Chapter 19: Reunion 2
Lu Jingchen walked over and stopped in front of the two, lowering his head to glance at Qin Ruyan.
Qin Ruyan was holding her phone in one hand and playing with a bank card in the other.
His eyes narrowed. The card looked familiar, similar to his own. But that wasn’t the main issue at the moment. He turned to Zhang Qiyao.
“What’s wrong? Did you want to buy something that exceeded your allowance?”
Since Zhang Qiyao hadn’t settled down yet, Lu Jingchen was quite strict with her allowance. Usually, for larger expenses, Zhang Qiyao would ask him separately, though he didn’t always give it to her.
“No, no,” Zhang Qiyao waved her hand. She had to keep her gift for her brother a secret.
Zhang Qiyao pouted. “Yanyan saw a set of clothes, and someone was trying to snatch it from her.”
Lu Jingchen shifted his gaze towards her. Snatch? With the card in her hand, how many people could possibly snatch it?
He didn’t say anything. Qin Ruyan looked calm and didn’t seem to need help, so he didn’t speak.
Bai Xue had been staring at Lu Jingchen since he entered.
Because she was in the same school as Zhang Qiyao, Lu Jingchen had come a few times for school events or parent-teacher meetings. At the time, all the girls in the school were captivated by him at first sight. He was just too handsome.
Bai Xue shifted her feet, moving closer to them. Before she could take another step, the store manager hurried over.
The manager was a man, about forty-five years old. He went straight to Qin Ruyan and bowed slightly.
“Miss Qin, I’m so sorry. Our staff failed to recognize you. Please tell me which set of clothes you need, and I’ll have it delivered to you directly.”
The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead. It was the weekend, and he was at home with his wife and daughter. Then he received a call from the company’s CEO saying that Miss Qin had come to the store and had her eye on a set of clothes, but someone was trying to snatch it.
He rushed over from home immediately.
“Steal?” The store manager thought, “Miss Qin could take all the clothes in this store if she wanted, let alone that she intended to buy them.”
The store manager’s actions shocked everyone.
Zhang Qiyao turned around, looking at Qin Ruyan in disbelief. Was this still her poor little best friend?
Lu Jingchen frowned. The situation seemed to have exceeded his expectations. Qin Ruyan seemed to have many secrets, always surprising him.
As for Bai Xue, she was already stunned, staring at Qin Ruyan with disbelief. “You… what’s your relationship with this store?”
Qin Ruyan glanced at her faintly, said nothing, and turned back to the store manager.
“Swipe the card. I’m buying this as a gift. I’ll go explain it to them. Thank you for coming on your weekend.”
The store manager smiled and instructed the staff to package the clothes Qin Ruyan wanted. For a long time, the staff member didn’t respond. He turned his head, and the staff member’s eyes were shining brightly, staring intently at Qin Ruyan.
The store manager coughed before turning his attention back to her.
The staff member thought she hadn’t mistaken the person just now and was excited.
She packaged the clothes for Qin Ruyan very carefully and handed them to her.
Qin Ruyan insisted on swiping the card before taking the clothes. She looked at the store manager, who lowered his head, took the card, entered the amount, swiped the card, entered the password, and confirmed. After the payment slip came out, he handed it to Qin Ruyan.
After arranging everything, he turned to leave, but was stopped by a gaze.
He turned his head and saw Lu Jingchen looking at him with a gloomy expression. The store manager couldn’t help but tremble. He walked forward and spoke cautiously.
“Mr. Lu, I didn’t see you just now, I’m really sorry.”
