Chapter 15: Partnership

Zhang Qiyao stood up from the sofa, tossed the remote control aside, and spoke with a hint of excitement.

“I, I, I, Yanyan, I’ll go with you! I have nothing going on lately anyway!”

Zhang Qiyao majored in Business Administration in college, but her brother handled the family business, so she didn’t have any intention of inheriting it. She just learned a little bit so she could impress people when needed. Her parents didn’t demand anything specific from her, and her brother, Lu Jingchen, still gave her allowance every month.

Therefore, after graduating from college, she didn’t think about doing anything specific.

Now, hearing Qin Ruyan say she was opening a clothing design studio, she became interested.

“Heh, Yanyan, do you need a partner or an investor?”

While studying abroad, they added each other on WeChat and occasionally contacted each other. Zhang Qiyao naturally knew that Qin Ruyan majored in clothing design in college.

Qin Ruyan answered truthfully, “I signed the lease, and my hands are a bit tight. But my brother just gave me some funds.”

“Then how about I invest in you?”

Zhang Qiyao was very interested.

“Yanyan, I’ve seen your sketches, and I think the clothes you designed all match my aesthetic.”

She was telling the truth.

She initially pestered Qin Ruyan to add her on WeChat because Qin Ruyan was beautiful. She had a filter for pretty girls.

However, she occasionally saw Qin Ruyan’s competition sketches in her Moments during college, and they were indeed good, otherwise, she wouldn’t have won awards.

On the other end of the phone, Qin Ruyan thought for a while before speaking.

“Yaoyao, I haven’t even started yet. You’re willing to believe in me and invest, I’m very happy, but I’m afraid you’ll lose money.”

Since learning that Zhang Qiyao was Lu Jingchen’s sister, Qin Ruyan knew that her friend wasn’t short of money, but she was afraid that if her clothing design studio didn’t operate well, it would lead to losses and hurt their friendship.

Zhang Qiyao didn’t care, “Yanyan, I’m not afraid of you losing money, I’m afraid you won’t think of me when you need something.”

Qin Ruyan didn’t understand why Zhang Qiyao was so kind to her. Although they were in the same class in high school, they didn’t interact much.

She thought for a while before speaking.

“Then how about this, if we make a profit, it’s considered your investment, and we’ll split the profits. If we lose money, consider it a loan from you. If you don’t agree, then I won’t take your investment.”

Zhang Qiyao frowned at Qin Ruyan’s statement. She felt that Qin Ruyan was treating her like an outsider, but she couldn’t agree to Qin Ruyan’s refusal of her investment, as the studio’s early development would become a problem.

“Alright, let’s do it your way,” she said.

Zhang Qiyao thought, “I have confidence in Qin Ruyan anyway. Even if the worst-case scenario is a loss, Qin Ruyan will owe me money, and I can refuse to accept it.”

The two agreed and decided to visit the fabric market together the next day. They hung up the phone.

After ending the video call, Zhang Qiyao turned off the TV, humming a song as she walked upstairs. She didn’t notice a figure standing by the door for a long time.

Lu Jingchen had come back home on a whim. He had just returned from a business trip in Xicheng, and when he reached the door, he heard Zhang Qiyao on the phone. He was about to go in, but stopped when he heard the word “Yanyan.”

Lu Jingchen, with his suit jacket draped over his arm, unconsciously twirled his phone in his hand, eavesdropping for a while.

He suddenly realized that his sister might be a good wingman in his pursuit of his girlfriend. Should he give her a little more allowance?

Lu Jingchen walked inside, changed shoes at the door, and hung his jacket on the coat rack.

He went into the living room, poured himself a glass of cold water, and drank it in one gulp.

The business partner he met in Xicheng today had started out in coal mining. A few years ago, when the real estate market was booming, he invested heavily in real estate.

He turned his small workshop into a tycoon and even opened the door to the Beijing circle.

Although in Lu Jingchen’s eyes, this wasn’t something he needed to personally handle, he was determined to promote the development of national enterprises, so even small fry couldn’t be easily overlooked.

The problem with these self-made bosses was that they were too fond of socializing.

He had actually been forced to drink quite a bit today. After the dinner party, he rushed to catch a flight back to Beijing.

There was an important meeting in Beijing tomorrow, which had been scheduled a month in advance. He had to attend.

He arrived home at almost eleven, but today there was an unexpected gain.
