Chapter 984: Wenxin Chases a Dream

Ye Wenxin mentally filed in Han Shanxue’s mood before walking in.

She didn’t lock the door.

Han Shanxue noticed and reminded her, “Lock it.”

Ye Wenxin reluctantly did so, then slowly sat on the bed and pulled out the worn copy of Fenghua Xueyue’s manual.

This technique wasn’t hard, yet it wasn’t easy either. Unlike Flower Burial, which consumed blood, Fenghua Xueyue relied on intricate hand gestures. Each finger movement produced a petal, and the practitioner could create petals with different elemental attributes simultaneously.

But that was an advanced spell. Ye Wenxin had to start from the most basic—producing fire.

However, maybe because she wasn’t using Long Qingyue’s body, Ye Wenxin struggled to produce fire.

Her face flushed from strain, a tiny spark at her fingertip. If her focus slipped even slightly, the spark would vanish. It was ten times more difficult than when she learned Flower Burial. She already had a solid foundation in the technique. It shouldn’t have been this hard.

Growing suspicious, Ye Wenxin glanced at the meditating Han Shanxue.

Han Shanxue had removed her veil, revealing a face as flawlessly pure as a snow lotus. Ye Wenxin wondered if she had always looked like this. Or maybe she transformed after possessing that body, and the drastic change forced her to wear a veil.

Ye Wenxin was curious about Han Shanxue. Not in a lustful way, though. She’d touched and kissed plenty of women more beautiful than her. No, what interested Ye Wenxin more was how many manuals she could pull from this ice-cold beauty.

Perhaps her gaze was too intense. Han Shanxue finally stopped meditating and looked her way.

Ye Wenxin met her icy eyes. A chill washed over her, extinguishing any desire she might have had.

So, Han Shanxue’s unique cultivation technique could suppress emotion as well. Ye Wenxin planned to trick her into handing over Tundra Demesne, too, if possible. After all, she wasn’t about to lose out after formally kneeling and becoming her disciple.

Shortening the distance between them, Ye Wenxin released another tiny spark. “Master, why is my fire so small?”

Han Shanxue glanced over, then casually raised one hand and activated Fenghua Xueyue. A tabletop-sized flame materialized in seconds, lazily spinning, radiating intense heat. It looked so powerful that Ye Wenxin seriously considered using the flame to refine pills.

But Han Shanxue only gave a brief demonstration before withdrawing the flame and resuming her meditation. She had offered no explanation or guidance.

It became clear to Ye Wenxin that this genius didn’t know how to teach.

Left to her own devices, she could only recall and analyze Han Shanxue’s movements. Eventually, she understood the issue. The Cherished Flower Scroll had a specific order. She should’ve learned Flower Burial last. Instead, Ye Wenxin had jumped straight into it without laying the proper foundation, which led to her Qi Deviation in the past.

Now, this body had already become accustomed to channeling Flower Burial. So when she tried using Fenghua Xueyue, her body instinctively mixed in Flower Burial, causing the technique to fail.

Long Qingyue, on the other hand, had never learned Flower Burial, so her clean slate made learning Fenghua Xueyue much easier.

Having figured out the problem, Ye Wenxin’s only option was to work on breaking her old habits and retrain her body to adapt to Fenghua Xueyue.

……

Time passed in a flash. It was midnight by the time Ye Wenxin finally produced a palm-sized flame. Remembering that Han Shanxue was still in her room, she turned to share her success, only to find Han Shanxue breathing steadily.

She seemed to have fallen asleep in her meditative pose.

Considering Han Shanxue’s unique constitution, Ye Wenxin didn’t disturb her. She washed her face and went to bed.

The room’s temperature kept shifting between hot and cold. Suddenly, a freezing chill jerked Ye Wenxin awake, and she opened her eyes to see her room encased in ice.

Han Shanxue had unconsciously released her frost aura, plunging the room into an ice age.

“Master?” Ye Wenxin tried to wake Han Shanxue.

But as she drew closer, she realized Han Shanxue had entered a state of suspended animation. Ice and snow were her natural defenses, yet they spiraled out of control while she slept.

Han Shanxue didn’t respond to Ye Wenxin’s voice. The air grew colder still, and frost crept along the windows, threatening to seal off the entire room. Her brows were furrowed, her fists clenched, and she murmured something under her breath.

Ye Wenxin leaned in and caught the title “Master’s Wife.”

She wasn’t calling for her master but for her master’s lover. Ye Wenxin’s mind raced, imagining what untold stories existed between Han Shanxue and Immortal Lord Taohua.

Her interest grew. She might not have mind-reading anymore, but she did have White.

“White, are you there?” Ye Wenxin summoned the white furball.

Within seconds, White emerged from the frozen floor, delighted that Ye Wenxin had called only her.

Ye Wenxin patted White’s head with a smile. “White, I want to enter Han Shanxue’s dream. Can you help?”

White glanced at Han Shanxue before calling over the other furballs and transforming into Liuli.

Ye Wenxin looked a bit surprised at the choice. “Is entering her dream that difficult?”

“Yes, Master.” Liuli nodded, taking Ye Wenxin’s hand. “Her mental defenses are too strong. White alone can’t manage it.”

Ye Wenxin raised a brow. Not even Fairy Fengya had been this extreme. “Then why was it fine when we entered Fairy Fengya’s mind?”

Liuli gave her a puzzled look. “Sister Fengya didn’t have her guard up against you.”

Ye Wenxin paused. She hadn’t known that illusions worked this way.

“The closer the bond, the less guarded someone is. Sister Fengya may seem indifferent, but she holds a place for you in her heart. Sister Xue is different. She doesn’t trust you.”

Hearing that Fairy Fengya harbored some fondness for her, Ye Wenxin felt inexplicable joy.

Perhaps she was proud to have the favor of the world’s most beautiful woman. Or she’d long had some indescribable feelings toward Fairy Fengya. However, they always vanished too quickly, leaving her unsure of how she truly felt.

Seeing Ye Wenxin now understood her point, Liuli hugged her from behind.

“Master, I’ll carry you in.”
