Chapter 1 First Encounter

It was the middle of winter, and a heavy snow had just fallen. The village was terribly cold.

In the distance, the setting sun had long been blown away by the north wind. The common people who could go home were busy going home, accumulating the pitiful amount of heat in the tightly closed doors.

Su Huai had just come out of the courtyard when he was startled by the north wind and tucked his hands into his sleeves. A man followed behind him, smiling naively, his mouth almost grinning to his ears, and patted Su Huai’s shoulder warmly.

 “Doctor Su! Thanks to you! It’s the New Year, and all the midwives have gone back to their hometowns. How could my wife be so bad at choosing the right time to give birth! She always causes trouble for others!” 

After scolding him, the man put a bag of red-skinned eggs into Su Huai’s arms, and brought two live chickens and a big pig’s head: “Doctor Su, my family is poor and there is nothing good to give. Take these things back and eat them! Don’t think we are shabby!” 

Shihe Town is not a big town, and the supplies are not abundant. Ordinary people only have meat during the New Year and festivals. Two chickens and a pig’s head are enough for a family to have a good New Year. 

Su Huai is just a small doctor, treating minor illnesses such as headaches and fevers. Everyone in the village knows that it is difficult to give birth to a baby. Most of the first babies die, and he, a small doctor, can’t do anything. 

The birth of the Li family’s son went so smoothly this time, all because of the child’s good health. I really didn’t help much, just shouted a few words “try harder”. He didn’t even ask for the medical fee, how could he accept other people’s things! 

Seeing this, Su Huai hurriedly refused a few times, and finally couldn’t resist the other person’s enthusiasm, so he had to accept the bag of red eggs and a rooster, and the eldest brother of the Li family gave up. When Su Huai left, it was almost dark, and the increasingly cold wind made him speed up his pace. 

When he arrived at the door of his house, it was really dark. He couldn’t see clearly under his feet. Su Huai was tripped by something and stumbled. He turned his head and took advantage of the slightly hazy sky to barely see a dark mass in the snow. Su Huai took two steps forward, bent down and looked carefully, as if something was buried in the snow. Su Huai hurriedly put the things aside, and started to dig the snow. In a few strokes, he actually dug out a human figure! 

Su Huai was shocked and quickly hugged the man’s waist, turned him over, reached out to clean the snow on his face, and patted him twice.

“Little brother! Wake up!”

It seemed that the man had been buried in the snow for some time, his face was red from the cold, and Su Huai felt the cold penetrate his clothes while hugging him. Fortunately, the man was still breathing, and Su Huai had no time to think about it. He quickly helped the man up and dragged him to his room.

Other people have a son during the Chinese New Year, why am I so unlucky, picking up a beggar during the Chinese New Year!

While complaining in his heart, his hands were nimble, and he quickly carried the man to his bed. The weight, which was slightly lighter than that of an average man, surprised Su Huai a little.

This man was obviously frozen stiff, and he must not warm himself by the fire, otherwise his flesh would fall off.  Su Huai first took off his wet clothes, wrapped him in his own quilt, then quickly lit the fire, and brought the brazier to the foot of the bed. Then he turned around to help the man rub his frozen hands and feet, while kneading, he looked at the beggar.

It would have been better if he hadn’t looked at him. When he saw him, Su Huai’s face immediately sank. He stopped moving his hands, stood up and looked at the heavy snow outside the door, then turned his head expressionlessly and looked at the person on the bed again. He repeated this several times, and suddenly leaned over and picked up the beggar, and walked out the door quickly.

When Lu Yuan woke up, he was frightened by the slightly white neck in front of him and the collarbone hidden in the lapel. The first jump was that he was leaning on a man’s chest and being hugged by someone; the second jump was that this man, damn, was actually a psychopath wearing an ancient costume!

 As a 28-year-old mature man with normal thinking, Lu Yuan’s first reaction was that he was kidnapped by a psychopath!

“You…you let me go!” Although he was a doctor, he was the director of the obstetrics and gynecology department. He had forgotten his knowledge of psychiatry since he graduated from college. Apart from making such a harmless threat, Lu Yuan really didn’t know how to appease a madman.

“I…” Lu Yuan was already frozen stiff, and even his face was stiff at this moment. He deeply understood that he could not understand the logic of the madman with his normal thinking. The corners of his mouth twitched, and then he squeezed out a sentence: “I… I am not a bad person…”

At this moment, Lu Yuan suddenly began to think of those buddies who studied psychiatry in college.

Su Huai looked at Lu Yuan’s innocent eyes, and felt that he was trembling in his arms. Finally, he turned around and hugged him back to the bed. It was not because of softness, but Su Huai suddenly realized that if this kid was really a troublemaker, it would be better to throw him out at night to cover it up.

 “What’s wrong with your injuries?” Su Huai spoke as soon as Lu Yuan’s butt touched the bed. The defensive look on his face made Lu Yuan feel uncomfortable all over. He felt that this madman had seen through his body.

“What injuries…” Lu Yuan frowned and lowered his head, and was immediately stunned. He was flustered just now, and now he noticed that he was wrapped naked in the quilt. In addition to frostbite, his skin was covered with willow-like knife wounds, which were densely wounded and scary.

“You…you…” Lu Yuan felt a chill on his back. When he had a tumor and had surgery to remove it, he was not as horrified as he was now. His eyes swept over Su Huai’s face again and again.

How could a person who looked innocent be a madman! And a perverted masochist, not only stripping his clothes, but also making himself like this!

 It’s over now. The phone is still in his pocket. He can’t call the police to save himself…

“I’m a doctor. I’ve been educated and have seen the world. I can recognize the scars on your body! This is clearly the punishment of the court for incest, called willow leaf cutting. The criminal is tied into a pig cage nearly one person high, and then tied with a rope, and thrown into the river to drown the person. The inside of the pig cage is covered with small blades. This person is really crazy!

 Lu Yuan listened to Su Huai’s words and became more desperate. He shook his head helplessly: “Alas… Even if I am a criminal, you have already harbored me. Do you think you can still clear yourself?”

He had already broken the jar and was talking incoherently with the madman. His eyes slowly swept across the small room, thinking about how to escape. The madman was silent for a while because of his words. This brief silence made Lu Yuan’s thoughts clear. In his eyes were mottled brick walls, quaint furniture, and patched mattresses… Lu Yuan suddenly felt that something very important seemed to be ignored by himself.

Suddenly, a shadow covered his eyes. Lu Yuan dodged back suddenly and saw Su Huai’s enlarged cold face.

“Let’s go! I’ll take you to the yamen now!”

“What…what?” His wrist was grabbed by the madman. He didn’t know if the madman was born with brute force. Lu Yuan was a 1.8-meter-tall strong man but he couldn’t break free.

 1.8 meters…

At this moment, Lu Yuan felt that his head was hit hard by something, and he felt dizzy. A slightly weak, slender arm full of scars was reflected in his eyes…

This is definitely not his body!

A strange room, a strange madman, a completely unfamiliar body, and he couldn’t remember how he got here… This was just like an absurd dream!

After taking a few deep breaths, Lu Yuan bit his arm hard, and felt a sharp pain. There was some blood in his mouth. Lu Yuan blinked hard. The madman was still the madman, the only difference was that his expression was a little confused because of his self-mutilation.
