ye Wenxin remembered her conversation with Ling Jue and forgot about the third-grade pill formula.
She made a wry smile, and the sadness that had been brewing just now disappeared. Seeing Ye Wenxin like this, Xiao Zhang once again felt how truly foolish she was.
She was just a child after all; why would she need to think about such complicated matters?
“Wenxin, do you want to try something more adult?” Xiao Zhang smiled, her smile making the moonlight lose its color. She was dressed so beautifully, with even a hint of rouge, trying to show her most beautiful side to Ye Wenxin.
This was Xiao Zhang’s first attempt at seduction, and she was very nervous, afraid that she would appear too flustered and lose her composure as an adult.
“Something more adult?” Ye Wenxin felt uneasy at the mention of those words. She glanced at Xiao Zhang’s attire several times, and her mind recalled the wrestling books she had seen a few days ago.
“Xiao Zhang, I’m just a child.”
She knew not how many times she had said this to Xiao Zhang, but this time Xiao Zhang’s eyes held a hint of seriousness. With such malicious intent, in such a romantic setting, especially at a place where Dao couples loved to rendezvous, Ye Wenxin felt her luck might be running out.
“Xiao Zhang, are you serious?” Ye Wenxin quietly reached for her silver needle. If Xiao Zhang did not behave herself, she would let the woman have a good sleep in this deserted place.
Whether it was as the Demon Sovereign Gu Qingcheng or as Ye Wenxin, being seduced was absolutely unacceptable.
“When have I not been serious?” Xiao Zhang answered in such a way instead, with a playful expression in her eyes, a little shy, a little lovely.
She advanced, while Ye Wenxin retreated. The road was not long, but it felt endless.
“Don’t be afraid, I know it’s your first time, I’ll be very gentle.” Xiao Zhang’s smile became even brighter, and she licked her lips, revealing a devilish expression.
It seemed like she wanted to devour Ye Wenxin whole, but Ye Wenxin understood Xiao Zhang’s character. Despite her antics, she was definitely a pure-hearted woman. Perhaps she was just teasing Ye Wenxin, seeing as they were parting.
“Do you need me to transform into Ye Liangchen? With a beauty like you, of course, you need a handsome man like my master,” Ye Wenxin joked back. Now that Xiao Zhang had the height advantage, Ye Wenxin felt quite annoyed.
If only she were a bit taller, she could kabedon Xiao Zhang and maybe trigger some unexpected developments.
“No need. Ever since I found out that face belongs to your master, it feels weird to see it. It’s better like this. I can hold you just right,” Xiao Zhang said, quickly stepping forward to embrace Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin smelled the faint fragrance of a woman on Xiao Zhang’s body and felt the strange sensation brought by those voluptuous curves. Xiao Zhang lifted her chin, the playfulness in her eyes becoming even more apparent.
Seeing this, Ye Wenxin already knew it was a joke and relaxed.
After all, there was no other existence in this world quite like her goddaughter Liu Churan, who was such a yandere.
Ye Wenxin’s reaction bored Xiao Zhang, but she still did not let go. She held Ye Wenxin’s waist, feeling how slender it was.
Not just her waist, even her shoulders, Ye Wenxin looked like she had not been eating enough, which made Xiao Zhang feel sorry for her.
“You’re too skinny. I left some spirit stones for you, and you’ve earned quite a bit yourself. Why haven’t you gotten extra meals in the dining hall?” Xiao Zhang felt really distressed. The more she thought about it, the more she worried about Ye Wenxin’s life in the Azure Wings Sect.
At only thirteen years old, orphaned with no parents, while Xiao Zhang at least had a happy childhood. Pity, heartache, and various emotions intertwined, her inner struggle persisted.
“I just can’t gain weight. I actually eat super well every day.” Ye Wenxin resisted being hugged so tightly by Xiao Zhang, feeling as if the embrace was trying to engulf her.
“Oh, I see. Can I hug you more then… No, wait, I’m already hugging you.” Realizing the inconsistency between her words and actions, Xiao Zhang felt embarrassed.
“Hug away, it’s the last day anyway,” Ye Wenxin responded nonchalantly, even reaching out to wrap her arm around Xiao Zhang’s waist.
Xiao Zhang’s waist was also very slender, yet holding her felt oddly comfortable.
“Xiao Zhang, have you gained weight?”
“Wenxin, what did you just say?” Xiao Zhang gave a faint smile, the kind of smile that seemed capable of killing. Ye Wenxin could only shut her mouth. She simply wanted to tell Xiao Zhang how comfortable her hug felt, that it was a sign of good health, but it seemed she was completely misunderstood.
“I really did gain a bit of weight lately though.” However, now that Ye Wenxin mentioned it, Xiao Zhang turned self-conscious, grabbed Ye Wenxin’s hands and moved them downwards.
“It’s not chubby here, touch it.”
“Xiao Zhang, you’ve changed.” Ye Wenxin’s face turned pink, unable to shake the feeling that Xiao Zhang had become naughty.
Being held by the waist used to be Xiao Zhang’s limit, yet now she surprisingly made Ye Wenxin grope her butt.
“But my dear Xiao Zhang, it’d be hard for you to bear any future children with this butt.” And as usual, Ye Wenxin adjusted to the atmosphere, trying to make their parting more lighthearted and pleasant.
“Wenxin, you better shut your mouth!” Xiao Zhang really got somewhat angry, her stirring emotions and sadness entirely washed away by Ye Wenxin’s sharp tongue.
Now, all she wanted to do was give Ye Wenxin’s little noggin a few smacks, to see if she could knock some sense back into the girl.
“Mm.” Ye Wenxin actually fell silent, and Xiao Zhang finally breathed a sigh of relief, holding Ye Wenxin tightly.
The increasing sounds of wrestling around them seemed to echo, as if not allowing the two of them a proper moment of farewell.
“Wenxin, how about I take you to do something fun?” Xiao Zhang still had a smile on her face, but it looked more like she wanted to murder someone. Ye Wenxin found this description strange, and then saw Xiao Zhang take out several pills from her bag of holding.
They were black in color and looked very peculiar.
“What are these?” Ye Wenxin was seeing such unique pills for the first time and could not hold back from asking Xiao Zhang about their purpose.
“These pills are called Paralysis Powder, specially tailored for Dao couples.” Hearing this explanation, Ye Wenxin already understood Xiao Zhang’s intentions. She intended to throw these pills at Dao couples, killing off one pair at a time.
“Xiao Zhang, you’re truly too…too awesome.” Ye Wenxin also smirked. For someone who remained a single dog in two lifetimes, Xiao Zhang’s approach was just satisfying.
“Of course, don’t forget I’m still your master.”
“Just to be clear, that’s the only thing I won’t acknowledge,” Ye Wenxin immediately retorted, but she had already picked up a Paralysic Powder and threw it towards a distant spot where voices could be heard.
Xiao Zhang was not to be outdone. The two ran around in this sacred ground of tryst, putting a stop to the noisy sounds, leaving only anguished wailing in their wake.
