Chapter 4: Going Home

Chen Zhong immediately booked the fastest flight, but it wouldn’t depart for another two hours.

Lu Jingchen emerged from the meeting, tugging at his collar. He stood on the side of the road waiting for a car.

He then opened WeChat and looked at Zhang Qiyao’s message, saving several photos.

He forwarded the photos to Chen Zhong.

“Photoshop Yaoyao out and send them back to me,” he said, without a hint of guilt for Photoshopping his own sister out of the picture.

Chen Zhong received the photos and immediately went to work. He had said his boss was acting strange today, abandoning work to rush to Beijing. So, was it because his future boss lady was in trouble?

Lu Jingchen arrived at the airport, boarded the plane, and reached Beijing in the afternoon.

He called Zhang Qiyao as soon as he got off the plane.

Zhang Qiyao had just finished dinner with Qin Ruyan and was about to leave when she received a call from her brother.

She took out her phone and saw the caller ID, her lips twitched. She winked at Qin Ruyan and silently explained, “It’s my brother.”

Qin Ruyan nodded and subtly stepped back, not wanting to intrude on their privacy.

“Where are you?”

Zhang Qiyao answered the phone, but before she could speak, her brother asked the question.

She felt a sense of overwhelming pressure, making her whole body tremble even through the phone.

“Brother, I’m out to dinner with my best friend. We just finished and are about to go home.”

At this moment, Zhang Qiyao’s survival instincts kicked in. Her brother usually didn’t get angry, but when he did, it was terrifying.

Lu Jingchen ignored her roundabout explanation, “You took my car? There’s a ticket.”

Zhang Qiyao thought for a moment. She had left late for the airport and did seem to have sped in some places.

“Brother, brother, I’m sorry! I’ll take care of it!”

Zhang Qiyao felt that if she didn’t apologize sincerely, her brother wouldn’t let her touch his car again.

Lu Jingchen was a bit distracted at the moment and didn’t say much to her. “I’m at the airport, I’ll be home soon.”

He hung up the phone after saying that.

Zhang Qiyao stared at the hung-up phone, stunned for a moment before turning around to look at Qin Ruyan with tears in her eyes.

“Ruyan, I have to go home and appease my brother. I can’t go shopping this afternoon.”

Qin Ruyan saw her sad expression and smiled, “It’s okay, I need to go back to my uncle’s house too. You go ahead and take care of your business.”

Zhang Qiyao felt a little embarrassed, but she had to go back to her brother’s place, otherwise she wouldn’t have a good life.

She went up and hugged Qin Ruyan, “Ruyan, after you rest today, we’ll go out shopping again in a couple of days. I’ll take you to try all the delicious food!”

Qin Ruyan patted her, “Okay.”

She actually liked Zhang Qiyao’s personality, simple, cute, and innocent.

After they parted ways, Qin Ruyan took out her phone. She had just returned to China and hadn’t gotten a domestic phone card yet.

She hailed a taxi and went to the service center to get a domestic phone card. She then changed the phone number bound to her WeChat account and sent her new number to Zhang Qiyao and a few other close friends in her circle.

Qin Chaoyang knew his niece was coming back today and didn’t go to work. His wife Shen Meng was also at home, along with their son Qin Shi.

After getting her phone card, Qin Ruyan took a taxi to Qin Chaoyang’s house. Her uncle and aunt knew she was coming back and were waiting for her at home.

Half an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of a detached villa.

This villa was bought by Qin Chaoyang. He ran a small company, a pharmaceutical company. Although it wasn’t large, it was doing well.
