Chapter 935: I Became Overconfident!
Ye Wenxin watched as the girl failed to dissuade him, got angry, and left. Meanwhile, Young Master Lü obliviously continued to paint with focused intensity.
Ye Wenxin grew bored. Since Han Shanxue had no intention of leaving, she decided to wander around and explore the surroundings of Six Academy.
The academy was like a massive hub.
Some people composed poetry, others played music or painted. Ye Wenxin also spotted someone refining pills in the distance. Unfortunately, that person just fumbled around until their furnace exploded, nearly costing them their life.
At noon, Ye Wenxin went to find Young Master Lü to discuss lunch plans. But on her way back, she saw a large crowd had gathered where she had been earlier.
Curious, she walked over. She saw Fei Chai and the others had already returned, while Han Shanxue was sparring with a man. Ye Wenxin immediately slipped to Young Master Lü’s side to watch her swordsmanship up close.
Han Shanxue’s sword style was brutal. She had even grasped the concept of Sword Intent. Her opponent was a Nascent Soul-stage expert. Yet, despite only being at the Golden Core Stage, she completely overwhelmed him.
Pulling off such a feat relied heavily on one’s techniques and cultivation methods. Since Han Shanxue had taken over another’s body, it was only natural that what she had learned surpassed others.
Ye Wenxin thought that this sword technique seemed oddly familiar.
Although she had excellent memory, she couldn’t recall when or where she’d seen it. It was a subconscious sense of recognition.
The duel’s outcome inevitably leaned in Han Shanxue’s favor. However, if the fight dragged on, she probably wouldn’t be able to hold out for much longer.
Cultivators generally fell into a few categories.
One type focused on defense and could take a serious beating.
Another specialized in endurance—not strong in attack, but well-balanced in offense and defense.
Then, there were the explosive types like Han Shanxue. They lacked staying power and could quickly find themselves in trouble when facing a string of opponents.
Right now, Han Shanxue ran low on qi. Even though her expression didn’t change, Ye Wenxin could sense the instability in her qi.
Although eager to see more of Han Shanxue’s techniques, she remembered her goal of staying on good terms with the female lead.
Ye Wenxin stepped closer to Han Shanxue and whispered, “Let me take over from here.”
Han Shanxue’s expression remained unreadable, but she nodded. Their opponent also switched to a Golden Core-stage cultivator. Seeing that his new opponent was just a maid, he laughed boisterously.
“Fang Lü, these are the experts you spent a thousand spirit stones on? Hahaha, this girl doesn’t even look sixteen!”
Fang Lü’s romantic rival, Yu Xian, looked down on a seemingly young girl like Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin was used to this kind of reaction. She smiled faintly and politely gestured for her opponent to make the first move.
The burly man looked at Ye Wenxin’s fragile appearance, flexed his muscles, and sneered.
“Little girl, I’ll let you do ten moves.”
Ye Wenxin’s eyes shone. “Really?”
Her unexpected reaction threw the man off. He had assumed his words would anger Ye Wenxin. Instead, she looked delighted.
“Then I’ll finish you off in one.”
Without giving the burly man a chance for more trash talk, Ye Wenxin launched into the Azure Wings Sect’s basic sword technique. Eight differently colored swords appeared again, and the man froze. One sword shot toward him, slamming him straight into the iceberg in the nearby lake.
“Well, I still have seven swords left. How many more underlings have you got, young master?” Ye Wenxin winked at Yu Xian. After Liu Churan stopped clinging to her, she started feeling overconfident. She wanted to show off her ability to torment others.
“You—!” Yu Xian was livid. But when he turned to look at his men, not one dared step forward after witnessing the brute’s miserable defeat.
“Fine! You win this time! But I’m not giving up on Lady Yue!” Yu Xian saw he had no chance today, gave a curt nod, and stormed off in frustration.
The Six Academy gradually returned to its usual calm. In high spirits, Young Master Lü treated everyone to a meal at a restaurant. Unfortunately, the woman he admired hadn’t appeared. But since Yu Xian wasn’t done causing trouble, Ye Wenxin wasn’t in any hurry either.
Besides, there was still a week before the Golden Age Dynasty’s recruitment event.
Meanwhile, the peach blossom demon’s overwhelming charm and lack of self-defense had caused her to be targeted and abducted seven times.
Those captors, men and women alike, further delayed Liu Churan and the peach blossom demon.
When Ye Wenxin received Sword Ghost’s report, she nearly died laughing. Even so, she told Sword Ghost to keep monitoring the situation and wouldn’t call her back for now.
……
The next day arrived. Young Master Lü painted at the lake again, waiting for that mysterious young woman to appear.
Ye Wenxin had lost interest in wandering around. To make things worse, Ghost Mother had switched back to female attire and constantly flaunted herself.
Ye Wenxin seriously questioned whether Ghost Mother found her caring, gentle demeanor unsettling because she had broken her.
She didn’t care about the obnoxious behavior as long as Ghost Mother wasn’t two-timing her. When she saw Ghost Mother tricking a fourth person into jumping into the lake to catch fish, Ye Wenxin finally felt sorry for them and called her back.
“Master, what is it?” Ghost Mother asked delightedly. She thought all her antics over the day had finally gotten through Ye Wenxin’s thick skull. Her joy was so intense that her eyes emitted a faint green glow, and she almost couldn’t suppress her ghostly nature.
“I’m sleepy. Let me lean on you,” Ye Wenxin replied casually, leaning toward Ghost Mother.
Ghost Mother’s face turned pink, but she let Ye Wenxin rest on her lap.
Usually, the furballs acted as Ye Wenxin’s pillows when she napped. She had always disliked how uncomfortable it was to sleep against Ghost Mother’s cold body. So, the unexpected approach made Ghost Mother think Ye Wenxin was finally making a move.
Unfortunately for her, Ye Wenxin hadn’t thought that at all. She didn’t want Ghost Mother getting too flirty and making a mess that she’d have to clean up.
Besides, Ghost Mother’s natural coolness felt pleasant in the hot weather. Ye Wenxin had only intended to lie down briefly, but as she lay there, she couldn’t resist the pull of sleep.
Even though part of her worried Ghost Mother might try something while she was asleep, it was just too comfortable. Ye Wenxin snuggled in a little closer.
“Mmm… Master, stop…”
Ghost Mother mistook Ye Wenxin’s subtle movements for teasing. She hadn’t been intimate with her in a long time and was starting to lose it.
But she soon realized her voice failed to elicit any response. Annoyed, she turned Ye Wenxin’s face toward her and finally noticed Ye Wenxin was sound asleep.
