Chapter 56: Taking the Initiative
Lu Jingchen showered quickly, emerging from the bathroom just five minutes later, clad only in a bath towel.
He walked towards the bed, drying his hair as he went. He paused, surprised to see her already asleep. What was he supposed to do? He looked down at her, his brow furrowed.
After a while, he pulled back the covers and got into bed, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
Qin Ruyan wasn’t asleep. She turned towards him, snuggling into his embrace, but the feel was different. She opened her eyes slightly, startled.
“Why are you…” not wearing any clothes?
Lu Jingchen was taken aback. He hadn’t expected her to be awake, and even less so to be snuggling into his arms without a care. He raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips.
“What kind of husband sleeps with his wife fully clothed? It’s inconvenient.” Besides, he’d have to take it off anyway.
He didn’t say it outright, unsure if her body had fully recovered. He simply wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, allowing her to feel his response.
“Is it okay?”
Qin Ruyan’s heart raced. Their bodies were pressed together, and she could feel his current state. She looked up at him, his eyes burning with suppressed desire.
She hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly. Then, she felt a wave of self-deprecation. Was she really still blushing and getting flustered over something as simple as a couple’s life?
Lu Jingchen moved almost instantly after her nod.
He rolled over, pinning her beneath him, and leaned down to kiss her lips. He savored their taste, his tongue swirling around hers until she let out an unconscious moan. One hand had already reached up to undo the buttons of her nightgown.
His kisses trailed down, reaching the delicate skin behind her ear. Qin Ruyan flinched, then, as if waking from a dream, remembered something and spoke in a hushed voice. “Don’t, don’t leave any marks. Someone might see.”
Her voice was shaky, barely a whisper. Lu Jingchen chuckled, obliging. “Then how about somewhere else?” His kisses descended further. Qin Ruyan felt as if all her strength had drained away. She couldn’t even form a coherent sentence.
The bedroom was lit by a table lamp, casting a warm glow. He could see how the delicate skin of the woman beneath him, usually so white, was now flushed with a faint pink. Her eyes were closed, her cheeks flushed, and her forehead beaded with sweat.
Qin Ruyan was clumsy, but Lu Jingchen just laughed. He didn’t force her, simply saying that she would get used to it with time.
…
Qin Ruyan didn’t know how long it had been. His voice was still in her ears, murmuring something, but she couldn’t take it anymore. She began to plead.
“I’m so tired, please stop.”
Her voice was soft, barely a whisper. Lu Jingchen, too, was struggling. She was so alluring, so willingly submitting to him, that his natural dominance and possessiveness were impossible to contain.
…
Two hours later, Qin Ruyan, weak and drained, was carried out of the bathroom by Lu Jingchen.
The moment she touched the bed, she subconsciously moved towards the inside. Lu Jingchen frowned and pulled her into his arms, stopping her movement.
“Don’t move, sleep with me.” His voice still carried the lazy remnants of desire. Qin Ruyan stopped moving. She was extremely sleepy at this moment, and closed her eyes, falling asleep within a minute.
Seeing that she no longer struggled, Lu Jingchen lowered his head and kissed her forehead. He was satisfied, holding the person in his arms and falling into a deep sleep.
Both of them forgot about setting an alarm, so the next morning, Lu Jingchen was woken up by Qin Ruyan’s alarm before he had even woken up.
He had a bit of a bad temper when he woke up. He reached out to turn off the alarm, then glanced at the person in his arms who was sleeping soundly, unaware of anything, and tentatively called out, “Ruyan, wake up.”
Qin Ruyan opened her eyes, her voice rather muffled, “What time is it?”
She was still extremely sleepy. Last night, Lu Jingchen had tossed and turned for two hours, and she felt the need to discuss the issue of time with him. If this continued, she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Lu Jingchen’s voice carried a satisfied smile, “Six thirty, it’s still early. Ruyan, change your alarm time? It’s too early.”
Qin Ruyan hummed in response, turned over and faced away from him, but was embraced from behind by Lu Jingchen.
“Sleep a little longer? We’re not in a rush to go to the company today.” He reached out from behind and held one of her hands, while the other hand held her waist.
Qin Ruyan wasn’t fully awake, her consciousness wasn’t clear, and she vaguely responded again. “So sleepy, don’t bother me.”
She was both tired and sleepy, and didn’t want to move at all.
Lu Jingchen chuckled. Her morning temper seemed even worse than his?
“Alright, I won’t bother you.” He leaned over and kissed her ear. Qin Ruyan dodged a little, and he just smiled, no longer bothering her. He embraced her from behind, holding her in his arms, and fell asleep again.
Two hours later, Qin Ruyan woke up, and there was no one beside her.
She subconsciously glanced at the bedside table. This time, he had left her a message again.
Qin Ruyan slowly got out of bed, and when she was putting on her clothes, she looked at her chest. Was Lu Jingchen a beast? Her body was covered in intimate marks, and her thighs were sore.
She sighed silently, remembering the saying “the drought kills the thirsty, the flood drowns the drowning.” She finally understood what it meant.
After she went to the bathroom to wash up and came out, Lu Jingchen had left breakfast for her on the dining table, along with a note.
“My wife has worked hard. Rest well at home today, I’ll be back to cook dinner.”
She glanced at it, ignoring it. After a while, she silently put the note away.
After breakfast, she sat on the sofa, holding a laptop in her arms.
She randomly pressed a few keys, entering a special group chat.
Y: Any jobs? The kind with high commissions.
