Reunion After Separation: The Boss’s Relentless Pursuit Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Power

Qin Ruyan raised her eyes and looked at him for a while, “I’m hungry, can we eat now?”

Lu Jingchen loosened his arm around her waist, his voice a little vague, “Madam, that’s a pretty old trick to change the subject, but it works.”

He took the milk tea from her hand and placed it on the table, then took her hand and led her to the kitchen, “Wash your hands first, then wait for me outside.”

She originally wanted to help with the dishes, but he wouldn’t let her, so she didn’t insist.

Qin Ruyan hummed in response, washed her hands, and turned to the dining table, pulling out a chair to sit down.

“I remember that game came out six years ago, you were only eighteen then, right?”

Lu Jingchen quickly brought out the dishes, he picked up the water kettle on the table and poured her a cup of tea.

Qin Ruyan hummed, “I thought it was fun back then, so I made it, and later I sold the copyright when I needed money.”

Lu Jingchen paused his pouring action, “What about now? Still need money?” He continued to fill her cup before speaking.

“I do.” Qin Ruyan picked up a piece of green vegetable with her chopsticks and ate slowly, nodding without any guilt.

Lu Jingchen smiled and picked a piece of meat for her, “Didn’t I transfer all my assets to you? Madam, you still need money?”

Qin Ruyan glanced at him, but said nothing.

He transferred his publicly known assets, those belonging to the heir of the Lu family, a lot of real estate and stocks, but the cash wasn’t really that much. Compared to the billions of cash he held under another identity, the cash he gave her was indeed not much.

When she took on that old man’s job in City F last time, she accidentally found out that Lu Jingchen had contact with that side.

Actually, he had already changed his IP address, and ordinary people wouldn’t be able to find it, but Qin Ruyan had no rivals in her field.

“Those aren’t cash, I need cash.”

Lu Jingchen nodded, “It seems that the one hundred million I just transferred isn’t enough for Madam to use?”

He leaned to the side, lowered his head and smiled, “When Madam needs money, come to me and use your beauty trick.”

Qin Ruyan remembered the message he left after transferring the one hundred million to her, she lifted her eyelids, her clear and cold eyes looked at him. “I didn’t expect Lu Shao to be so shameless.”

Lu Jingchen smiled, he put down his chopsticks and leaned back in his chair, he had a strong presence, even when he was holding back in front of her, he still gave off a sense of oppression.

“A businessman doesn’t do business at a loss, I married Madam, I can’t just watch.”

Qin Ruyan put down her chopsticks and wiped her mouth with a napkin, “I’m going to the study to get something, you eat slowly.”

Lu Jingchen nodded, “If you need to use the computer, there’s one in the study, the password is still your birthday.”

Qin Ruyan hummed in response and turned to walk into the study.

Behind her, the smile on Lu Jingchen’s lips gradually faded, he couldn’t understand, what did she need so much money for at such a young age? The money Qin Chaoyang sent her every year should have been enough for her.

Qin Ruyan walked into the study and sat down at Lu Jingchen’s desk.

Her studio was about to open, after much hesitation, she sent an email to Jennifer.

Her teacher cared so much about her and repeatedly reminded her not to give up on the fashion path, she felt she should report her progress to her teacher.

After sending the email, Qin Ruyan closed the computer, she got up and was about to walk out when Lu Jingchen walked in with a cup of honey water.

He placed the cup on the edge of the desk, trapping her between the desk and his arms.

“Does Madam like my study?” His eyebrows were raised slightly, his voice carried a hint of ambiguity, Qin Ruyan’s mind immediately recalled what he said about the birthday present.

She pursed her lips, subconsciously clutching her clothes, “It’s okay, right? It can hold a lot of books. I can fit all my drawings in here.”

Lu Jingchen smiled, “Haven’t you noticed any other uses?”

She raised her head, her eyes clear and cold as she looked at him, devoid of any flirtation.

“No, I’m a little sleepy and want to go to bed.”

Lu Jingchen hummed in agreement, stood up straight, and retracted his hand, making way for her. “Alright, Madam, go take a bath and sleep. I’ll come over later.”

Qin Ruyan hummed in response, her steps a little hurried as she left the study, still a bit unsteady.

Behind her, Lu Jingchen chuckled.

He waited until she left before gradually retracting his smile and sitting down on the chair by the desk, opening his laptop.

He glanced at the honey water by his hand. Qin Ruyan had left in such a hurry she hadn’t even taken a sip. He picked it up and took a sip, his brow relaxing. It seemed his Yan’er liked to drink honey water and milk tea, it wasn’t unreasonable. Indeed, sweet things could make one feel a little better.

He took another sip before putting down the cup. One hand randomly pressed a few keys on the keyboard. In no time, a video call was connected on the other end.

“Brother Chen,” the person on the other end of the computer was also a Chinese man, about the same age as him. His features weren’t as refined as Lu Jingchen’s, but he had a calmness that didn’t match his age.

Lu Jingchen hummed in response. He tapped his hand on the table, his voice calm and unruffled. “Any unusual activity over there recently?”

On the other end of the video, Cheng smiled lightly. “How could there be? You put the word out that no one is allowed to interfere with the old man’s affairs. Who on the path dares to take action?”

Lu Jingchen chuckled. “I didn’t expect my teacher to have such a large influence and still attract a bunch of blind people. I won’t be going over there for a while. Keep an eye on him for me. Don’t let him suffer any losses.”

Cheng nodded and asked another question, “You still don’t plan to tell Ji Feng?”

The three of them grew up together. Three years ago, Lu Jingchen suddenly acquired a vast power abroad. Cheng was incredibly surprised when he found out. The Lu family in Beijing was already considered one of the top families in China, but after he went abroad once, he realized the Lu family only had influence in certain areas. The vast power Lu Jingchen possessed was probably not even comparable to ten Lu families.

Lu Jingchen leisurely picked up the cup by his hand and took another sip before smiling. “Don’t tell him for now. He needs to take over his family’s affairs, and he’s busy chasing his wife lately, anyway. He doesn’t have the energy to focus on his career.”

Cheng thought of the occasional complaints he received from Ji Feng on his phone, saying how difficult it was to chase someone and how all his good brothers weren’t giving him any advice. He also smiled helplessly.

“I’ll wait until the situation with the old man stabilizes and you return to China. You’ve been working hard these past few months.”

Lu Jingchen was two or three years older than the two of them, and they had grown up together. He treated them both as younger brothers, especially Cheng. He had an older brother, and in a family like the Cheng family, having one outstanding eldest son meant there was no need for another outstanding second son.

He had seen too much power struggle in wealthy families.

Cheng smiled. “Alright, I heard Brother Chen got married. I haven’t met your sister-in-law yet. Let’s get together when I get back.”

Lu Jingchen nodded. They chatted for a few more minutes before ending the video call.

He stood up, stretched his muscles, and walked towards the bedroom.
