Chapter 48: Starting Point
The next morning, Lu Jingchen was awakened by the alarm clock Qin Ruyan had set.
He frowned, reached out to turn off the alarm clock, and the person in his arms was still asleep.
They both went to bed early last night, but he wasn’t the kind of person who could sleep in naturally, so he still had to rely on the alarm clock, obviously Qin Ruyan did too.
But it seemed like her time was earlier than his alarm clock time? He felt that when he came back from his business trip, it was necessary to discuss with her, the alarm clock time should be set by him, so they could sleep a little longer.
Qin Ruyan also heard the alarm clock, she pulled the quilt in annoyance and hid inside.
Lu Jingchen was amused by her actions, he reached out to lift the quilt and smoothed her hair.
“Madam, it’s time to get up.” His voice was soft, but also with a touch of tenderness.
Qin Ruyan hummed before opening her eyes, her voice was drowsy.
“What time is it?”
Her voice still had a hint of sleepy laziness, Lu Jingchen smiled.
“It’s 7:30, isn’t Madam going to the studio?”
Qin Ruyan was startled when she heard this, she had to go for an interview today.
She frowned, sat up from the bed, and slowly put on her clothes.
Lu Jingchen found her like this a bit funny.
“I can’t tell, Ruyan, your morning temper is quite heavy.”
Qin Ruyan glanced at him, then smiled, her hand reached into his clothes and touched his waist.
Lu Jingchen stiffened, the smile on his lips froze.
“I can’t tell, Mr. Lu is so easily seduced? Just touching your waist, you can react?” Qin Ruyan smiled slyly.
“Alright, I’ll settle you when I get back.” His voice was gritted.
Qin Ruyan had already put on her clothes, she flipped her hair, and said vaguely.
“At least I won first this round.”
She got up and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Behind her, Lu Jingchen smiled.
After they got ready, they had breakfast.
“By the way, Ruyan, the maid will come over tomorrow.” Lu Jingchen handed her the juice, she didn’t like milk.
“Before, I was afraid that it would be inconvenient with an outsider.” As for what was inconvenient, he didn’t say, but Qin Ruyan knew.
“Just make do with eating outside today, the maid will come over to cook for you three meals a day starting tomorrow.”
Qin Ruyan nodded, she wasn’t unable to cook, but the studio was just starting, she would be busy for a long time.
“When I get back from my business trip, I’ll cook dinner every night. If I have to go out and can’t come back, I’ll ask the maid to come over and make it for you.”
He finished eating and put down his chopsticks, took out a tissue, and wiped his mouth.
Qin Ruyan leisurely finished her juice, and they went out together.
“Where’s the interview location?” Lu Jingchen sat in the driver’s seat and fastened her seatbelt.
“It’s on the street next to the studio, a coffee shop. Yaoyao booked the place.” The studio was still under renovation, they naturally couldn’t invite people to the studio for an interview.
Lu Jingchen nodded, and then gave her two more instructions before starting the car.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the place Qin Ruyan mentioned.
This area wasn’t easy to park, before getting out of the car, Lu Jingchen grabbed her hand, then pointed his finger at his cheek, signaling her.
Qin Ruyan leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, then he let go.
“Remember to send me a message, think of me when you have time.” He had a smile on his lips.
Qin Ruyan nodded, replied perfunctorily, then put on her baseball cap and walked towards the coffee shop without looking back.
Lu Jingchen shook his head, then smiled, started the car, and headed for the airport. He also made a call to Chen Zhong.
“Go directly to the airport.”
When Qin Ruyan arrived at the coffee shop, Zhang Qiyao was already there.
She took off her hat and sat opposite her.
“Yanyan,” Zhang Qiyao said, then oh-ed. “I should start calling you sister-in-law.”
She looked at Qin Ruyan and noticed that her eyes were more captivating than before. She couldn’t help but notice a faint red mark on her neck.
Qin Ruyan looked back at her and smiled.
“Yaoyao can call me whatever she wants.”
Zhang Qiyao pondered for a moment. “How about I call you Yanyan when it’s just us two?”
She had been her best friend first, and only later became her sister-in-law.
Qin Ruyan took a sip of water and smiled. “Whatever you like.”
Zhang Qiyao smiled back and pulled out her phone, shaking it.
“You’re getting married, and I haven’t even gotten you a gift yet. I picked one out on my phone, and the address is my brother’s place, where you’re living now. Remember to check it when you get it.”
Qin Ruyan nodded. They chatted casually for a while. A knock came from the door.
Zhang Qiyao reacted quickly, moving to Qin Ruyan’s side and placing her coffee closer. Then she said,
“Come in.”
The door opened, revealing a pair of white hands belonging to a young woman.
She looked quite young, and when she entered, she saw the two women and froze.
These two… they are so beautiful!
Qin Ruyan realized what was happening and stood up.
“Are you here for the interview at Listening Heart Studio?” she asked, a gentle smile playing on her lips.
Zhou Ying smiled shyly, a little awkward. “Yes,” she said, her fingers nervously fiddling with her bag.
“Sorry, I’m a little nervous.”
Qin Ruyan smiled and ordered her a cup of milk tea.
“Relax, our interview is very simple. Have a seat first.”
Zhou Ying nodded and sat opposite the two women, her eyes fixed on Qin Ruyan without blinking.
Qin Ruyan was a little confused by her gaze.
“Do you know me from somewhere? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“No, you’re just so beautiful. I can’t take my eyes off pretty girls.”
Zhou Ying thought for a moment before speaking.
Zhang Qiyao chuckled. “Little sister, that won’t do. She’s married, she’s my sister-in-law. If you don’t tone down your gaze, my brother won’t let you off easy.”
The atmosphere lightened up a bit after her playful remark.
“Don’t misunderstand, I just purely admire beauty, nothing more.”
Zhou Ying took out her resume and added another explanation.
Qin Ruyan smiled and reached out to take it.
She flipped through the resume and finished reading it quickly.
“Do you have any salary requirements?” Qin Ruyan found the girl quite likeable.
Zhou Ying was surprised. It was so smooth?
“Maybe you should take a closer look. I actually don’t have much experience in competitions, and my internship experience isn’t extensive either.”
Qin Ruyan smiled.
“You’re still young, and there are many possibilities in your future. I think you’re quite likable, and your professional skills can be improved. But as partners, it’s also important to get along. And your resume is impressive. I believe in your abilities.”
Her studio was just starting out, and it didn’t have much reputation in the industry. Having a designer believe in her was already a great joy.
Zhou Ying was stunned. After she realized what was happening, she nodded.
“Then I have no problem with that. Salary doesn’t matter.”
This was her first official job after graduating from university. The two women in front of her were very kind, constantly comforting her and easing her nerves. She felt like she should just go with them.
Later, after learning who Qin Ruyan’s teacher was and who Qin Ruyan’s husband was, Zhou Ying was incredibly grateful that she had made the right decision.
It wasn’t that she wanted to leverage their connections, but the fashion industry was inherently about playing favorites. With such a background, at least they would have more opportunities.
