Reunion After Separation: The Boss’s Relentless Pursuit Chapter 21

Chapter 21: Adding WeChat

The three of them arrived at a hot pot restaurant.

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision, but luckily the owner knew Lu Jingchen and had reserved a private room for them.

“Yanyan, can you handle spicy hot pot?”

Zhang Qiyao wanted spicy hot pot, but considering that most of the food abroad was bland, she first asked Qin Ruyan about her taste preferences.

Qin Ruyan sat directly across from the door, with Lu Jingchen sitting opposite her. She was indeed a little uncomfortable.

“I can eat anything. There are many Chinese restaurants abroad, and I can handle spicy food.”

Lu Jingchen tapped his fingers on the table, his gaze sweeping over Qin Ruyan’s lips, which were already quite red without any makeup. He just looked at her with her bare face, and he felt a little itchy.

He leaned back in his chair and spoke softly.

“Yaoyao, order a literally “Mandarin Duck pot”, a hot pot with both spicy and non-spicy broth. I don’t eat spicy food lately.”

Zhang Qiyao was taken aback, and she simply responded, “Okay, brother. Should I and Yanyan order the dishes then?”

Her brother didn’t have any particular preferences, and besides, ordering food didn’t really suit his temperament.

Qin Ruyan lowered her eyelashes, leaned slightly towards Zhang Qiyao, and lowered her head to study the menu with her.

A few minutes later, the two of them had ordered their dishes. The waiter who had been waiting outside came in at the right time, took the menu, nodded to the group, and then left the private room with the menu.

With Lu Jingchen sitting there, Qin Ruyan spoke less. She held the teacup in front of her and sipped water.

“Yanyan, I’m going to the bathroom. Wait for me, okay?”

After taking another sip of water, Zhang Qiyao leaned close to Qin Ruyan’s ear and whispered.

She wanted to say that there was a bathroom in the private room, but then she thought, the room was quiet now, and going to the bathroom would make some water sounds, and with Lu Jingchen, a man, sitting here, it would be a little inappropriate.

She nodded, moved aside, and Zhang Qiyao stood up and walked out.

After she left the private room, the silence between Qin Ruyan and Lu Jingchen was so thick that a pin dropping to the ground could be heard.

Qin Ruyan and Lu Jingchen didn’t have much interaction, and she wasn’t a talkative person. She simply picked up her phone on the table and flipped through it.

Lu Jingchen slowly poured himself a glass of water, then got up and refilled the empty glass in front of Qin Ruyan.

Qin Ruyan looked up in surprise, her expression a bit startled. Lu Jingchen thought she looked kind of cute.

He put down the water jug and sat back down on the chair, speaking softly, “Add me on WeChat?”

Qin Ruyan froze, not saying anything.

Lu Jingchen sat up straight, looking at her with a serious expression.

“Didn’t you say your best friend’s brother is like your brother? Isn’t it normal for a brother to add his sister on WeChat?”

Qin Ruyan pursed her lips. It sounded like they were very familiar.

But Lu Jingchen had already taken out his phone, and she looked down and saw the WeChat scan interface.

Since he had already taken out his phone, she had to add him even if she didn’t want to.

Qin Ruyan clicked on her avatar QR code, and Lu Jingchen’s lips curled up as he scanned it and sent a verification request.

Qin Ruyan received the verification and clicked to accept.

Silence fell between them again.

Lu Jingchen clicked on her Moments. There was no “visible for three days” setting, but there was very little content, and not many photos.

He scrolled down, saving the few photos, and then clicked on her WeChat avatar, which was a cat. Her WeChat name was also interesting: “A Cabbage.”

After adding him on WeChat, Qin Ruyan put down her phone and prayed in her heart that Zhang Qiyao would come back soon.

Fortunately, perhaps heaven heard her prayer, because two minutes later, Zhang Qiyao walked in, and Qin Ruyan breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhang Qiyao walked in and sat down on the chair, not noticing the atmosphere between her brother and her best friend.

“Yanyan, after dinner, let’s go to the pedestrian street and browse around? There are a lot of little trinkets there, and you can also…”

She picked up the cup in front of her and took a sip of water before looking at Qin Ruyan.

Qin Ruyan nodded. “Okay.”

The two of them chatted softly for a while, and with Zhang Qiyao there to lighten the mood, Qin Ruyan was no longer as nervous as before.

Lu Jingchen watched the two of them without showing any emotion, and didn’t interrupt them. He picked up the teacup in front of him and took another sip.
